The Dance of Death at Basel; lithograph by Danzer (from Wellcome Collection)
"These lithographs are derived from the dance of death frescos painted on the walls of the churchyard of the Dominican cloister in Basel. Executed between 1437 and 1441, these frescos were often altered and were finally removed in 1805 when damages could not be restored. Some of the wall fragments are preserved in the history museum in Basel."
Text reads "Oh Mensch betracht und nicht veracht, hie die Figur, all Creatur. Die nimmt der Tod früh und spot, gleichwie die Blum im Feld zergoht," which I found translated in Issues of Death: Mortality and Identity in English Renaissance Tragedy by Michael Neill as "Behold, O people, and don't despise, the image of all human creatures whom Death seizes, sooner or later, like flowers in the meadow."

Exclusive interview: Bruce Campbell is having a renaissance.
Here’s a highly recommended interview which discusses what Bruce Campbell has in store for fans in the future.
Bruce Campbell is experiencing a creative renaissance, of sorts. In a recent chat with the actor, he discussed a return to his horror roots, cutting a comedy album with Ted Raimi and so much more.
Bruce Campbell hasn’t been idle during his time in self-isolation. The actor has been experiencing a creative renaissance of sorts. So, we figured now would be a perfect time to reach out and get some of our burning questions answered.
With so much uncertainty in the entertainment industry at present, rumors are running rampant. We gave Campbell a chance to clear the air so to speak and address some of the myriad of questions that fans have regarding Mortal Kombat 11, the latest Evil Dead incarnation, Ripley’s and whether or not he will work with Sam Raimi in front of the camera again.
The actor also surprised us with some monumental news. He will be returning to his horror roots with the sequel to My Name Is Bruce as well as several other projects that he has on his docket including a comedy album with one of his closest friends.
Get comfy, grab your favorite beverage and let’s catch up with Bruce Campbell.
Mortal Kombat 11, Ripley’s and the State of the Industry
1428 Elm: Thanks for speaking with us, Bruce. It’s always a pleasure. We have so many things to discuss. Recently, a site came out and said that you were definitely going to be Ash in Mortal Kombat 11. It seemed like a done deal the way it was reported. Can you comment on that?
Bruce Campbell: I probably shouldn’t emphasize yes or no because I don’t know. I have not been told. If it is not through my agent or proper channels than it usually means its wishful thinking.
1428 Elm: Apparently, an email from Warner Brothers Interactive was sent to a well-known entertainment site and Ash as well as Army of Darkness was mentioned in it with the trademark from MGM.
BC: The reason why it may not happen, just so you and the readers can know this, a lot of time for legal purposes, that character cannot appear in other things because of the license. If you can’t make a deal, that character is not going to show up. So, we may have been talked to about it.
But I do know with MGM that handles the Army of Darkness licensing that they’re hasn’t been a discussion with them about it. They’re pretty touchy. We have to be careful of ownership.
I honestly don’t know. I think I would have heard something. It’s not like my agent books me without consulting with me.
Even if Mortal Kombat came to me and said they want to put me in it, you still have to make a deal. If my agent says, “Bruce Campbell wants a hundred billion dollars,” and then they say no, the deal is dead.
The answer is we don’t know. No point in beating around about that.
1428 Elm: You might not be able to discuss this but what’s going on with Ripley’s Believe It or Not!? Will there be a Season 2?
BC: We’re one and done. It’s not your father’s Travel Channel anymore. If I wanted to host a ghost hunting show, I’d be on the air right now.
Ripley’s was made for the older school Travel Channel like Drive-Ins and Dive Bars where you go to wacky places around the country. There is a big push for paranormal, mystery and science-fiction, Discovery type stuff. I think we just “out aged” ourselves.
1428 Elm: It would have been nice if the Science Channel would have picked it up.
BC: It’s all good. I remain philosophical about all shows that come and go. There are so many factors involved. You change executives and things change, companies get bought and sold and things change, ratings aren’t what you expected…
After this virus, we’re going to see what shape the motion picture industry is in. It’s going to be a wounded beast. Projects are going to go away.
You’re going to have fewer tentpole movies too. I am hopeful we’ll have a return to low budget filmmaking.
That’s what I hope comes out of it. Each studio will start a low budget division and spend the money wisely.
Number One on the Charts with a Bullet
BC (Cont.): In the meantime, what is nice, I’m finishing up a couple of projects. I’m hoping by the end of the year to put a book of essays out and a comedy album with Ted Raimi.
1428 Elm: A comedy album?
BC: Yeah, we finished it. I’m in post-production on it. I’m putting all the sound effects in now.
1428 Elm: That sounds great!
BC: Who knows? We’ve never done one before so we’re going to find out.
1428 Elm: So, you guys are harkening back to the 1960’s when comedians like Bob Newhart had hit albums?
BC: It’s our version of that. I used to listen to the top comedy albums during the 60’s and 70’s. I wouldn’t dare compare myself to any of the masters like Mel Brooks and the 2,000-Year-Old Man with Carl Reiner. We gave it a shot. I love audio and I like radio plays.
Bruce Campbell vs the Classic Monsters
1428 Elm: So, tell us what is going on with your political satire, House Divided. Are you still working on pitching that once everything gets back to business as usual?
BC: It will be on the sales block. It’s a harder sell. There’s no blood. It’s not a horror movie, it’s a political satire. Associating Bruce Campbell with political satire isn’t the first thing investors whip out their checkbooks for.
To combat that, I just finished writing a sequel to My Name Is Bruce. The idea is we want to take Bruce and have him go through each of the classic film monsters. The sequel is Bruce vs Frankenstein.
We’re done. I finished my draft and sent it to Mike Richardson, my partner at Dark Horse Comics. We’re actively looking for money on that one. It is the Expendables of Horror. I fully intend to load the cast with so many familiar horror faces. It should be a lot of fun.
It would be a cavalcade of genre stars, old, young, on TV now. We really want to cover the bases. A lot of people will be getting killed. Guest star kills. Basically, Bruce bumbles his way into being a hero.
1428 Elm: Will you have to go through Universal to get permission to use the classic monsters?
BC: Some stuff is public domain. I’m not a lawyer but we would figure out a way to do this.
I think the bolts on Frankenstein’s neck are trademarked, as well as certain looks. But you can make a Frankenstein. That story is under public domain.
It’s also a parody of a Frankenstein movie and that gives a lot of leeway legally as well. I don’t think you can say, “Wolfman,” but I think you can say Bruce vs the Werewolf. This is my version of the Bob Hope road movies.
Ted has two parts; I have two parts for Robert Englund and I have a couple of parts for Kane Hodder. If they’re a name, I am going to put them in it.
After we come out of the zombie apocalypse that we’re in and everyone gets back to work, that is what I will be actively pitching. There’s plenty going on. So, I have been self-isolating in a constructive way.
It’s an Evil Dead World
1428 Elm: We’re curious about the 1970’s period piece that you were working on when we talked to you last year. What happened with that?
BC: It’s currently on my action board. I will eventually get to it. I am going to finish my book of essays first and then I am going to get to that one.
The story is set in 1979. The idea behind it is what would have happened if us raising money for Evil Dead went horribly, horribly wrong. It becomes a horror movie in and of itself.
1428 Elm: How did this idea come to fruition?
BC: I was going through projects in my computer. People who have a lot of downtime do spring cleaning. Clean out your woodshed, toolshed when you have extra time. In this case, I went to the head of my projects folder.
This one popped up and it was just an outline that I had written 15 years ago. I thought, wait a minute, this is pretty well thought out.
In the 70’s, filmmaking was real, you didn’t have a lot of options. You had to get cameras from a certain place, you had to have insurance. There were a lot of steps that you had to take that made the process really difficult.
I remember making calls for money from payphones in blizzards and s*** like that. You had to leave messages, you’re getting busy signals, you’re not texting anyone. There are no computers, there’s no email, its old school. You sent things in the mail.
Today, filmmaking is not difficult. I can go to a store and buy a 4K camera. I can make a movie with $5,000 worth of equipment. Probably less.
1428 Elm: Well, you can do it on your phone too. Sam Raimi is on Quibi now with 50 States of Fright, which is entertainment tailored to your device. If his series continues once everything settles, do you think there’s a chance you might appear on the show?
BC: Never say never, that’s all verbally at this point. They have to succeed; they have to survive. Any new format, any new platform, I’m game and if Sam’s involved all the more reason.
1428 Elm: Have you ever thought of doing anything like Quibi?
BC: Not yet. I’m used to writing 90-page screenplays with a three-act format. I can adapt anything too.
I was thinking the other day, I have a few screenplays that might be tough sells but maybe I might convert them to a fricking novel and put them out as books. There’s lots to do. I’ve got plenty going on.
1428 Elm: Has the current situation affected the new Evil Dead? We remember that you talked about possibly going into production at the end of this year. Is that pushed back like everything else?
BC: No, not really. It was so early in the stages that we can keep going. I just read the first official draft today. So, then we’ll give notes and additional writing will take place.
Then you have to budget the thing so you know how much money you need to raise and then you have to get the money. Nothing will stop any of that.
You can make calls for money, you can send the script to people, you can do budgets. The only thing that will be affected will be the actual start date. Which we didn’t know anyway. We may end up not being delayed at all.
Many thanks to Bruce Campbell for chatting with us.

Episode Recap: 3.03, “It's a Dilemna”
First of all, love the title for this episode. It reminds me of the classic 2011 Vince Vaughn/Kevin James dramedy, The Dilemma, which always reminds me of this tweet:
Tumblr media
So prepare yourself for this episode, in which one of the characters might find themselves presented with “a situation in which a difficult choice has to be made between two or more alternatives, especially equally undesirable ones.” Ooh. The possibilities are almost literally endless.
The episode starts with Bex and Andi playing off-brand scrabble.
Tumblr media
I’m gonna guess... Word Trains? There’s clearly a heavy train influence here.
Bex takes a long time to play her word, but eventually settles on “dilemna” [sic]. Is this foreshadowing? Do you think Bex and/or Andi might have to make a difficult choice between two or more alternatives? And could it involve a jet?
Also, I can’t believe Bex went for dilemna when DEMJETIPRIZE was still on the table! That’s like a 200 point word!
Tumblr media
Andi rips into Bex for spelling things wrong, but then Andi says superfluous as super-flew-us and everyone’s back on an even level.
If there’s one thing to learn from this whole ordeal, it’s simply this:
Tumblr media
Words are stupid.
The next day, the GHC walks through school planning out their weekend. Andi says the Color Factory is in town, but I’m sorry, the only factory I’m interested in is of the cheesecake variety.
Anyway, the Color Factory is a bunch of colorful rooms that, as Buffy puts it, is “one those places that’s just for posting pictures on social media to make people feel left out.”
As Buffy’s describing that, I’m nodding my head like, Yeah, that’s so stupid. What kind of jerks would post dumb pictures like that to social media just to--
Tumblr media
Never mind.
Anyway, Buffy and Cyrus are in.
Quick question: why does this girl assault Cyrus?
Tumblr media
And why does Cyrus not do anything about it? Is his self-esteem so low he just lets people run into him and doesn’t even bother to say something? The poor child.
Buffy says you know who else might enjoy an artsy, interactive, colorful experience thing? Walker. And Andi’s like:
Tumblr media
There’s definitely an unseen eye twitch going on here.
Andi slowly turns around and she and Buffy live in this long, awkward silence that gets mercifully ended by the school bell after a few seconds. They decide to talk about it later and scramble away.
Over at Cloud 10, Bex and Celia sort supplies in an empty salon.
Tumblr media
I’m already starting to get worried about the business, you guys.
Celia asks Bex if she wants to go shopping on her lunch break. Bex sniffs out something suspicious, and Celia admits she wants to start a registry for Bex’s wedding. Bex doesn’t want to do that, though. Celia asks what Bowie thinks, but Bex says they really haven’t discussed the wedding, they’ve been too busy talking about bread. Celia loses all interest in shopping and goes back to her supplies.
Over at Red Rooster, Jonah strums a guitar when a dad and son come in. They are wildly over-impressed by Jonah’s guitar strumming.
Tumblr media
Boy, wait till you guys hear actual music. You’re gonna flip.
Bowie comes to talk to the enthusiastic fans. Turns out, young Shaun (the boy) is turning nine, and his father, Victor (the man), would like to buy him his first guitar. Victor asks Bowie to teach his son, but Bowie’s like, eh, I’m not so much a guitar teacher.
But then Jonah’s like, yeah he is! He made me a music genius in two lessons! And he’s a rockstar! He traveled the world with the Renaissance Boys! You know the Renaissance Boys, don’t you? Bowie and... Rafe. And... Greg? And the cute one?
Bowie tries to play it all down, but it doesn’t seem to be working on Victor.
Tumblr media
Victor says Shaun has a gift and he needs the right teacher, so Bowie accepts.
At The Spoon, Cyrus tells Andi he’s failing P.E., which seems almost impossible to me. All I had to do in school to pass P.E. was show up? Just like, stand around and keep breathing? There was a kid in my school who was in an iron lung and they got a B+. One student spent every period trying to attack the P.E. teacher with a big stick and didn’t fail the class. A boy in my school passed away in the 7th grade and still got a C in 8th grade P.E. because my P.E. teacher was convinced the gym was haunted by his spirit.
Anyway, Cyrus tries to figure out how to deal with this situation. Then he asks Andi how she’s going to deal with hers: Buffy and Walker. Andi wants to know if it really needs to be discussed. I mean, she said she was fine with it, sure, but then she was also quiet, so...
Tumblr media
Cyrus says what Andi could do is, stay with me here, speak to Buffy. I feel like he’s tried giving this advice to Andi before, regarding Jonah. I forget if it worked that time. Probably. This time, though, Andi determines the best course of action is to not bring it up and hope Buffy doesn’t either.
Buffy arrives and immediately brings it up. You know what they say about the worst-laid plans...
Andi and Buffy decide to get it all out there. Andi feels weird around Walker and doesn’t want him to come to the Color Factory. Buffy understands and says she won’t invite him. Everything seems good.
Cyrus pulls out a chip he thinks looks like Obama.
Tumblr media
Wow. Way to take care of a valuable piece of art. You wouldn’t just stuff a Van Gogh in a ziploc and hope for the best.
Bex comes by to see Celia and asks why she got a “Save the Date” for her wedding. Celia says it’s ok, because actually the I Ching chose the date. Bex reminds her she’s said over and over that she doesn’t want a big fancy wedding and Celia’s like, if I don’t do something, you’ll all be wearing shorts at the wedding like animals! Bex and Celia are sort of at an impasse here after it felt like they we’re doing so well in their fight together against Aunt Mei.
Cyrus talks with his P.E. teacher, looking for an out. He says he’s running a 17 minute mile. 17 minutes?! I had a kid in my P.E. class that did a 15 minute mile in an iron lung! Half my 8th grade class were in iron lungs, ok? I went to a weird middle school.
His P.E. teacher suggests taking a P.E. alternative, which leads to Cyrus joining the cast of Fame.
Tumblr media
Is it just me or are the dancers performing a number based on a public domain version of the Rocky theme?
Also, aren’t we just barely into the school year? How are all the rest of these kids so good already?
Cyrus is exhausted and realizes he’s made a huge mistake. Not sure why he thought dancing wasn’t also a lot of cardio. Probably because he has a broken teenage brain.
At Red Rooster, Bowie tries to teach Shaun the guitar. He’s not very good. It appears that Bowie attempts to teach him for maybe an hour or so, realizes he isn’t the reincarnation of Jimi Hendrix, and then dies inside.
Tumblr media
I mean, the kid is only nine. I’d assume there’s lots of room for improvement. Tons of room. But I’m not a member of the famed Renaissance Boys. (And if I was, I’d be the cute one. Believe it.)
Andi gets ready to head out to the Color Factory and walks right into Walker, who says they need to talk-er. I’m sorry. I don’t know why I did that.
Walker wants to know why if Andi said she was cool with them just being friends, then what’s the deal with her being all weird around him. Andi’s upset Buffy told Walker that, but Walker says Buffy needed to explain why he couldn’t be around her.
Walker wants to know if there’s anything they could do to fix this whole mess and Andi’s like, mangle your face so you’re gross to me. No, she doesn’t know if there’s anything to do, but she does know Walker should go to the Color Factory. Walker thanks her for being cool, which is... a generous reading of the situation. Andi admits as much.
At the Color Factory, Cyrus remains in pain from doing just a very light amount of uncoordinated dancing.
Tumblr media
Cyrus says he can’t go back to regular P.E. until next semester, so strap in, folks: we’re going to be seeing some more dancing this year.
Walker shows up. Buffy is surprised to see him, but Walker explains everything was worked out and he has Andi’s permission to enjoy the Color Factory with the others.
And enjoy the Color Factory they do. They’re laughing and posting pictures to social media.
In fact, you may say they’re having the time of their lives.
Tumblr media
God, I hope Andi can’t hear that music or read the closed captioning.
Buffy texts Andi asking where she is and why she didn’t come but Andi has a tough time answering.
Bex and Bowie prepare food. Bowie thinks it’s nice Celia is obsessing over their wedding. Bex thinks they should be the ones to plan the date of their wedding, and Bowie asks her when that should be, and Bex doesn’t actually know, and neither does Bowie, so Bowie suggests maybe they should just trust the I Ching.
Bowie says if neither of them really cares, give this to Celia. Pick your battles, which is a smart tactical move in both warfare and in dealing with overbearing mothers. Bowie’s reasonability (reasonableness? Words are stupid.) wins Bex over.
Also, Bowie spent the whole scene just absentmindedly chopping up hot dogs.
Tumblr media
It’s not really important, but I kept watching him do it the whole time, wondering what those chopped up hot dogs were for. But that’s my problem, not yours.
Anyway, the two parents realize Andi’s been quiet, so they go to check on her.
Andi’s not feeling ok. She explains that her friends are having fun without her, and that Buffy would rather be with Walker than with her. Bex is like, wow, would Buffy really say that? And Andi’s like, she didn’t have to, I know it’s true because Buffy told Walker he couldn’t hang out with her because she wanted to spend time with Andi and it made Andi uncomfortable. And Bex asks Andi if Andi told Buffy not to tell Walker that, and Andi feels she shouldn’t have had to. And Andi says she texted Buffy that something came up, and that’s why she couldn’t go to the Color Factory, but Buffy never asked her what that something was. Further proof of malice. Followed by the gravest insult of all:
Tumblr media
WHY NOT JUST THROW DIRT IN MY FACE, BUFFY?!
Andi says to top it all off, her friends posted all sorts of fun stuff on social media, knowing full well she has access to the internet. I guess it’s sort of interesting she’s giving Cyrus and Jonah a pass here, but whatever.
Bex and Bowie try to cheer Andi up, but she’s in an emotional hole right now.
Andi is being a bit unreasonable, but I also understand it’s fairly realistic emotional behavior for her age (broken teenage brains and all that).
Being an adult, however, the ones I sympathize the most with in this scene are Bex and Bowie...
Tumblr media
...who share a little, “Oh right, we’re raising a teenager” look as the episode ends.

Essential WordPress Plugins Every Blogger Must Have
If there is one thing that bloggers can’t resist, it’s reading about the essential WordPress plugins that other bloggers use!
It’s almost like if you’re a professional chef and someone shares a killer recipe… you can’t just look, right? Or a woman sharing a tidbit of juicy gossip; it’s impossible for other ladies to ignore.
It’s taken me the past 10 months of actively trying to improve my blog to come up with this list. This isn’t just some list that I Googled and haphazardly through together; this is every single active plugin that I have on my blog right now.
Enjoy my list of essential WordPress plugins!
Akismet
One of the most basic plugins for any WordPress user. If you’re not using this, you’ll be sifting through thousands upon thousands of unwanted spam comments. This plugin takes out the garbage so you never have to see it!
All In One SEO Pack
Does all the crazy annoying SEO junk for you. Gives you a simple form to fill out with each post (title, description, tags) and then automatically optimizes it for you. I love this one because my descriptions show up on Google the way I want (and they rank FAST).
Broken Links Remover
This one can be a lifesaver. On blogs with dozens or even hundreds of posts, it’s a tall task to click on every link and make sure they’re still going where they should. This plugin gives you a list of every single link on your site that’s not going anywhere. Another must-have!
Cbnet Ping Optimizer
So, every single time you update your blog, it automatically sends a “ping” (basically an update) to the search engines. This lets them know to send back their “bots” and index the new content.
But, if you’re updating a lot, your site is sending out a lot of “pings”, and the search engines might think you’re just spamming them to get your site indexed. This plugin helps to optimize your pins and make you appear less “spammy”.
CommentLuv A Very cool plugin that promotes a more social, interactive atmosphere! Basically, when someone leaves a comment, they also leave their website URL. This plugin goes to their website and automatically picks up their last blog post and shows it in the comment they just left. People are much more likely to leave comments if they’re getting love back to their own blog.
Comment Redirect
When someone leaves a comment, they’re automatically taken to a page of your choice. You can take them to a thank you page, or (if you’re bold) straight to a capture page… it only does this for the very first comment they leave so it’s not annoying.
Digg Digg
Puts all those cool little share buttons at the top of each post. Gives you a list of several social media sites and you pick which ones you want to show up. Also, displays how many times your post has been shared, so your readers can see some proof that you are indeed popular.
Edit Comments
Have you ever written something stupid, and then realized you couldn’t edit it? And it’s on the internet for everyone to see? This simple plugin lets readers edit their comments for up to 30 minutes.
Exclude Pages From Navigation
For when you want to include a “secret” page within your blog that you don’t want the general public to see! You can create a page that is only accessible with a direct URL; it doesn’t show up as a post, tab, or even in your site’s navigation. Perfect for exclusive content you only want to share with certain people.
Fast Secure Contact Form
Not only an easy way for readers to send you a message straight to your email inbox, but gets rid of the spam robots from leaving you messages as well.
Favicons
It puts a little image on the tab in your browser. It gives your site a little more personality, and a little more recognizable as well. Plus, when a reader leaves a comment, it puts up a little image of them as well. I couldn’t find this plugin in the back office of WordPress, so click on the title for the download page.
FD Feedburner Plugin
When a visitor wants to subscribe to your feed, this plugin redirects them to Feedburner.com. Within Feedburner, you can add pictures, allow your readers to share certain content, and customize other features. It helps your feed to stand out among others that your readers may be following.
Feed Subscriber Stats
Shows on your dashboard how many people are subscribed to your feed through Feedburner.
Google XML Sitemaps
This is another SEO plugin that most humans don’t understand but Google and Yahoo lookover. Basically, it makes it easier for search engines to index your blog. That’s always good.
Popularity Contest
Keeps track of which posts are the most popular according to your visitors’ behavior. You can even change up the values to make commenting or visits more heavily “weighted” when figuring up the most popular. After you install this plugin, head over to the widgets and drag the “Popularity Contest” widget wherever you want it.
PopUp Domination
My favorite and one of essential WordPress plugins that I use! It creates that awesome looking pop-up opt-in form that comes up on my blog. It allows for very easy customization, and even allows you to decide exactly how often it pops up for each visitor. Costs $47, but well worth it to get higher opt-ins.
Pretty Link (Lite Version)
A very, very useful plugin! It lets you cloak links and then tracks how many clicks have been made. It’s not a super-detailed tracking system, but it’s free! It’s useful if you have some long, ugly affiliate link that you want to track as well. Your links are your domain, followed by whatever ending you want to put in. For example, mine look like who-is-erin-smith.com/FP or whatever else at the end. Pretty nifty (plus people are more likely to click on it if the link looks like a blog.)
Related Posts Thumbnails
This one is great for keeping visitors on your blog much longer. At the end of each post, pictures and descriptions for six other related posts are displayed. I’ve had many comments from readers that they couldn’t leave my blog because they kept clicking on those thumbnails and jumping to other posts.
ReplyMe
When someone leaves a comment, they have an option to be notified of follow-up comments. Normally, this means they will be notified of every single comment that comes after theirs. But, with this plugin, they are only notified if someone replies to their specific comment. Help keep your visitors from receiving a bunch of unwanted mail, and only receiving one or two useful messages when they get a reply.
Robots Meta
Another boring SEO plugin… It just cleans up unnecessary junk.
SEO Friendly Images
Zzzzzzzzz… more SEO. Helps your images get found by search engines (like in Google Image Search)
SEOPressor Unlimited
Another SEO plugin… but NOT boring! Probably an essential plugin I have because it makes all the “on-site” SEO stuff super duper easy. It makes a list of all the things you should do inside your post to make it rank (like certain tags, keyword density, no follow links, etc) and gives you a percentage out of 100. This one costs $37 for one domain or $97 for unlimited domains… has been worth every penny for how many posts I’ve had rank on Google.
SEO Slugs
BORING! (but darn useful) Cleans up the URL for individual posts (takes out words like “a” “and” “an”) so the search engines like it better.
SexyBookmarks (by Shareaholic)
Comes up with a bazillion different share links to social media and social bookmarking sites. They show up at the bottom of each post and they look snazzy.
Thank Me Later
This plugin automatically sends out a Thank You email to everyone who leaves a comment. It allows for some variation on the message. Overall, great for reader satisfaction and keeps them coming back!
Top Level Categories
More SEO junk. It takes the category out of the post urls. It makes it look cleaner, plus it focuses more on the keyword in the post URL.
WordPress EZ Backup
ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL WordPress PLUGIN!! Sorry for all caps… but one of the worst days I had last year was when I went to my blog and all that was there was the shell. All my posts, pics, videos, EVERYTHING was gone. Helps you recover a disappeared blog in no time flat. Help keep blood pressure down, too.
WordPress Thread Comment
Allows you to reply to a single comment. When you find a specific comment you want to reply to, your reply will show up in the same box as the original comment. Basically, it makes it obvious who you’re talking to.
WP Frame Breaker
Have you ever clicked through from a 3rd party site to a blog, and the 3rd party site’s header takes up half the page? Well, you don’t want that happening to you. This plugin gets rid of the frames that referring sites sometimes put on your blog when sending visitors through.
WP Google Analytics
Google Analytics is a tracking resource that keeps track of everything you want to know about your visitors: where they come from, what posts they enter and exit on, how many unique visitors, and a million other things. This plugin makes it easy to incorporate Google Analytics on to your blog.
WP Greet Box
Another “reader satisfaction” plugin that basically greets every visitor who shows up. It puts up a different message depending on where your visitor came from. If they found your site on Google, a message pops up saying something like “Welcome Googler…” You can edit these messages.
