A Transport Tuesday throwback to a double dose of purple train - but not on the Elizabeth Line! Southern Railway built & British Railways rebuilt West Country class 34027 Taw Valley running as No 70 Queen Elizabeth II for the Platinum Jubilee is seen during the Severn Valley Railway's Autumn Steam Gala backing down onto its train of ex-GWR carriages as a West Midlands Railway class 172/3 accelarates out of Kiddminster Town station. As I write this post, Taw Valley is currently being given another experimental livery in the form of the Southern Railway's MOD wartime livery, which, although authentic, was never actually carried by the locomotive during its working life.
