I think the funniest thing for me is when fandom/the show is so terminally deanpilled that we're saying that Dean & Sam become more equal over time on the show. Or that Dean broke the cycle of abuse by [checks notes] not shooting his stepson.
I think some of the problem is due to the difficulty of pinning down stylistic vs. "real" violence (for lack of a better word), so a lot of the literal acts of violence get kinda ignored because it's part of the style of the show (men yelling at each other). The show itself has a lot of internal inconsistencies as far as acts of violence you're supposed to laugh off or ignore or think are justified vs. acts of violence that are "horrifying" or whatever.
