So many tubessss 😫 - - I am preparing for a starch quantification assay. First step is to put a small amount of a plant starch extraction mix into 2 tubes- to make a control alongside my treated sample. Luckily for me a summer student in the lab kindly prepared all my starch extractions 😇 which has made this whole process a lot less time consuming for me! The starch mix will then be boiled for 15 mins to gelatinise. - - Once the starch has gelatinised I will add the two enzymes amylase and amyloglucosidase to one set of samples- which will degrade the starch to glucose. In the control set I won't add these enzymes, so no starch will be degraded to glucose (important for the future assay!). - - Due to the boiling I need to use screw cap tubes (normal eppendorf tube lids tend to explode open!) And with the control I need 2 tubes per sample... meaning I need 188 tubes which all have to be labelled 😒 I will also be undoing and redoing all 188 tubes to add the starch mix, and then the enzyme mix, and let me tell you- it takes a while! - - Imma going to be here a bit!
