I went to this WONDERFUL @intoactionus event last year: gut wrenchingly uplifting art installations I saw about police brutality and #TrayvonMartin and I participated in a workshop that helped enable real dialogue about our biases and how to embrace, understand, and be aware of them while talking in a respectful manner with others of different races and respecting their opinions and experiences of their own race and communities. So much bridge work. Bridges are valuable now more than ever. As much as this week long event will provoke art, it will definitely provoke emotional/logical responses that are anchored to the realities we're facing. Not the secondary information from news channels or YouTube...but direct stories from people in front of you and experts in multiple fields. Experts from organizations that are seeing and doing the work to help our nation who just want to provide a safe space for ideas that center on solutions, love, empathy, peace, and justice to thrive and run rampant within us. If you're angry...Im happy. That's your moral compass telling you something is off. Now direct the anger and channel it into positive and healthy reflection then action to make real change take place. Or not. Your choice. But there always comes a point when we get sick and tired of being sick and tired...of our systems, corruption, and apathy...so please don't let the anger or sadness consume you.
