Revisiting - Mario Anime movie (Spoiler Warning)

It was over 10 years ago when I watched it as a part of my convention panel when I and pal from the past made panel about Mario's animation legacy. And since new Mario movie is coming soon I wanted to return to this topic by myself this time. This time focusing Anime movie and Live-action one and what those did right and wrong and what new one can learn from it. Anyway let's talk about The Great Mission to Rescue Princess Peach. Since fandom restored and cleaned it to 4K it's more beautiful than ever before. Thanks to all those great people. Since this movie only had one game to work with I think it did decent job to be one of the first ever videogame to the movie adaptation. There is some weird shit and sometimes it's really hard to tell what are laws of the world we're in. Lava is obviosly deadly but then you can breath in the oceon and huff and puff until sunken ship starts flying in the air. Characters are pretty nice even though Luigi is lowkey proto-Wario. Peach is pretty nice that they were able to show her bit of a fighter and clever person and not just being helpless. But to be fair King Koopa is just physically too strong for her. Koopa's voice is one thing that I don't like but other than that his design and action is nice. It's nice that all minion characters got in too. But I don't get it why Para-Koopas are presented as birds and they kids look more like birds than koopas. Music is fine I guess there is few new remixes like Underwater theme and Starman. But others are just like game versions and get bit too noisy in scenes they starts playing. Then there are those original songs for the movie and oh boy they feel bit too same singing about love and rock'n'roll etc. Travelling montages repeat few of them and I think those scenes feel that they are only here to make sure this movie is 61 minutes long or else movie is too short. One thing I still really hate in this movie that after dreaming about Peach through whole movie and all those love songs supporting idea that Mario and Peach will end up together. But no there comes this cockblocking proto-wiggler dog that was actually prince the whole time and JUST BECAUSE Legend says that Peach's future husband will have same emerald jewel like she that obviosly this piece of shiitake prince has. And Mario still somehow managed to be brave and be happy for Peach finding this prince. Yeah I don't like that part of the plot at all. Yeah Mario and Peach aren't dating in games either like actual couple but this is one OTP I still support. Overrall it's fine movie, but nothing to worry if you haven't seen it. It's nice piece of game media history if you're interested to see this before 2023 movie.

Private | Phone call - Self para

Austin has a phone call with his father. TW: Verbal Abuse, heartbreak, etc.

It was almost laughable when Austin saw his father's name blink across his cell phone screen. Normally, he would have ignored it. But Charlie had already given Austin the heads up, and he knew what this was about.

"Oh look. It's a distant father callin' his son for the first time in over a year. Must be serious," he joked. His joke, of course, fell on deaf ears of a man who couldn't be bothered.

"I assume by now Charles has told you. And I need you to convince him."

Austin laughs, "Yeah, I'm not doin' that."

"He'll listen to you. He's always listened to you, though Lord only knows why. He's obedient as a general rule, but more so with you. I need you to do this, Austin."

"And why. Why in the world would I do anythin' to help y'all get more of what ya want? Besides, couldn't help ya if I wanted to. Charlie is promised to a Dom and another submissive. He's gonna get claimed and have an amazin' life and I ain't gonna let ya fuck with that."

"Language, Austin," the man said simply, the long, loud growl of disappointment vibrating through the phone. "You'll have to convince him then. Because I need this deal, and this is the only way I'll get it. And this partner of mine doesn't have a lot of faith in his daughter getting a claim the old fashioned way. She's a bit - sadistic."

Austin could have sworn he heard a laugh at the end of his father's voice. In the same tone he had become accustomed to hearing from years of being on the receiving end of that particular attitude. "Ok, still not seein' how that's anyone's problem. And why in the world would ya set Charlie up with someone like that!? Do ya know him at all!?"

Austin heard another deep sigh, the one that told him he was getting far too close to his father's last nerve, "Lower your tone, boy. You understand, if this deal doesn't go through, I will have no choice. Your mother would be cut off from my protection -"

Austin cut his father off with a snide laugh. "Protection!? Y'all haven't protected any of us a day in our lives! Lord knows what ya do to her with me not there to stop you."

"That is enough! You selfish, stupid little brat. You never did anything but piss me off, you know that, right? You're useless and nothing more than a pain in my side and a bump in my plans. You're nothing but a mistake and now, you will shut that ungrateful little mouth and listen to me." Austin grit his teeth into a low growl as his father continued. "Without this deal, I will not be able to keep your mother in the life she's become accustomed. Do you hear me, Austin? I will cut her off and she will be no better than a discarded slave. Not that she's much more than that now, so just imagine how much worse it could get."

Austin shut his eyes tight, the tears burning behind them. His father was a lot of things - a liar wasn't one of them. If he said he would do what he was alleging, Austin knew he wasn't only capable, but he'd do it without a second thought. After a long pause, Austin took a deep breath, "Charlie can't do it."

Another growl from the other end, "well it can't be Matt because he's a dominant, like he should be. So it has to be Charles."

"Right. Or - that leaves me," he said softly, the words burning as they came out of his mouth. "I'll do it."

"Are you even capable? You would have to obey someone, which is something you haven't done a single day in your life."

"Doesn't seem I have much of a choice. It'll make your partner happy cos his daughter won't be a slave and you'll get your precious money and bonus - you'll be rid of me. Win-win-win. But there is somethin' I want."

"So for the only time in your entire ridiculous life, you're finally going to be useful? You and Charlie getting marked submissive was the single biggest tragedy of my life. Certainly nice to be able to do something decent with it. Oh, and do tell what that might be?"

Austin took a big breath, steadying his quivering voice as his whole world was crashing around him. "Leave Charlie and Matt alone. Ya let 'em live their lives they way they want and ya don't interfere. Let Matt write, let Charlie get claimed, and leave 'em the hell alone."

"Matt's taking over the business, there's nothing I can do about that. But as for Charles - fine."

That would have to do - for now. "Fine then. Make the arrangements. Don't breathe a word of this to mama."
