I find it deeply weird when I see other white people make sneeringly condemning posts about how corny and/or stupid white people are for things that are completely unrelated to racism or stuff that upholds systemic racism in any way. Like... dude. My guy. I do not think this is the substantive allyship to people of color that you believe it to be.

#also just saying but 'white people are uniquely corny' is not entirely harmless as sentiments go #since it implicitly denies the full breadth of humanity to... most humans #by positioning white people as uniquely capable of the flaw of being dumb and uncool #and positions entirely fucking harmless things as irrevocably tied to the violent and unearned privilege of whiteness #which probably is not awesome for poc who happen to be corny in the ways being decried by these posts??#also not to 'we are all africans' but like race is a social construct and whiteness is just a made up idea #which arbitrarily groups together completely unrelated cultures of people with the intent to punish people outside the 'being white' club
