an important principle of fandom (and life, actually) is that if you want more of Less Popular Thing, it is good to create positive spaces and events for it. however, if you use those spaces to take cracks at the More Popular Thing which you perceive as stealing oxygen from your Less Popular Thing, you do not increase the audience for Less Popular Thing. you decrease it, because you irk people who like both Things. and depending on the relative popularity, there are quite possibly more people who like both Things than people who only like Less Popular Thing. (not to mention - you kill your chances of recruiting people who like More Popular Thing but are neutral on or haven’t considered Less Popular Thing.)
you’re not campaigning for votes (where There Can Be Only One), you’re marketing for a share of people’s attention. don’t be petty. be effective.

this is assuming its on art you normally wouldn't jump to reblog. i myself only rb stuff i really really like so .
The 'rude/demanding' tone would be stuff along the lines of "if you like but don't reblog I'll [threat]" which i see surprisingly often, both serious and more silly

The city had stood for a thousand years or more and had long been the seat of power, a seat usually held by the nation's conquerors. First the men of the North who held it for three hundred years, who named it Dark Water in the old tongue, then by the kingdom to the East. The invading Easterners built a paling around the city to hold it and it came to be that the area within it was simply known as the Pale.
The city is filled now with scores of artificers and apothecaries from far off lands who pay little tax, employing locals who are valued in large part for their fluency in their coloniser's tongue. Once Dark Water, then Pale, now something still new and uncertain. A city proud and ashamed of its history. That loves its dead poets who could not bear to stay there and will not pay its living ones enough to stay.
Describe a city as if it's a location in a fantasy novel and I will try to guess the city

Point of order, Miyazaki's Laputa is a reference to the floating island of Laputa in Jonathan Swift's novel Gulliver's Travels, and it is very likely Swift did that on purpose.
My only real and valid writing tip is that you google every word you make up for your fantasy stories. That's It

If you center the people you hate to the point where you run entire social media accounts dedicated to complaining about them, yelling at them, etc you're going to make yourself and everyone else around you miserable.
I'm not saying never complain but ffs focus more of your time and energy on the things and people you love and on positive things you can do to help others and less on screaming at and about entire groups of people. Stop feeding your misery by burying your face in it.

historical accuracy in fics is so funny to me. googling if they had grapefruit spoons in 1845 but also letting two men get married. fuck homophobia, tell me about cutlery.

It remains kind of wild to me that when I graduated from lurker to being more active in fandom I was considered Very baby at 20, but now there's a lot of people who consider fans over, like, 23 to be essentially pathetic old crones (because the assumption is always that they are women) with no life who need to grow up. 23 is baby! And I am still in no way an Elder at 36. I'm toddler at best.

I feel like I'm not really a real person sometimes. Like if people were songs by The Turtles, I'm Elenore and everyone else is Happy Together. I'm a pisstake satire and most of the time you can't tell the difference but seem just off enough to throw people off balance.

Having watched and/or listened to a fair few actual play podcasts at this point, I have the controversial yet brave opinion that almost all "canonical" romances on TTRPG podcasts are Bad Actually, whether they are PC/PC or PC/NPC. NPC/NPC romances are usually fine, but (almost) any time a player character is in the mix it's just... awful. Flaccid and boring at best, awkward and unpleasant at worst.
I don't know if it's that improv is not the best format for this kind of storytelling or something else, but I just... I do not want to watch two platonic work colleagues awkwardly roleplay a romance. All I need is some zesty crumbs and I'll make up the rest in my head. I was raised in the queerbaiting trenches on zesty crumbs, it's fine. Please don't attempt to improve on the crumbs, you'll ruin them.
