my problem is that i've driven myself in a corner by arguing "isagi's nel arc stories are unsatisfying on purpose (and they're secretly brilliant)" and man. you never want to be in a position to argue that any story is bad on purpose, i mean i'll keep doing it for blue lock specifically (and keep posting about how this should be done for blue lock specifically) but no one else should do it

#no you see it's trying to write a corruption arc for an mc who doesn't know they were corrupted from the perspective of that mc #while fooling the average reader through its unchanging tone and misleading presentation not to notice the mc's corruption #but also the corruption was made possible because of basic traits the mc already held so it also doubles as commentary on his character #and the concept of the 'shonen protagonist' in general #and if his story is momentarily dissatisfying it's only because readers are picking up on the cracks that this manga exposed without #pointing it out explicitly. supremely ambitious writing okay the flaws are by design it's secretly 5head i promise #everything will be revealed explicitly in like four volumes it'll be awesome just trust m— [hit by a dolphin]#kaiserposting
