that being said, you know, if kaiser is going to confront his father i want for him to reject violence not out of any moralistic principle but simply because he recognizes that he doesn't truly enjoy violence or grow positively from it, or because he rejects the whole cycle of abuse that keeps him chained to violence whether he inflicts it or is harmed by it. that seems more blue lock-ish to not care about morals but to do whatever is right for you and for kaiser violence just happens to not be right for him

kaiser is like 90% non-shonen/10% shonen (the 10% stands out because the expected percentage is 0%) and while i think he's fated to end up like 45% non-shonen/55% shonen, maybe blue lock will pull a fast one and he’ll end up 75% shonen. i think that's still too much for him though
#just for now my ideal is 55% non-shonen/45% shonen but stuff like this ultimately comes down to preference#kaiserposting

what i feel could feasibly happen in canon is a development where kaiser returns home (by choice) to see his father, if only because kaiser is kept trapped in his environment by the pressure of returning to an abusive home and it might be narratively convenient to solve the issue of kaiser playing football out of fear by having him confront the source of that fear
this the ultimate difference between kaiser and amaya atgw (one of kaiser's ancestors), kaiser only fought his father for the sake of his ball (himself) whereas amaya killed his parents and therefore completely cut ties with them. kaiser lives with a constant underlying fear of his father and of abusive violence (all the while reproducing his father's abuse) and one possible solution would be for kaiser to choose to confront his father so that he may conclusively cut ties with him and with violence for real this time
(this is more of an "i think blue lock might do this" type of development than an "i absolutely want this to happen" thing (mostly because as a fan, i don't think kaiser should be obligated to go meet his father) but i'll accept it if it does happen) (also it's partly about the non-shonenness(?) of kaiser's story, but this development would make kaiser both more shonen and less shonen. i'm not sure what blue lock's ideal shonen to non-shonen ratio is for kaiser specifically)

what i think kaiser needs (in order of importance)
the option to quit football
professional medical treatment for the abuse he endured throughout his entire childhood
for santa claus to be real
(the only non-negotiable is number 1, i'll understand if he never receives professional treatment on account of blue lock being a shonen manga and santa claus being real is shorthand for "i want kaiser to gain knowledge of what it means to receive a gift, an unconditional expression of sincerity that begets gratitude" but there's also a chance kaiser could discover its meaning by himself (as he did once when he gifted himself with the ball he became) so it may not matter too much in the end)

no matter how it's approached i feel everything leads to the same conclusion "he needs to be given the option to quit football" there just isn't a way around this. like if there was a way around this blue lock would have fixed him already

the basis for kaiser (character) is that he's a gift, that his true identity is that of a gift, and that he is fundamentally a football who becomes a blessing-gift in an act of self-creation self-discovery self-love so when i think about how kaiser could develop i always think of it through the filter of how kaiser can reach an endpoint where he becomes a gift and embraces himself through playing football
kaiser's pxg partnership with isagi depended greatly on kaiser still believing that his core was malice and theft (his analysis of himself in ch.294), which is why that partnership was a failure on the part of kaiser to positively grow, but that ending for kaiser also affirms how kaiser could never have succeeded in true growth and self-discovery on account of his circumstances (of being forced to play to survive) preventing him from learning how to play football with joy and desire—> in order to become a gift (football), kaiser needs to be gifted the option to quit football
