"A Path Beyond the Sword" - Aram x AesSedai!Reader
Summary: A former Aes Sedai who’s sworn off violence protects a caravan from Whitecloaks, with Aram by her side. Together, they discover the strength in peace.
A/n: based on this request 'Hey! Can I request something with Aram from Wheel of time? Last episode reminded me how cute he is 👀
The wind carried the scent of wildflowers and dust, mingling with the subtle, earthy smell of the forest. The caravan stretched out before you—an eclectic band of people, each one marked by the simple robes of the Way of the Leaf, walking along the dirt path with purpose, but also with a calm serenity. There were traders, children, elderly, and young men—people from all walks of life, united by the same desire for peace.
You walked among them, cloaked in the deep, familiar green of an Aes Sedai, but you were not like other Aes Sedai. You had long since sworn off the sword, the violence, the killing. The rage that once burned in you had been tempered by the lessons of peace, by the quiet voice of the One Power that had guided you away from destruction.
It was a decision that had come with great cost. The other Aes Sedai had never quite understood, nor had the warriors of the world. You had been cast out, deemed too soft, too weak to be of use. But in the silence that followed, you had found your own strength, a strength born from restraint rather than aggression.
Yet, despite the peace you sought, the world continued to wage war around you. The Way of the Leaf seemed to be a refuge—a place where you could teach others that peace was the only true way.
Suddenly, the sound of hooves thundered in the distance, accompanied by the unmistakable clink of armor. Your eyes narrowed as you felt the familiar sting of anxiety in your chest.
The Whitecloaks.
You had never been able to stand the sight of them—self-righteous, bloodthirsty men who thought the world could only be righted through force and fear. You could sense them before you saw them—six of them, their white cloaks fluttering behind them like the wings of some twisted bird of prey. Their faces were masked with disdain, their swords drawn in search of any excuse to spill blood.
“Stay close,” you murmured to the group, and they instinctively huddled together, sensing the danger in your voice. You had no intention of letting anyone come to harm, but you also knew that to fight would not solve the problem.
One of the Whitecloaks, a tall man with a cruel smile, spurred his horse forward. “Aes Sedai,” he sneered. “Come to teach us your magic, have you? Or perhaps you’ve lost your nerve, hmm? Too afraid of the blood we’ll shed to lift a finger?”
The leader of the caravan, a burly man with a soft face, stepped forward, his voice steady. “We are the followers of the Way of the Leaf. We seek peace, not violence. Let us pass.”
The Whitecloak sneered. “You seek peace, and yet you stand in our way? You will pay for that insolence.”
Aram, who had been walking quietly among the caravan members, stepped forward from the crowd, his eyes hardening as he reached for his staff, the motion instinctual but restrained. He had grown up knowing violence too well, but here, in the Way of the Leaf, he had learned a different path. A path of peace. Yet, the sight of these men, of their arrogance and readiness to strike, stirred something deep inside him.
“I won't let them harm you,” Aram said softly, standing just a step behind you, his voice steady but tinged with the quiet rage that had been a part of him for so long. He wasn't the warrior he had once been, but his instincts still ran sharp.
You placed a hand on his shoulder, a quiet gesture that grounded him. “We don’t fight to kill,” you reminded him, the words a calming force. He nodded, his expression softening, but his stance remained ready.
You stepped forward, raising a hand in front of the caravan leader, and with a calm that surprised even you, spoke clearly. “I will not let you harm these people.”
The Whitecloak laughed, his sword glinting in the light. “You think your magic will save you? You are nothing.”
But the words felt hollow in your ears. You were not here to kill. You weren’t here to make war, no matter how much they pushed. You were a weapon, yes, but a weapon of peace. A weapon meant to protect, to shield—not to strike.
With a deep breath, you reached out with the One Power. A subtle shield of air rippled around the group of Whitecloaks, trapping them in place. It was not a deadly attack, not one designed to harm—but it was enough to slow them down, enough to force them to reconsider. The leader of the Whitecloaks looked up, his face twisted in frustration.
“What is this?!” he shouted, pulling against the air shield that held him in place.
“I won’t let you harm anyone,” you said again, your voice calm but unwavering. Your hands remained steady at your sides, the weave of air tightening around the Whitecloaks, rendering them immobile without a single drop of blood spilled.
But just as you thought the situation might de-escalate, one of the Whitecloaks—another man, younger and eager for violence—lunged forward, sword raised.
You stepped between him and the caravan, raising your hand just as the sword came down. With a subtle push of air, you diverted the blade, the weapon flying harmlessly to the side and embedding itself in the ground a few feet away.
The man stumbled, glaring at you with venom. “You’ll regret that, Aes Sedai,” he spat.
Aram, standing at your side, tightened his grip on his staff, but you could feel the tension in him. His lips parted, a line of warning in his eyes, but before he could speak, the leader of the Whitecloaks called out to his men.
“Hold! Stand down.”
The tension in the air was thick, the caravan holding its collective breath. You stood your ground, the One Power swirling just beneath your skin, ready to act at any moment—though you would not strike to kill. You would only stop them, slow them, but never harm them.
The leader of the Whitecloaks studied you for a moment, then gave a sharp nod to his men. “We will meet again, Aes Sedai. You’ll find that we do not forget easily.”
With that, they turned and rode off, leaving the air still and the people of the caravan exhaling in relief. You released the shield around them, the tension in your shoulders melting away as the threat disappeared into the distance.
The caravan leader approached, his expression full of gratitude and awe. “Thank you,” he said, his voice rough but sincere. “I didn’t know what you could do. We would have been lost without you.”
You nodded but said nothing. There was no need for praise, not when the peace had been preserved. You didn’t want recognition, only safety for those who needed it.
As the caravan resumed its slow, steady pace, you found yourself walking beside Aram. His eyes were on the path ahead, but there was something different in the way he looked at you—an unspoken respect, an understanding.
“You... are different,” he said after a while, his voice gentle. “Most Aes Sedai would have killed them.”
“I don’t believe in killing,” you said simply. “Not anymore. I’ve sworn to never take a life again. It’s the only way I know how to make peace.”
Aram’s expression shifted, a thoughtful look in his eyes as he considered your words. He had seen war and violence. He had lived a life of swords, the memory of his people’s destruction still too fresh. But in you, he saw something different—something he wasn’t sure how to put into words.
“You... you could walk with us,” he said after a pause, his tone tentative but sincere. “You’ve already shown that you can protect without fighting to kill. That’s the way of the Leaf. You’ve got the heart for it.”
You stopped, your eyes meeting his. There was a quiet earnestness in his gaze, and you could sense the conviction in his words. Aram had lived through so much violence, so much bloodshed. He had sought refuge in the Way of the Leaf, and now, he saw something in you that he hoped could make his own path clearer.
“I’ve walked away from violence,” you said softly. “But maybe... maybe I can help you walk this path with peace in your heart.”
Aram smiled, a small, genuine smile that reached his eyes. “Then come with us,” he said. “Find a new way.”
And in that moment, as the firelight flickered across his face, you felt a new chapter beginning—a path where peace and strength could coexist, where you could help guide others to the same light you had found, and maybe even heal some of the wounds that ran deeper than the sword.

The Broadcaster steals the show with chic venue

Sampling the delights of The Broadcaster in collaboration with Hometainment🍹
The Broadcaster is a chic restaurant and rooftop bar spanning 4 floors overlooking the iconic Television Centre, serving incredibly tasty seasonal food and cocktails, and with al-fresco dining on all floors it’s perfect for the days when the weather is warmer ☀️
The chic venue can hold up to 300 people for any event style. From parties, corporate bookings to full venue takeovers, the Broadcaster can accommodate both private and semi-private events of all sizes.
I’d definitely return for a meal before heading to the rooftop for a drink - it’s giving vibes of a chic bar in Ibiza.
