Grrr my water cooler has been overheating lately.... the cooling liquid is getting really hot, I guess it's something to do with the cooler itself and not GPU and CPU? Gonna bring bb to our local IT Service today at 3 PM. My soul already dreads not being able to do my nightly VG session, I was always looking forward to it after work.... but it will be ok. And hopefully once the problem is settled I can go back to playing for more than 30mins at a time, and crank the graphics back up to high. And THEN my screenshotting game will be UNSTOPPABLE.

13 + 14 for your hawke?
omg thank you! these got long, so partly hidden under a read more.
13. How far past the canon events that take place in their world have you extended their story, if at all?
Well, he’s a spirit medium. When I played Veilguard I was super fascinated with the idea of a spirit medium, and heard the banter about Emmerich being able to hear Spite, and there’s this one line in VG that got stuck in my head about a spirit who wouldn’t have become a demon if he’d been met with more compassion and understanding, and those two things were kind of what formed the basis for Redd’s story.
He is essentially Anders’ right hand in the Mage Underground for all of acts 1 and 2, weaponizing the connections and knowledge of Kirkwall’s illicit lyrium trade he gained working for Athenril to weaken the templars of Kirkwall’s circle via sabotage.
In the fic I am writing (mostly jn my mind so far) about him, although he is a mage, he manages to defeat the Arishok without being outed as a mage; Anders, however, is identified when he rushes out to heal him in view of the public immediately after (the templars have been closing in on “the Darktown healer” for a while at this point). In act 3 he asks for a boon from Elthina for being made Champion because in the fic I’m writing Champion is a legal title within Kirkwall that comes with certain legal protections, including the right to request one (☝️) boom from the Grand Cleric. He requests the right to marry an apostate and hilariously enough Elthina is like, at this political moment, why not. Plus at this point Anders is only publicly known as Apostate Who Heals The Poor For Free, he has not been identified as having any connection to the MU. So refusing would make her look pretty bad— Anders is a very sympathetic victim at this point. So Anders gets to be alive and live in a nice mansion AND they both get to keep running the mage underground, yippee yayay.
Uh also without getting into even more detail the rebellion at Kirkwall goes completely differently than it does in canon and he ends up becoming the commander of a cell of mage guerrilla fighters for a while.
He’s also a chain smoker who rolls his own cigs, which I think counts because you can’t smoke in DA2. Constantly smoking to keep himself from eating people. He has no sense of smell also so the combination of these factors means he smells like shit all the time and neither notices nor cares. Stinky4stinky Handers.
14. If you had to narrow it down to 2 things that you MUST keep in mind while working with your OC, what would those things be?
Red Hawke is implied to not have had the best relationship with Malcolm. For my particular red Hawke, this stems in part from being made unduly responsible for his sibling’s lives, on many an occasion, from an irresponsibly young age, although he’d never admit that as it would require admitting he was once a scared child.
It also stems from the fact that despite being an apostate himself Malcolm still disbelieved Red about his experiences as a spirit medium since they didn’t align with the teachings of the chantry and the Circle at the time. My Hawke’s problem with Malcolm is that he was not anti-chantry enough.

VFD is not a substitute for a Gearbox
Tumblr media
When VFDs - Variable Frequency Drive - made their appearance about 50 years ago, it was considered a fascinating invention. Over the years VFDs have seen many changes and it has become a reliable equipment for speed control in different ways. In the enthusiasm to sell, VFDs were offered as a substitute for a mechanical /hydraulic speed variators. (speed reducers/ speed increasers – rolled in one). Advantage was tremendous -no mechanical equipment to maintain, power savings, soft start and smooth acceleration. Every equipment has its own niche area of application. Stepping out of this without in depth study of driven equipment’s speed -torque requirement leads to failures and a needless bad reputation to the equipment itself. Centrifugal pumps constitute the largest number among pumps used in industry. Along with their cousins – centrifugal fans and blowers – they form a group that has benefited from VFD. Flow regulation and power savings – both in one stroke! However, the story is quite different when VFD is applied to PD - positiv displacment - pumps. Here is a case history of misapplied VFD which was subsequently replaced with a fixed ratio gearbox! User: a multinational lubricant manufacturer – lube oils and greases , Location : India Application: Pumping of High viscosity additives in a lube oil blending plant. Drive for a 30 HP, 8 pole motor directly driving a Twin-Screw Pump. Speed variation between 720 to 360 rpm by VFD ,to handle a product viscosity ranging from 6000 to 17000 cSt A smaller gear pump was replaced by a larger Twin Screw pump to enhance plant capacity. Pump manufacturer offered pump with a direct coupled 8 pole motor with VFD, eliminating speed reducing gear box. This pleased the customer – as it saved space and maintenance. Operational speed range was selected as 360 to 400 rpm.  Logic: 8 pole VFD compatible motor ( 50Hz) will deliver approx. 720 rpm. VFD will bring down the frequency to achieve 360 - 400 rpm speed range. Lower viscosity fluids could be handled at higher speeds if needed. Motor & Pump were tested at Pump manufacture’s works as a unit at 720 rpm on VG 68 oil. Test went as smoothly as planned. VFD was directly purchased by client from a VFD supplier. At plant site when the unit was put into operation – the motor tripped even before reaching the required speed. Manual rotation, lowering product viscosity be heating the additive, torque boost feature of VFD… everything in the manual was tried out without success. This included several visits of service engineers from Pump manufacturer – since pump was under warranty. Meanwhile, customer had to reinstall the earlier gear pump assembly to keep the production going instead of no production at all.
Tumblr media
Fig 1 Observation at site:  The sketch describes the installation. (see fig 1) Inherent mistakes: the vessel holding the additive, approx. 6500 litres had a limpet coil on the top side. This would never heat the additive to the required temperature at pump intake! Hot oil circulation was intended as a means of keeping the additive temperature in the range of 50 to 55 °C.  Obviously, the original design of the vessel may have been for a different purpose like preventing solidification of lighter layer of liquid. It could have never served for heating the contents of the vessel – in the first place no matter how long the heating process is kept ON. Additive was at ambient temperature despite the circulation of hot oil through the limpet coil. High viscosity of the product meant high friction losses. Product to metal drag is even higher than between the layers of product. Result: full dia of pipe would never be available for liquid movement – only the centre portion of the pipe was serving as effective conduit! Pressure drop was high as indicated by the readings on a compound gauge: high vacuum at pump suction despite a positive with 2 m of liquid column – when pump shaft turned a few rotations before causing motor to trip. Starting torque of pump with high viscous medium is much higher than in lube oil medium. When testing in lube oil this fact can’t be noticed. Motor operating with VFD delivers lower power although the full torque is available at speeds less than the rated speed of motor. Drive motor rating 22 kW @ 720 rpm, against actual  power requirement of 11kW. Despite this, the pump could not be operated. Points to note: a 30 HP motor will produce only 15 HP output when frequency is reduced from 50 to 25 Hz since Torque is constant during 0 to 50 Hz operation. VFD briefly offers same Starting Torque as a DOL start would with increased voltage at reduced frequency. This is available for just 2 seconds. Pump could be rotated by hand with a wrench (300 Nm), hence starting with a motor was not doubted. There is a negative margin (295 vs 291 Nm) on Torque when using a 30 HP, 8 pole motor with VFD! Additive at ambient temp (30 ⁰C) has higher viscosity resulting in higher torque requirement by pump. Lesson learnt:   VFD is not a substitute for a speed reducer gear box  If specified viscosity is lower than actual – there will be problems! Solution offered: Replace the existing motor by a 15 kW, 4 pole motor with a 4:1 ratio speed reducer to achieve 360 rpm without VFD. At first, this looked strange but on explaining the facts and admitting the fact the drive selection was flawed, customer agreed to accept the change with no commercial implications. Accordingly, the entire pump+ motor assembly was sent to manufacturer located about 200 km away. New baseplate, coupling, (4:1 ratio) gearbox with 15 kW, 4 pole motor were arranged to couple with the same pump. The completed unit was reinstalled at the plant at same location. When commissioned – the unit performed as per expectation with no glitch. The current consumption being well below the rated current of the motor. The test was continued till completion of the batch. Satisfied, customer signed the service report but desired to know what the “gimmick”! The explanation is simple: Pump starting torque with 6000 cSt fluid: approx. 300 Nm.  … (Ref A 6) Operating torque for duty condition : 291 Nm , Power needed at 360 rpm= 11 kW Motor Torque (rated) ; ( 30 HP , 720 rpm) = 291 Nm    (Ref A 3) Ratio: Tst/Tr = 2  for DOL starting or with Torque Boost Feature on. Available torque for Pump starting: 291x 2 = 582 Nm with 30 HP, 8 pole motor with VFD  ..(Ref A 7) Since the Motor with VFD start is much like a soft starter – picking up speed gradually. During the period from start to reach full speed, the torque remains constant but not the power. Power = Torque x Speed/ constant, in SI units, Power – kW, Torque – Nm, Speed -1/s. Numerical value of constant is 9550. High current drawn during the acceleration period caused motor to trip. What happens when a 15 kW (20HP) motor with 4:1 speed reducer replaced the 22 kW drive? The torque of a 15 kW, 4 pole motor is only 98 Nm- far less that what is needed. However, the speed reducer acts as a torque multiplier in the same ratio: 98 x 4 = 392 Nm! …( Ref B 3) This is the rated torque value. On DOL start this will be 2 times higher I,e, = 392 x 2 = 784 Nm!! …. …(Ref B 7) If the process parameters are met by the pump - any customer is happy. But it is not necessary to go through such experience to learn a lesson! To facilitate pumping, two suggestions were made: Place the limpet coil at the lower section of the vessel. The entire mass of additives will be heated by convection. (The limpet coils at the upper section made no sense – at least for this application) Provide a full flow by- pass across the suction and discharge ports with a valve in between. Keep the valve fully open during starting and then gradually close it to get full flow. This will be especially useful if liquid viscosity is higher than expected. Curiosity does not die: why did the manufacturer suggest a direct drive with VFD instead of well tested Geared motor drive for low speed operations? The engineer who had made the pump selection had already left the company but when contacted said:” it was customer’s request to avoid gearbox in the proposal “! After all this episode was over, we asked the customer if this was true. He said “Yes”! Honest customer – a rare commodity these days! Ref.   Motor 30 HP / 8 pole with VFD (A) Motor 20 HP/4 pole with 4:1 ratio reducer (B) 1 Power at rated speed (720 rpm) HP 30 20 2 Power required at 360 rpm, HP 15 20 3 Drive Torque @ 360 rpm 291 Nm 392 Nm 4 Torque required by Pump at rated speed (360 rpm) 295 Nm 295 Nm 5 Pump starting Torque Without additive 100 Nm 100 Nm 6 Pump starting torque with additive 300 Nm 300 Nm 7 Drive starting torque 582 Nm With Torque Boost feature 784 Nm   Points to note: a 30 HP motor will produce only 15 HP output when frequency is reduced from 50 to 25 Hz since Torque is constant during 0 to 50 Hz operation. VFD briefly offers same Starting Torque as a DOL start would with increased voltage at reduced frequency. This is available for just 2 seconds. Pump shaft could be rotated by hand with a wrench (300 Nm), hence starting with a motor was not doubted. There is a negative margin (295 vs 291 Nm) on Torque when using a 30 HP, 8 pole motor with VFD! Additive at ambient temp (30 ⁰C) has higher viscosity resulting in higher torque requirement by pump. Lessons learnt:   VFD is not a substitute for a speed reducer gear box . Gear box acts as a torque Multiplier – VFD can only ensure constant torque equal to motor rated torque. The Power output of a motor will reduce in direct proportion to speed or Frequency when a VFD is used. If specified viscosity is lower than actual – there will be problems! Vaping — what is vaping and is it safe?FEBRUARY 13, 2018

There are so many ways to enjoy cannabis, but vaping is one method that is quickly gaining popularity. This quick-acting and relatively discreet way to medicate is generally considered more safe and healthy than smoking, but it has its own set of harms, and drawbacks, and the science is still out on the additives put in vapes. Read on to learn more about this smokeless cannabis option.
What is vaping cannabis and why is it preferable to smoking?
“Vaping” is short for “vaporization” — and commonly refers to a method of cannabis consumption where the user inhales cannabis “vapor” or aerosol. To create this vapor, the active compounds in cannabis are heated at low temperatures. Unlike with smoking cannabis, no combustion or burning takes place at these lower temperatures — so there is no smoke, “the cannabis vaporizer appears to be an ideal harm-reduction approach to safer use,” researchers concluded in 2015.
A 2001 study concluded cannabis heated to 200C vaporized THC without creating several carcinogens associated with combustion — benzene, plus toluene and naphthalene.
Some people prefer vaping over smoking because it involves less side effects and risks for the respiratory system. Smoke can irritate the lungs, cause allergies, and lead to the symptoms of chronic bronchitis (specifically chronic coughing and phlegm). Vaping, on the hand, is much easier on the respiratory system, a 2015 review concluded.
How do you vape?
To vape cannabis you need a vaporizer. These electronic devices can be as small as a pen, or as large as a toaster. They come in desktop, handheld, and portable sizes and are usually designed with a power source (battery or plug), heating element (heater or atomizer), a chamber to pack either cannabis flower or concentrates (or come with a pre-filled cartridge of concentrate), a button to activate the heat, and mouthpiece to inhale the vapor through. Once the cannabis is in place, most vaporizers allow you to simply push a button and inhale.
Note that vaporizers sometimes feel like you aren’t getting enough vapor. When using a vaporizer, you often need to draw in the vapor longer and softer than you would if you were smoking.

How is it different than smoking?
Vaporizers gently heat the herb, rather than burning it, so there is no smoke involved. The vapor is thinner and less flavorful than smoke, but it is more efficient. Keep in mind that the high from vaping can be very different from smoking. It can also take longer to onset and last a little longer. A 2017 meta-review found that “Concretely, vaporizers … may offer potential for reduced health risks, especially concerning respiratory problems.”
What are popular vaping products?
There are many types of vaping products. You can find dry flower vapes or cannabis extract vapes, and these vary from large desktop models, to small portable vapes, to vape pens that are small enough to keep in your pocket. The Pax 3 is a leading portable dry herb vaporizer sold internationally. The Volcano Vaporizer is the industry leader in desktop vaporizers. Each legalization state has a variety of brand making pre-filled disposable vaporizers like AbsoluteXtracts in California, Avitas in Washington, Select Strains in Oregon and O.pen in Colorado.
How do people obtain vaping devices?
You can find vaping devices online, at dispensaries or at local smoke shops.
What do vapes cost?
Most vapes cost anywhere from $25 for a vape cart to $300 for a Pax 3. Some high end vapes go for even more.
Pax Labs’ new Artist Series for Pax 3 and Pax Era.
Who might vaping benefit?
People with lung issues and throat issues may find vaping is easier on them than smoking. Even for mild cases of irritation from smoking, switching to vaping can help. Vaping can also be easier to measure cannabis dosages than smoking or edibles, especially with dose-specific vape pens.
Is vaping dangerous?
There haven’t been any cases of overdosing on vape, and vaping cannabis is not implicated in lung damage or cancer. But the vaporizer could malfunction and injure you if misused. There’s also unresolved health questions about vaporizer additives, as well as side effects and contraindications for THC use.
Some vape cartridges use additives, and the science behind these additives and their effects is still not fully understood. Project CBD recently released a report revealing that some of these additives could be harmful to humans when heated.
For example, the common additive propylene glycol can cause asthma and allergies, a 2010 study found. Not all additives are equal, either. A 2017 study of additives heated to 230°C “Propelyne Glycol 400 produced significantly higher levels of acetaldehyde and formaldehyde than Propelyne Glycol, medium chain triglycerides [MCT], and vegetable glycerin [VG]. Formaldehyde production was also significantly greater in PG compared with MCT and VG. Acrolein production did not differ significantly across the agents.” Use low temperatures when vaping to avoid creating these carcinogenic byproducts.
As UC San Francisco anti-tobacco specialist Stanton Glantz told PBS, “No matter who manufactures or sells [vaporizers], the end result is the same. “You’re inhaling hot aerosol ultra-fine particles, aldehyde and [THC],” Glantz says, “and that’s not so good.”
Also, consuming THC can sometimes cause dizziness, low blood pressure, heart rate increase, and temporary memory & concentration lapses, or anxiety. THC may be habit-forming for some people. Also, doctors generally do not recommend THC to people with a family history or personal history of mental illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, or anxiety, or depression, because THC — like other drugs including alcohol — can exacerbate those symptoms in some individuals.
Does vaping create second-hand smoke?
No. Vaping doesn’t create any smoke, second or first hand. But vaping does create second hand aerosols, which could potentially cause those around you to become affected.
A 2014 study of nicotine-based e-cigarettes found they created no second-hand smoke, but vape aerosols generated toxins “such as formaldehyde, acetaldehyde, acetic acid and other toxins emitted into the air, though at lower levels compared to conventional cigarette emissions.”
Is vaping in public legal?
No. Just like smoking cannabis in public, vaping cannabis in public is not legally permitted. It’s just like smoking in the eyes of the law.

Ssangyong Motor is stepping out of quality problem.
The domestic automobile market was hit by a 'big chaos'. Hyundai and Kia Motors, which have established a solo system in the domestic market, have been banned from sales due to the announcement of recall measures of 170,000 units due to the second-two engine failure. Last year, Renault Samsung Motors, Korea GM, and Ssangyong Motors, which had been leading the way with their flagship car models, weakened their chasing power as their new car weight dropped. As a result, all five Korean automakers are likely to see sales volume fluctuate in the 'fine dust' category. Hyundai, Kia Motors, New Vehicle Popular in Cold Water Hyundai · Kia Motors This year's earnings signaled a red light. The company has decided to recall about 170,000 vehicles with defects in the production of the Seta 2 engine. Recall costs are also a problem, but the quality controversy hurts the fact that it can put cold water on the popularity of new cars. The Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs announced that the Hyundai-Kia Automobile recalled vehicle will be a Seta 2 engine-equipped vehicle manufactured before August 2013. The target audience is 112,702 Grandeur (HG), 6092 Sonata (YF), 34,153 K7 (VG), 1,3032 K5 (TF) and 5,131 Sportsage (SL) An old model produced three years ago is subject to a recall, but consumer distrust has spread to the entire engine produced by Hyundai. That's why there is a concern that sparks may also spill into the Grandeur IG, which is equipped with the new Seta 2 engine, which is not subject to the recall. The Grandeur IG is equipped with three types of engines: the Lambda 2 3.0 GDI, the 8-speed automatic transmission, the R2.2e-VGT 8-speed automatic + ISG and the theta 2 improved 2.4GDI next-generation six-speed automatic transmission. At the time of the launch of the Grandeur IG, the Hyundai Motor said that there is no problem with the Seta 2 engine produced in Korea. On October 25 last year, Hyundai commented on the Seta 2 engine, which had a controversial controversy, with a preliminary press conference before launching the new 'Grandeur IG' in the Yangjae-dong, Seoul, Korea. It is related to the cleanliness of the factory and the theta 2 engine applied to the Grandeur IG has been manufactured under the 100% cleanliness control at the domestic Asan and Hwaseong factories. According to the Hyundai Motor Recall Plan, the Seta 2 engine, which was produced before August 2013, had a problem in the process of making an oil supply hole in an engine part called a crankshaft. After Aug. 2013, Hyundai Motor (Hyundai) compensated for the problem of washing up the engine. However, the Ministry of Land has estimated that domestic recalls are also related to the cleanliness of the production process. Hyundai plans to investigate whether there is any evidence that intentionally conceals or reduces defects. Concerns about the possibility that sales will be impacted immediately next month are spreading to the front lines. On October 10, an official at a Hyundai dealership in Gyeonggi Province said, "Even if consumers do not believe that the car is not the same car as the recalled model, there is no answer." Although the contract was not canceled at the moment, there are contract holders, so we are in the process of preparing measures. " ◇ I want to pursue the minor three companies ... ', A new car capable of solo Hyundai and Kia Motors are in a bad position for quality minors. Even if you want to pursue it, you do not have to buy a new car that will give you the power to sell it right away. Rather, Renault Samsung and GM Korea were also involved in the same issue of quality, so 'crackdown on the family' became an urgent task. Renault Samsung recalled that the medium-sized sedan SM6 was found to fail to operate the airbag in the event of a collision due to poor manufacturing of the curtain airbag inflator. The target is SM6 gasoline, gasoline turbo, LPG and diesel manufactured from September 20 to September 30 last year and October 20 to November 2 last year. The recall is about 4,300. It is not only silk that SM6 is caught in quality controversy. The SM6 was recalled last month, with more than 90,000 units being recalled due to lack of fixation on the plastic pedal cover. Consumer distrust is intensifying as problems arise in the two categories of brakes and airbags that can have a significant impact on driving safety in two months. GM Korea has already canceled production due to the early quality issue of the all-new sedan 'All New Cruise', which was released with an ambitious launch. It was a problem that the Japanese Takata airbag mounted on the cruise caused the problem, which delayed delivery of the car customer by more than a month. The period of enjoying the effects of new cars is also reduced. Ssangyong Motor is stepping out of quality problem. But it is not a situation to slow down the tension. Thibolli continues to sell for over 5,000 units a month, but Hyundai decided to introduce a new car called Kona in the same weight class in the first half. It is inevitable that earnings will be hit in 2H. It plans to recover sales volume through launch of G4 Rexon next month, but it is a task to surpass Kia Motors' Mohave, a stronghold of this division. Analysts say automobile market dominance this year is different from last year. The Hyundai and Kia Motors, which introduced new models with heavy weight, were braked by the controversy over the Seta 2 engine. In other words, it is expected that the market dominance may shake even in small and mid-term variables, as each company has a homework assignment. Kim Pil - soo, a professor at Daelim University 's automotive department, said, "Each company has difficulty in drawing their own pictures. "If there is a quality problem, it will be hit by a good new car," he said. We should diversify marketing while responding promptly to small controversies. "
