Nord’s Bread Hub Opens First Branch in SM North EDSA
The Vikings have long conquered the Philippines with their Vikings Luxury Buffet restaurants scattered all across the country from Pampanga in the North and all the way to Davao in Mindanao. Now, their little brother has just arrived in Metro Manila and is set to makes waves as well, this time featuring well-crafted specialty breads with a more relaxed and casual dining experience.
Nord's Bread Hub is an urban style bakery and cafe that offers a variety of Artisanal breads as well as healthy concept light meals, snacks and desserts. Think of it as a spin-off of Vikings’ bread and pastry section, so if you are a fan of their buffet, then I’m sure you will also enjoy the wide selection of breads and comfort food items available here. Nord’s Bread Hub is located at the third level of SM North EDSA The Block, just below the Vikings Luxury Buffet branch on the fourth level. If you don’t have the time for a huge feast at Vikings, then Nord’s Bread Hub will satisfy your cravings with a quick and tasty meal.
The cafe has a big and comfortable open dining area in the middle of the mall. This is a place where you can relax and unwind with a cup of coffee and some light breads before or after a busy day. The homey design and charming ambiance is a contrast to the frantic pace at the buffet restaurant, so it gives diners an option to take a break and recharge.
I decided to have lunch at Nord’s Bread Hub last week after I passed by the mall and saw that they had quietly opened earlier this month. I’m not a coffee drinker so I ordered their Hot Choco (P130) which is my type of hot beverage.
For those who like their drinks cold and sweet, the Salted Caramel (P165) will be a better option with its big mug of refreshing frozen Vanilla with caramel. They also have some healthier alternatives like the Beet Root Zinger (P180) if you want to cut down on the calories.
Nord’s Bread Hub also offers the new SIP Purified Water which has pure water filtered through volcanic rocks and bottled at the source. This is my new favorite water and I make sure to keep hydrated by always bringing along a bottle with me.
The highlight at Nord’s Bread Hub is their freshly baked artisanal breads. While each bread tells of a story of their own, every Nord's bread speak of the culinary excellence exhibited in the bread making process. From quality ingredients used to make each distinct dough, to the intricate culinary techniques applied in each bread, Nord's Bread Hub is a haven for all who love the good kind of bread.
Customers simply get a tray and tongs from the counter then pick the breads that they like from the displays. There are so many varieties to choose from including sweet and savory options. You can also have your breads reheated for a better dining experience.
I prefer my breads with some meat on them, which is why I first got the Frank Furter Roll (P58) and the Sausage and Cheese (P63). These are the best options for a quick and filling breakfast or snack which you can just grab and go.
For those who want their breads sweeter, get the Choco Whirl (P58) or the Choco Baguette (P55). There are also several cheesy breads like the Cheesy Volcano and the Cream Cheese Brioche.
Everything looked so tempting so I had try them out. They also have croissants, coffee buns, red bean breads, pork floss buns, and even dessert buns.
For those who want to bring home some treats for their family, they also have ensaymadas, soft rolls, cookies, and crinkles that are packaged for everyone to share.
I was pleasantly surprised to find out that Nord’s Bread Hub also offers salad, sandwiches, pasta, and rice meals together with their bread and pastries. The Oriental Mango Salad (P230) is a light and tasty salad option with its special homemade dressing. I am a newly converted salad lover and this would be a good lunch for me.
I also wanted to try their pasta selection so I ordered the Shrimp and Bacon Pasta (P350). This is served with two pieces of garlic herbed bread for a more filling meal.
Nord’s Bread Hub also offers full rice meals on the menu and one of their house specialties is the Don Malutong (P295). This gorgeous plate comes with scrambled egg, fried rice, mixed vegetables, a side salad, and very crispy bacon strips that will satisfy any pork lover. The bacon is very easy to bite, unlike other crispy versions which are often too hard. The cafe also offers All Day Breakfast items which are served with freshly brewed coffee.
Another house specialty is the Beef Pares Supreme (P390). These come with huge chunks of beef brisket seasoned to perfection on top of fried rice. It also comes with a side salad so you get a complete meal.
Desserts options are plenty at Nord’s Bread Hub and diners have a variety of cakes to choose from at the counter. You can have a slice of their Chocolate Cake or Blueberry Cheese Cake.
I decided to have their Oreo Cheesecake and Mini Raspberry Cake. Both were delicious, which is the quality you would expect from Vikings Luxury Buffet.
I would like to thank Ms. Raquel Bartolome for inviting me to try the newest bread hub in the north. Nord’s Bread Hub will be expanding soon into other malls in the metro, and I’m sure it won’t be too long before they all conquer our appetites once again.
