Hello there!
This blog is mainly for finding roleplays. I roleplay exclusively on Discord (I love making private servers) and am 21+, so minors please DNI. Style-wise I can adapt to my partner, though my favourite way to write is lit for those juicy, introspective moments. NSFW friendly, and I like all sorts of pairs from fxf, mxf, mxm, to any nb pairs. Platonic and found family are fun too!
My messages are always open for people interested in writing with me! I promise I don’t bite, even if some of my muses do.
Tumblr media
Under the cut is a list of characters I’ll thread with (who I’d like to play is bolded, if both are bolded I can do either or), though it’s by no means exhaustive. Regardless of how old this post gets, you can message me at any time for those on this list.

I was tagged by @aewriting to list my top 10 favorite male characters. Everyone should read her list, btw because it made me very nostalgic! I’m listing these historically, starting with the oldest.
1. Jim Craig from ‘The Man From Snowy River’ and ‘Return to Snowy River’ - As my icon reveals, I’m a horse person, so I can comfortably tell you I have seen both movies 1001 times, still cry in the second 1. But I loved the story of a man trying to prove himself in the wake of his father’s death, using his smarts, but also his compassion to succeed.
2. Alex Krycek -the X-Files oh man my first serious fandom love. I was swept up into it, and really my first experience with fanon- because good lord a million words were written about this character we knew nothing about, but he was pretty.
3. Dr. Julian Bashir- I’m a long time fan of trek- didn’t get into Jim Kirk until the reboot, but I loved Bashir and his enduring sense of compassion. Deep Space Nine was an intensely political, I loved how awkward Bashir was in making friends, how he seemed like he was way too much for people- how he slowly won over Miles, and then reveal of his estranged relationship with his parents over illegal genetic alterations? Ugh yes please.
4. Jack McCoy of Law & Order - I dunno, I’m a procedural cop/law show junkie, and I know Dick Wolf turns out a ton of them in cookie-cutter packages, but this guy was amazing, growing up Catholic with a drunk abusive dad forming how he advocated for victims of crime?? Also I’m forever sad about Claire and Jack.
5. Nicholas Fallin - The Guardian, -- so before Simon Baker was the clever and smug Patrick Jane, he played Nicholas Fallin, a rich lawyer who gets caught with drugs, and is sentenced to work for Child Services to represent kids in court. Listen, so many things are wrong with this premise because black/brown guys do hard time for drug offences- but there was something about seeing this slick, closed off man start to examine his own privilege, make changes, fight for sobriety, and work on his outside relationships, especially his tortured relationship with his dad.
6. Lt. Colonel John Sheppard - Stargate: Atlantis -his floppy brown hair and seeming disregard for his own life if it meant saving others? Plus a secret math genius from a very wealthy family with an estranged relationship with his dad? Yeah, I dug it.
7. Raylan Givens - Justified. While Breaking Bad was being hyped as the best off-network show, I was quietly dying at the quality and writing for Justified on Fx. Raylan had all of my kinks as you can see- tortured relationship with his dad, dead mother, firm sense of justice, continually making dumbass decisions with his dick, and he was clever.
8. Brad Colbert - Generation Kill. An outlier in the daddy issues, although he was adopted and has commitment issues after his fiancé left him for his best friend- Brad won my heart in his steely cool, squared away depiction of a Force Recon Marine in Iraq. Smart, resourceful, devoted to his men, and clever enough to gently guide his younger commanding officer in battle decisions (Nate! oh man) - I just loved his competence.
9. Bellamy Blake - The 100. Like from day 1 I loved this guy- he was loyal, protective, but tortured by the actions he had to take to protect his sister- like his overly developed responsibly gland was visible from space. Was I happy at how he fell morally in season 3? No, but it beautifully set up his redemption over the next few years. The man has made mistakes, he tries to do better, he forgives himself on some levels, but he never forgets it.
10. Alex Manes - no surprise fam that I love this character with my whole heart. I just wrote over 100,000 words in his POV. I loved the goth clothes and makeup as a fuck-you senior in high school, I love the sad plaid shirts as an adult. Obviously tortured relationship with his dad ticks that box I have. I just see him as a coolly competent, loyal, smart and compassionate person who will do what it takes to shield others from pain or disappointment, even at the cost of his own self. I think he has a complicated relationship with duty and military service, but ultimately sees it as a useful tool to better himself. It’s only 1 season of information, so I hope I get 7 seasons like I did with Bellamy, to see him rise, fall, and rise again as man who is able to forgive himself.
Next meme let’s do 10 Ten Female characters!
Thanks for the tag! Tagging from my recent notifications-  @zuluoscarecho , @caitlesshea , @larenoz, @malexforlife , @soberqueerinthewild and @unbreakablejemmasimmons

Tumblr media
(BTS (방탄소년단) on Facebook; March 8, 2020.)
WHY EVEN TRY?
BTS must be aware of their mythic status.
In “Dionysus,” BTS compare themselves to the Ancient Greek god of madness, wine, and festivities. He’s the same god who patrons the Maenads, the women who murder Orpheus.
BTS cannot escape their Orphic influences. In fact, they seem to be capitalizing on it. No other K-pop group uses imagery and narrativized structures in their music videos quite like BTS.
SuperM, described as “The Avengers of K-Pop” due to all of them being already established artists under SM Entertainment, are a group suspected to have been created to contest BTS’s fame. But their most popular music video (“Jopping”) is still performance-based rather than story-based.
BTS aren’t just accepting a mythic status, but creating their own.
Tumblr media
In Myth and Meaning: Cracking the Code of Culture, French anthropologist Claude Lévi-Strauss describes the crafting of myths as a way to “understand the world around [us], its nature and [our] society.” He compares mythology to science in that both serve to display “order in the universe” by giving explanations for otherwise unfathomable occurrences like natural disasters, death, and the changing of the seasons.
By imposing a mythic structure on BTS, a very real group of humans whose personal lives must, in reality, expand beyond the constraints of the Orphic myth, I’ve been attempting to bring order to a complex and in some ways unfathomable phenomenon.
And it doesn’t have to be a comparison to an ancient myth, either. Stephen Colbert illuminating similarities between The Beatles and BTS fulfills this same need for order--to understand something new by comparing it to already-known things in our stories and our histories.
It’s a concept that German philosopher, Hans Blumenberg, also observes in his Work on Myth. As previously mentioned with the Gaze, there’s only so much you can see at once. When there’s an object in the distance, we have to wait for it to come into view. As it approaches, details become more distinct as we are able to focus better on it--but there’s an anxiety to the approach, as we can’t be certain of what emerges on the other end.
This is one of Blumenberg’s most famous concepts--the Absolutism of Reality. The mind focuses on something that hasn’t been given absolute definition yet, waiting for it to emerge as a known object. Because BTS can never be truly known by the public--particularly their fans--they both design narratives for themselves as well as take on narratives developed by fans.
Tumblr media
BTS have been crafting their public image since their debut. In their debut music video for “No More Dream,” they take on the role of students (highlighted by Jin driving a school bus) causing chaos in their otherwise safe, suburban neighborhood. Their earliest albums 2 Cool 4 Skool, O!RUL8,2?, and Skool Luv Affair, were all pushback against the high pressure they faced as students in the Korean education system. “No More Dream” is itself an encouragement to “all the youngsters without dreams” to “become the subject of [their] own [lives], away from suppression.”
Of course, by this time, BTS weren’t a group of normal Korean students anymore. They were a recently debuted K-pop idol group already pursuing their own dreams, and their music is merely a reflection on their past attitudes and outlook on life.
Orpheus does this in Anaïs Mitchell’s Hadestown when he sings to Hades to beg for Eurydice’s return. He takes the story of Hades and Persephone’s romance and he sings, “And I know how it was because / He was like me / A man in love with a woman,” effectively drawing the both of them into a narrative comparison. In adopting Hades’s feelings as his own, and vice versa, Orpheus has taken on a relatable narrative to his target audience in a way that’s not dissimilar to BTS’s adoption of the position of the dissatisfied student.
It’s an effective rhetorical trick. After all, it wins Orpheus Hades and Persephone’s favor and BTS more fans.
Tumblr media
Fans also create their own narratives for BTS, adding to the already seemingly endless amount of BTS content available.
On the website Archive of Our Own, a popular database among all fandoms for fanfiction, the amount of fanfics for BTS has grown to surpass that for Star Wars, a franchise powerhouse.
Tumblr media
(Screenshots from AO3.org taken on March 15, 2020.)
By creating their own narratives and interpretations of BTS’s characters, in spite of BTS being “real” people, fans are developing their own myths for BTS. In the spirit of Claude Lévi-Strauss, they’re attempting to impart “order” on something they strongly desire to--but ultimately can never--understand.
Tumblr media
But what are the stakes with BTS? Why is there a need to understand them through a mythic structure?
Like Eurydice, they’re in very real danger of disappearing.
One of BTS’s fans’ deepest fears is enlistment: South Korea requires their adult male citizens to complete compulsory military service for two years, and BTS’s Jin is expected to be leaving for that soon.
Tumblr media
(BTS fans on Tumblr and Instagram expressing their fears regarding Jin’s enlistment. The Tumblr account was unprompted; the Instagram comments were in reply to a fake article announcing Jin’s supposed enlistment. Screenshots taken March 15, 2020; users’ handles and personal information have been blurred for privacy.)
There’s an ephemeral quality to even their celebrity. When Jin enlists, BTS won’t be an entire unit anymore. Something will be missing from their team--and the looming countdown until the other members also enlist begins to feel more urgent.
BTS will likely regroup after each member completes their military service. But if BTS must follow the mythic structure as the Eurydice taken away by outside forces, there remains the fear that they won’t return.
Even BTS and the K-pop phenomenon aren’t guaranteed to stay. In the aforementioned Monsta X interview regarding the popularity of K-pop, vocalist Kihyun remarks that another member, Minhyuk, had once observed, “Trends are always moving and that’s natural. I think it’s K-pop’s generation.” Today, K-pop might be all the rage--but that doesn’t mean it will be tomorrow.
Because it’s so easy to lose BTS, the need to hold onto them and to understand them becomes inflated.
(Though, even if the real BTS disappears as Orpheus did at the end of his original myth, hundreds of thousands of fictional ones exist on AO3 alone--just as Orpheus is constantly revived for his retellings.)
Tumblr media
Finding similarities between BTS’s narrative and the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice is a continuous, relational spiral--a shape that is itself Orphic, as with the spiral staircase.
As long as the Orphic myth lives on, there will always be more connections to draw, more Orphic works to compare to BTS. All of them serve to inform one another in an ongoing loop that heightens BTS’s reputation with mythic prestige and reinvigorates the Orphic myth back from the dead through BTS’s persisting relevancy.

New Post has been published on https://www.cinephiled.com/interview-the-creators-of-skin-the-history-of-nudity-in-the-movies-bare-all-in-new-documentary/
Interview: The Creators of ‘Skin: The History of Nudity in the Movies’ Bare All in New Documentary
From the moment the first motion picture camera was invented, there has been nudity in the movies. Even in the earliest days of this new art form, filmmakers delighted in exploring the human body and audiences were riveted by scenes of nudity on the screen. This comprehensive and fascinating new documentary begins with the silent era and continues through the present day, looking at changes in morality and sensibilities while examining the political, sociological, and artistic changes that shaped this rich history.
Skin: The History of Nudity in the Movies also delves into the gender bias surrounding nudity in motion pictures. It looks at the surprisingly relaxed attitude towards nudity in pre-code Hollywood, the period of censorship that was designed to “clean up” the industry, and how the powerful MPAA ratings system was formed to help the industry police itself (and avoid outside intervention). The documentary also addresses the impact of the more recent #metoo movement on nude scenes in movies today. I spoke with Danny Wolf, the director of this fascinating doc, and Jim McBride, the co-executive producer who, as “Mr. Skin,” has run a website for the past 21 years that documents nudity in the movies.
Danny Miller: As far as I’m concerned, this is the perfect film for the pandemic — who wouldn’t be interested in this topic? Being a classic movie lover, I really enjoyed the material about the early days of the movies before censorship really took hold. I think this film might cause a wild increase in sales for Cecil B. DeMille’s The Sign of the Cross from 1932 starring Fredric March, Claudette Colbert, and Fredric March. Wow, who knew? I never dreamed there would be that much nudity in a DeMille film from a major studio!
Danny Wolf (with Eric Roberts)
Danny Wolf: That was the best part about making this film — researching those movies from the twenties and thirties. I hadn’t seen most of them so I had a lot of catching up to do, from the earliest ones up through the infamous Caligula and beyond. I learned so much. I especially hadn’t realized the extent of nudity in the movies in those early days. I love all those pre-Code movies. I still haven’t been able to find the complete version of The Sign of the Cross but that’s on my list!
Jim, I know you’ve been following this topic for many years on your website. Did you have a big hand in the organization of the film into distinct eras?
Jim McBride
Jim McBride: Yes, in my role as one of the executive producers, I definitely had some input. My website just had its 21stanniversary, I can’t believe I’ve been working in this field for that long, so I do have a pretty good background on the subject. Of course, what I do on my site and what this film is about are really two completely different things. The hardest thing was to narrow it down to a two-hour documentary. We had to decide on the pivotal moments in the history of nudity in the movies. It took a team approach, with me, our other Executive Producer, Paul Fishbein, and our director, Danny. We’re all film buffs and I hope that will come across to everyone who watches this documentary — we really love movies.
Mariel Hemingway
I think the film is very well organized and the mix of interview subjects is just fantastic. I loved seeing the range of people you talked to, from some who were mostly known for appearing nude in the movies to directors like Peter Bogdanovich, Amy Heckerling, Kevin Smith, and Martha Coolidge and stars like Malcolm McDowell, Pam Grier, Eric Roberts, and Sean Young, among others. To be honest, I was surprised to see some of them, like Mariel Hemingway, who’s such a delight in the film. I didn’t think she’d be that open to talking about this topic.
Danny Wolf: We were so happy to have her because she was in two important films that are discussed: Personal Best and Star 80, and of course, she had quite a different look in both films. She even talked about the whole issue that was so big at the time about whether she got breast augmentations just to play Dorothy Stratten in Star 80. Mariel and Eric Roberts both talk about that.
Another surprise was hearing from Ken Davitian about his experience in Borat.
We were very happy to have him discussing his crazy scene from that film. Nudity in movies was never limited to just women or to people with a certain body type.
Malcom McDowell must have been a blast to talk to. I could listen to his stories about moviemaking all day long.
That was the most fun interview you can ever do. He’s such a great storyteller and you just hang onto every word he says. I interviewed him about Clockwork Orange for another documentary I did but hearing his firsthand stories about Caligula was just great. There could be a whole documentary just on that one film, that’s how much lore there is about it!
Malcolm McDowell and Helen Mirren in Caligula
Honestly, there should be. I remember seeing that movie as a teenager and it was such a huge deal. Truly awful but you felt that underneath all of that gratuitous sex and nudity lurked a really good movie, especially with that cast. McDowell’s stories about John Gielgud on that set were hilarious but it also had Peter O’Toole and Helen Mirren — just crazy! It was interesting to learn in your film how Bob Guccione was responsible for turning that film into the sex-fest that it became.
Jim McBride: Yes, and there’s talk that Tinto Brass is helping with a re-edit that will show more of what the film was originally intended to be! I’m sure they’ll be getting rid of many of the lurid scenes that Guccione shot at two and three in the morning!
Mamie Van Doren
It was moving to see the late Sylvia Miles in her last on-camera interview, and I loved hearing from Mamie Van Doren. I always thought she was so comfortable with her sex kitten image, I was surprised to hear her talk about how reluctant she was to do nude scenes in movies.
Danny Wolf: Yeah, there were obviously certain people we had to cover in the film, and that included the trio of Marilyn Monroe, Jayne Mansfield, and Mamie Van Doren who, in some respects, went on to carry both Marilyn and Jayne’s torches. Marilyn had done a nude scene in Something’s Gotta Give in 1963, the movie that was never completed before her death, and Jayne had appeared nude in Promises! Promises! that same year which was a huge deal. The first mainstream star to appear in the nude in an American film! And then Mamie comes out in Three Nuts in a Search of a Bolt. Those movies just changed everything in terms of having stars willing to appear nude.
Jim McBride: We talk about the infamous Hays Code that was in full force by the mid-1930s. Before that, there were all these crazy movies with all sorts of nudity but that came crashing to and end when the Hays Code went into effect. That lasted for decades. But these movies with Monroe, Mansfield, and Van Doren finally killed that level of censorship in the 1960s once and for all. And kicked off the modern era of celebrity nudity.
Linda Blair
It’s also interesting to watch this film through the lens of the #metoo movement and our changing sensibilities. It’s hard not to cringe when hearing from some of the actresses who worked in the 70s and 80s who felt so pressured to do nude scenes even if they weren’t comfortable doing them and hadn’t agreed to. It was poignant hearing from Linda Blair in the documentary and how she was kind of ambushed into doing nudity in her career.
Danny Wolf: Yes, she definitely felt pressured to do things that she didn’t sign up for. And she was basically told she’d destroy the film if she didn’t do what they asked. There was a lot of stuff like that in the 70s and 80s. We talked to actresses who signed on for scripts in which there was no nudity and then suddenly word would come down on the set that they had to add a certain number of nude scenes. They almost always felt that they had to do it whether they liked it or not. If they refused, they were told that they were holding up production and hurting the distribution of the film. And many felt that if they didn’t agree, that would be the end of their career.
Awful. Thank God things have changed to a large extent, and probably a big part of that is having more women directors and women in other positions of power.
Absolutely.
And, speaking of “celebrity nudity,” now it seems so normal to see nudity on the biggest, most popular TV shows.
Jim McBride: Yes. Back when I launched my website in 1999, I think there were something like 25 TV shows that had any nudity at all. You know, a few scenes in Sex and the City and other shows of that type. When we looked at that last year, we found 144 television shows across many different platforms including Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon. I truly believe we’re in the golden age of nudity! It’s no longer a big deal when you’re watching a show or a movie on these networks. And that includes male nudity, too, which was certainly not the case in the 60s and 70s. I think we’re finally getting rid of that double standard.
Right. I remember the days when you could show women completely naked and still get an R rating but if anyone flashed a penis, God forbid, it was an automatic X rating.
That’s right. And that again goes back to the fact that in those days, most directors, producers, writers were men. And that has changed as well, thank goodness. Look at a show like Game of Thrones. Lots of female nudity, yes, but a huge amount of male nudity, too.
Well, there’s so much in this film that is food for thought about our changing world. And more people you talk to that we haven’t even discussed like Pam Grier — I would have been happy with two hours of just her talking about her memories of making movies!
Danny Wolf: Me, too, she is fantastic!

Aubrey Plaza - June 19, 2017
Recent Conan appearances:
March 15, 2017 -
Her role as Lenny Busker on Legion (link)
The role of Lenny was originally meant to be played by a middle-aged man.
At the time she met with Legion writer, Noah Hawley, she had just recently torn her ACL and was on crutches, which potentially contributed to Hawley’s perception that she could play an angry male character.
When Legion first premiered, she had just finished a day of filming and went to a bar to watch the episode, but no one around her recognized she was in the show.
Red Hair (link)
For her film Ingrid Goes West, she had to die her hair red, which then prompted her to learn various facts about redheads, including the fact that redheads turn into vampires after they die.
Playing a Page (link)
Plaza played an NBC page on the show “30 Rock.”
Her role on the show was to introduce a tour group to the set of Late Night with Conan O’Brien.
Plaza was a page in real life for SNL and NBC, so for her 30 Rock appearance she wore the same uniform.
June 27, 2016
Her Birthday (June 26) (link)
Plaza hates her birthday because it makes her feel depressed about what she has not and will never get to do.
During her 2016 birthday, she watched one episode of Game of Thrones without watching any more from the series.
When she was on Anna Faris is Unqualified, there was a Parks and Rec reunion and she got birthday cupcakes.
Singing and Dancing (link)
She was forced to do a closing musical number for Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates.
She hates singing and dancing.
During her dance training, she remembered that when she was young, she competed in Irish River Dancing.
She attributes her awkwardness to the fact that she was trained in a dance that requires a straight face and minimal arm movement.
Mike and Dave Pranks (link)
When Mike and Dave was being shot, there were still real guests staying at the hotel at which the film was shot.
Plaza’s co-star, Sugar Lyn Beard, thought it would be entertaining to scare guests with gruesome makeup, which led to the production team being warned that cast members cannot harass hotel guests.
April 3, 2015
Audrey’s Mom + Airbnb (link)
Plaza’s mom booked an Airbnb, but the owner of the apartment failed to mention that he would be sleeping on the couch.
Her mom still wanted to stay there because the owner offered to take her bungee jumping.
Religious Upbringing (link)
Plaza grew up very Catholic.
She has a memory of seeing a seven-foot tall Easter Bunny placing Easter presents in her home.
Hormonal and Spiritual Unrest (link)
Plaza had recently been finding lots of bug bites all over her body.
Attributes bug bites to a “spiritual problem” and to the fact that she’s been “really hormonal lately”
Another way she’s noticed her hormones acting up is that she found herself repeatedly singing the words “kill” and “die.”
August 14, 2014
Summer (link)
Aubrey was the maid of honor for a wedding and was tasked with buying all the party supplies.
She purchased exclusively penis paraphernalia, including a cake that was so graphic, the show couldn’t air it.
Her mom opened up the box of penis paraphernalia and “loved it.”
For the party, two random strangers from the street were hired to be strippers.
Abdominal Injury (link)
While she was shooting, Plaza had to carry an oven on her back, which caused her to rip her abdominal wall.
She got her injury treated in London while she was shooting Parks and Rec by an “old-timey” English doctor.
Photobomb (link)
Photo recently emerged of Aubrey photobombing Katy Perry and Hillary Clinton.
Plaza joked that after the photobomb, Hillary confided in her that she was running for president.
February 12, 2014
Hugging (link)
Conan addressed a paparazzi photo of Aubrey and Amy Poehler hugging with Aubrey’s legs wrapped around Amy’s.
Plaza explaiined that she has a tendency to wrap her legs around people when she hugs them, which led to her grandpa calling her “Monkey” and giving her a monkey toy every year for Christmas.
Chris Bosh (link)
Plaza frequently tweets about her obsession with Miami Heat player Chris Bosh.
When he had a cameo on Parks and Rec, she hid in his trailer in hopes of meeting him.
She thought it would be funny to disguise herself as his hair dresser, but he didn’t recognize her, so she actually styled his hair.
Posted a photo of her and Bosh on her Twitter hoping he would reply.
Apocalypse Preparation (link)
Plaza recently shot a zombie movie, which prompted Conan to ask if she had plans in the event of a zombie apocalypse.
Plaza admitted she is always prepared for an apocalypse because she sleeps with a dagger on her bedside table.
Plaza conducts a weekly shanking drill in the event her home is invaded by a zombie or a murderer.
She likes to surround herself with people who have skills that would be useful in an apocalypse, so she gifted her boyfriend helicopter lessons for his birthday.
Conan offered to take flying lessons for her.
Other talk show appearances (sorted in chronological order)
Late Night with Seth Meyers (March 1, 2017)
Legion (link)
She had to wear a harness when her character died.
Inspired by her superhero show, Plaza said her superpower would be that when she ate something extremely spicy, her head would explode.
Legion is part of X-men universe.
One of her inspirations for her character, Lenny, was David Bowie.
The middle name of her character is Cornflakes, so she jokes that Lenny Cornflakes Busker sounds like the name of a stripper.
The creator of Legion also created the FX show Fargo.
The Little Hours and Ingrid Goes West (link)
Produced and starred in the films, which will both be featured at Sundance.
Researched for her role as a nun in The Little Hours by reading a Bible that she stole from her hotel room.
One of the producers of Ingrid Goes West sought out a condemned house for them to shoot in.
Late Show with Stephen Colbert (February 24, 2017) (link)
Plaza has two rescue dogs named Stevie and Frankie, and she joked that she likes Frankie more.
Plaza attended Catholic school from Kindergarten through twelfth grade.
Her role as a nun in The Little Hours was especially fun for her because she “loves uniforms” ever since she wore one at Catholic school.
Plaza was a member of 4-H, which is a program for kids that encourages knowledge of agricultural skills.
Despite growing up in Wilmington, Delaware, which is a city, Aubrey has had farm experiences, such as sheering a sheep.
Plaza was about to receive Alumni Medallion award for her participation in 4-H.
Late Night with Seth Meyers (January 22, 2016) (link)
In the movie Dirty Grandpa, Plaza was initially asked to play the love interest of Zac Efron, but she was hellbent on securing the part of DeNiro’s love interest.
For her Dirty Grandpa audition, Plaza threw out the script, said a bunch of dirty things into the camera, and then flashed her butt.
Although Dirty Grandpa is the story of a romance between a 70 year old man and a 20 year old woman, Plaza sees the movie as a love story where DeNiro has “met his match.”
Before the movie started, DeNiro gave the entire cast a bottle of wine and a encouraging note. In order to repay him for this gift, Plaza gave him a book of Zen Buddhism with a raunchy picture of her inside.
When Plaza and DeNiro shot their love scene, her bra had been rigged to pop off for a scene that was scrapped last minute, so as soon as DeNiro made a move towards her breasts, her bra flung off.
Jimmy Kimmel Live! (January 20, 2016)
ACL and Wine Tasting (link)
Plaza tore her ACL playing basketball and initially had to be in a wheelchair.
For her gay best friend’s bachelor party, she went to a wine tasting in a wheelchair, and her friend was wearing a Santa suit, so the other wine tasting guests were afraid of their party.
Robert DeNiro’s Nipples (note from author: That is the first time I’ve ever gotten to use that as the title for a bullet point. It’s a big day.) (link)
The day she filmed her sex scene with Robert DeNiro lasted nine hours.
The director of Dirty Grandpa instructed her to suck on DeNiro’s nipples, but as soon as she tried it, DeNiro’s agent informed the director did not like his “nipple region” toyed with.
One of her proudest moments of shooting was when DeNiro complimented her acting after she was instructed to throw up and try to kiss him.
The Late Late Show with James Corden (March 31, 2015) (link)
Plaza studied abroad during college in Ghana at a documentary film program.
Her roommate in Ghana was a legitimate pirate named Jenny who was “straight off a boat from the Caribbean” and was always looking for treasure.
Miscellaneous interviews and clips
Gold Derby (June 14, 2017) (link)
Plaza was skeptical of the show Legion at first because she did not know where her character would end up.
Plaza was unfamiliar with the comic book Legion was based on before she started filming the show.
Plaza wanted to play the “villain that you love or that you like to hate.”
Plaza admits that sometimes playing Lenny Busker felt like playing completely different characters on totally different shows.
The Wrap (May 16, 2017) (link)
Before she was famous, Plaza performed improv at Upright Citizens Brigade Theater (UCB) in New York.
Some of the people she met at UCB included Aziz Ansari, Nick Kroll, Bobby Moinyhan, Donald Glover, Ben Schwartz, Kate McKinnon, Jenny Sate, Matt Walsh, Abby Jacobson, Zach Woods, Ellie Kemper, and T.J. Miller.
Off Camera with Sam Jones (August 12, 2016) (link)
Aubrey thinks she is the “worst talk show guest ever.”
She gets very uncomfortable going from a pre-interview to pretending that she’s having the conversation for the very first time.
She “can’t tell” when she’s making people uncomfortable.
Another unsettling part of talk shows for her is the fact that she has to be herself and she cannot perform as a character or a persona.
Her work in Dirty Grandpa was especially challenging because she had to make sure their unconventional relationship didn’t come across as “disgusting.”
Robert DeNiro was initially scared of her because of her character’s makeup, but as soon as he saw her not in character, he warmed up to her.
Teen Hag Trailer (February 10, 2008) (link)
Spoof of Teen Wolf trailer, where Plaza plays a high school girl, who transforms into a hag.
Despite her gruesome appearance, the hag earns praise and popularity from her high school peers.
John Milhiser also stars in the trailer.
