Spotted another item from the #winterwatchlist yesterday - Hazel catkins. These are the male flowers of the hazel tree which release pollen - sometimes you see the female flowers alongside them which I believe are more pink and flower like but I’ve yet to see any. I remember when I was a child living in the countryside I always stopped to look at catkins when out on a walk - such a weird shape and an adorable name!
