Thanks to @anincompletelist for the tag! I didn't have anything prepared to share this week and was panicking about it, and Beas offered to give me a number for me to write a few sentences from whichever WIP that number corresponded to on my list, and of COURSE she accidentally picked the fully epistolary one aka rockstar Alex exes to lovers. TWITTER THREAD: Likely candidates for the topic of ACD’s #TheLakeHouseAlbum, a (mostly ordered) thread: 1/? Nora Holleran: I know they’re on record as being just friends but they’re SO FUCKING FLIRTY… I don’t know, something about the way they interact with each other makes my spidey senses tingle. Though them both being back on the market WOULD be a win for bisexuals everywhere. Evidence in favour: lyrics about losing your best friend and partner in one fell swoop, Deuxmoi stories a couple of years ago about the two of them going to a hotel together + reports of loud sex noises. Evidence against: See last tweet re: repeatedly on record as just friends. 47/? Henry Fox: It’s weirdly hard to find pics of them together, even at events we KNOW they were both at; kinda suspicious. Both gorgeous, queer, creatively talented men (if you’re not familiar with Henry Fox’s books, start with Looking For Orion; I cried for three days). Evidence in favour: all the refs to distance could be literal not metaphorical (Henry’s UK-based), a ton of literary allusions that overlap with ones Henry’s used in his books.<br> Evidence against: There were rumours of a feud a few years ago (vigorously denied by both teams). 69/69 ACD’s guitar: Okay you KNOW I couldn’t leave the thread on 68 but I think there might be some merit to this. The pics ACD puts on insta of his guitar are framed and shot with more love than the pics my girlfriend takes of me. (For legal reasons this is a joke.) Wasn’t expecting this thread to blow up, so a disclaimer: this is all in good fun and I don’t know any of these people. But this album is stunning and raw and heartbreaking and not to get all parasocial about it but I really do hope ACD is okay ❤️

Two twins: Soliel and Selia. Selia is the owner of a restaurant that shut down during covid. Soliel was a former rockstar that fell off. One night, half-drunk, Soliel swipes his ex-band’s tour bus and makes his way home. There, he has a reunion with his twin, with Selia getting the idea to run a renewed food truck with the tour bus.

Upon gaining too much attention (idiots) they rush to the cops, but crash land in a secret monster town. Trapped and unable to find their way home, they survive off an improvised food truck business…under supervision of a weird “land lord.”

Six(ish) Sentence Sunday

Thanks for the tag @hgejfmw-hgejhsf and @onthewaytosomewhere - it's always nice when I'm not kicking the week off lmao. I didn't get a lot of writing done this week because I was busy editing the Going Platinum podfic I posted today, but I've powered through so I have something to share!

Rockstar Alex is now officially fully epistolary, because I figured out how to get #3 from the five fun facts game into a fully epistolary format. If you are thinking to yourself, "Great! If it's fully epistolary then it can't hurt as much!" I would advise you to turn to your nearest Schitt's Creek fandom buddy who has read my fics in that fandom and ask them how they feel about chapter 5 of Meet me out at the end of my rope (aka angstapalooza), and calibrate accordingly 😈

TIFU by breaking my no-hookup rule Obligatory ‘this didn’t happen today’ but my friends are still making fun of me days later, so. I’m not a hookup/cruising kind of gay. Full respect to you if you are, it’s just never been my thing - I’m more of a serial monogamist type But it was my friend’s birthday last weekend and we all went out to a gay bar, and I ended up dancing with this guy who… honestly if I describe how off the charts hot he was you wouldn’t believe me anyway, so you’ll just have to trust me on this. He was there with a friend and the friend bought us a few rounds of vodka shots before fucking off somewhere, so me and this guy went back to dancing. And then the dancing was grinding, and then we were making out for a bit before he said he was gonna go to the bathroom with THAT head tilt. You know the one. Even my no-hookups ass knows the one. And yeah, I don’t do hookups, but fuck it. I said yes (I really cannot express how hot this guy was lol) and followed him to the bathroom. I won’t get into all the details but suffice to say getting blown by this dude was a religious experience. I’m just getting to the point of no return when he pulls back all of a sudden. And he’s got tears in his eyes, but I just thought it was from like… well, you know… but then he STOOD UP. I was like “what the fuck dude” and he just started APOLOGIZING, saying something about the song????? I hadn’t been paying attention tbh, I was a bit busy having my brains sucked out through my dick, but this guy just muttered something about the song and his ex and then he LEFT ME in the fucking club bathroom, dick bobbing in the wind. I think I’m back to no hookups from now on tbh. TL;DR: first ever hookup ended with a stranger literally sobbing his way off my dick, and ACD’s new song is a banger, but I’ll probably never be able to hear it without thinking of the worst case of blue balls I’ve ever had.

WIP Wednesday

Thank you so much @celaestis1 for the tag—we're kicking off early this week! (I say, at 10:30pm on a Wednesday my time.)

Something a little (a lot) different this week, but... well, it's work for a fic that's in progress! I decided I'd make my own life a lot easier by using royalty-free backing tracks for at least some of this stuff, but composing/lyric writing to pre-existing music is VERY different to starting from scratch, so this is an ADVENTURE. Hence why I'm starting rhythm-first, then lyrics, then melody. Even though it's not a snippet in the usual sense, I hope you enjoy anyway?

Probably character voice? Dialogue and narration. I slip on US/UK terms sometimes but in terms of the characters sounding/feeling like themselves, that's probably it.

Any variation on "I will follow you into any trope/pairing/kink/premise even if it's not something I'd normally seek out because I trust you as a writer". INCREDIBLY flattering.
