%jsyk pro-shipping has always been about people wanting to ship incest and pedophila. the post you reblogged about pro-shipping is minimizing how awful pro-shippers actually are
I cant answer anon questions privately even with the %. Come off and chat with me privately if you want. (Messages is preferred so I can't accidentally hit publish.)
But I'm pretty sure ~gross ships~ are covered in the post. 1: YKINMKATO has been the law of the land since before either of us were here, 2: ship doesn't always mean "this turns me on", it usually means "i find the dynamic between these characters personally compelling", and that can be sexual or nonsexual or both. Just looking at a ship name doesn't grant full knowledge of the content created for it and how the subject matter is handled.
Bonus: I'm not obligated to share this, but as a survivor of actual real life pedophilic* incest, navigating that trauma through fic and media that explored the breaking of those boundaries when I was a teen helped me heal as a person. The vast majority of that content is, in fact, pretty clear about how fucked up it is!
(*in terms of i was 10-ish and then 12-ish when I was abused, and they were adults, but they werent actually pedophiles! They liked mature bodies, which mine appeared to be as an early bloomer, but mostly they abused me just because they could.)
In contrast to proshippers generally minding their own business (and, crucially, being supportive of trauma survivors), I've seen antis harass people off sites by sending them gore and self-harm images. I've seen them delve into "all queers are pedos" diatribes. I've seen them try to get people's kids taken away because they had a "bad" ship. Real witch hunt behavior, functionally putting people on trial for interests that, yeah, I look askance at sometimes, but they aren't hurting anyone just by having them.
Yeah. I'm gonna just say that you and I don't know anyone else's story, and they don't owe it to us so they can enjoy, in peace, things that actually do not in any way result in harm to real actual people.
That said, IF you have evidence of quantifiable harm to real actual people caused by other people having icky ships, please show me. I am always welcome to having my understanding of a viewpoint deepened.
If you elect not to and this is the last thing I can say to you, though, then: I hope you have a nice day.
