@mutantmuses // with Jean
It was rare to see Jean overexert herself -- she always seemed like she had reserves upon reserves to draw from, a psionic powerhouse the same way he was a physical one. Went down swinging, metaphorically speaking, and came back for more, every time. To see her falter was a shock. It seemed like she'd really pushed herself this time, and maybe he could understand why. Summers meant well, but his concern could border on overbearing, pushing everybody (and, naturally, Jean herself) to extremes to prove they could do it just fine.
The tang of blood in the air, her blood, dragged him out of the haze of battle, feet skidding on the ground. It was just a Danger Room sim, and he swore on Scott's name as he lurched to catch Jean before her head hit the hard floor.
"Easy, darlin'. I gotcha." He eased her down, propping her back against his shoulder, glaring daggers over at their fearless leader as Cyclops suddenly seemed to realize something was wrong.

Oh, he loved the way his name sounded when she moaned it like that... he'd never get tired of it, that was for sure. When Jean bared her throat Logan went for it, mouthing over the clean lines of her elegant neck. A small snicker was muffled against her skin -- it was true, they hadn't been precisely careful in their moments together, this was an inevitability more than a happy accident. He didn't really care when it happened, he was just thrilled to death that it was.
Shifting a little, loosening the grip her legs had on his waist, Logan gave his hips a deeper swing and finally, giving her what she wanted, Logan slipped between her folds to sink deep to the hilt. He didn't stay still, though -- finding a gentle rhythm, leaning up on his elbow to cradle her head, to kiss and nip along her clavicle, worshiping every inch of skin he could reach.
Jean knew Logan was teasing her, she didn't need to read his mind to know that was what he was doing to her. But she wondered how long he was going to do this to her. Throwing her head back a bit, Jean let out a soft moan as she dug her heels into his back once more. "Logan.." She moaned his name softly.
Apart of her forgot that they had sex in the danger room. That was a wild and fiery one. It was one Jean knew they had to do again at some point.
" I---I don't really know... " Jean whispered as she then dug her nails into Logan's shoulders. "Logan please...I need you inside of me." She begged softly.

Rachel had made up her mind exceedingly early-on in her stay in this place, that she was not going to be disclosing her parentage to either Jean or Scott -if he happen to arrive as well. Scott wouldn’t necessarily be an issue but Jean...she got her own headstrong personality from someone. It had been far too many times in the past that she had had to deal with the sting of rejection from the redhead and there was no guarantee the same wouldn’t happen here.
Besides, she was far too young and already burdened with the actions of the phoenix in her own world. There was no need to add to any of that. So instead, she kept their interactions casual when they happened to coincide at the Institute, like today. “Hey, glad to see you’re doing alright after everything that happened at the ball.”

@mutantmuses // from here // nsfw meme
Oh, he was in too deep. He should never have let it get to this point, never should have dared to step over this line... but did it matter? She was divorced. She was free... and if she exercised that freedom, and chose him, who was to say anything?
Scott could be as angry as he liked, it wouldn't change anything.
He'd admitted more than he'd meant to, but that was just how talking to Jean tended to be. She always seemed to draw out of him what he really meant. All she had to do was give him a look with those pretty green eyes and he'd spill his darkest secrets. She didn't even need to reach in and look for herself.
A breath caught in his throat as she told him to take her, a whole-body shudder running through him. Hands which had taken respectful spots in his own pockets now moved to grip her hips, pull her closer while pressing her back against the nearby wall. Her head was already tilted to the side, so he simply nosed into the smooth curve of her throat, careful only that the kiss and bite on the spot didn't leave a too-visible mark...
"Your room or mine?"

@mutantmuses // a light from the shadows shall spring - logan/jean
A man shouldn't be pleased at the ruination of another man's marriage. It was a refrain Logan had been hammering into his own brain for months now, drowning his thoughts in everything from cheap swill to top-shelf, rare-vintage whiskey normally only saved for special occasions. But shit, how much more special did it get, to tell a man you'd been giving hell for years 'I told you so'?
He'd warned Scott. Told him if he didn't show that woman she was valued and respected, eventually she'd get sick of his shit. Kid never did want to listen.
Still, Logan didn't rest on his laurels, didn't rub Scott's nose in it (any more than he deserved, anyway). He went about life as normal, same as everybody else in the Institute, politely didn't comment when Scott moved back into his old room in the teachers' wing. Didn't gloat. Which, it seemed, some people did expect of him, but who was he if he didn't surprise people now and then? He took Scott out for a drink, tried to cheer him up, but it was like talking to a brick wall. To Scott, everything about the 'deal' the Professor had made stank of capitulation. Of bending the knee.
As for Logan… well, better to bend the knee than have a boot at his neck.
It was his turn to spearhead dinner for the kids. He'd decided a little treat was in order: onigiri in several varieties (salmon flake, chicken-veggie and furikake nori as a vegan option), miso and veggie soups, and anko, red bean paste wrapped in dough. Some of the kids wound up picking the cold sandwiches that were off to the side, but most got excited when they saw Mr. Logan behind the line, especially since he didn't mind taking the odd request. Now, though, the bell had sent them scurrying back to their classes, and he, rag over his shoulder, set to cleaning up the mayhem left behind.
Though, he stopped, and put on a friendly half-smile when a familiar redhead appeared in the doorway. "Saved ya a couple," he offered, nodding to the covered tray with what remained of the onigiri. "Had ta fight off a kid with tentacles. How ya doin', Jeannie?"

❛ touch me, and you're dead. ❜ { From Jean but the Phoenix }
"Jeannie, don't do this," he murmured, reaching out for her. There was little that could reach the woman when the entity -- the fire -- overtook her. Yet he had to try, had to try to reach her, to pull her back from the brink because if he didn't, it could spell disaster for them all.
His hand came close, teeth gritted as he reached through the fire, felt the heat scorch his skin and sink deep into the metal in his bones, as he tried to settle it on her cheek. "Please -- come back to us... come back to me..."

💋 to kiss my muse on the lips. { From Jean }
Time was, Logan would have shied away from such a public display of affection, especially coming from her. They'd been engaged in this dance for so long it was second nature -- one reached out, the other moved away, always pulled in differing directions by the obligations of their lives. He sometimes had to consciously remind himself that that period of their lives was now effectively over. Jean had made her choice, had drifted away from one path and joined his. Still made him feel a little foolish, the way his chest tightened when she favored him with an affectionate look or, like now, leaned out of her doorway and tugged him close by the shirt-collar to steal a quick kiss in the quiet of morning before the mansion's usual chaos erupted.
Grinning, he brushed his knuckles over her cheek lightly. "We still on for dinner later, beautiful?"

" lean on me. " { From Jean }
The way the fight had gone, it was a wonder Logan was still standing at all; he'd been chewed up, spat out, stuck on the bottom of someone's shoe, tracked for fifty miles and then scraped off on a curb into a gutter. He looked like absolute hell, half his uniform and a good portion of his skin sheared away, blood freely flowing from a thousand and one wounds. Part of his scalp was slowly starting to creep back over a bare spot of gleaming, adamantium-coated skull over his right eye, and the right side of his face was bathed in red. A lesser man would be dead, already getting measured up for a coffin, but not Wolverine.
More's the pity. He felt like shit.
Despite himself, he flashed a wan half-smile at the redhead as she tucked herself under his arm to try her best to help support his weight on his wavering legs. "Jus' get me to a patch 'a grass so I can faceplant on somethin' soft," he joked.

Thankfully she didn't push him any more than that, though it might have surprised him to know their thoughts were somewhat aligned. If things had shaken out differently -- if he had, somehow, arrived at this institute before, instead of, maybe even alongside Xavier's first crop of students, could things have come out differently? Would she have chosen him?
It didn't do any good wondering. Scott and Jean, that was the deal. He was simply in the way, and so he kept himself out of the equation. Didn't mean he couldn't care about her. Just that he had to be careful what that care entailed.
"Nothin' a stiff drink with the Elf later won't cure," he retorted, his smile coming a little easier. "I'd say tag along, but I'm sure the boyscout would blow a blood vessel if he knew I asked you out to a dingy old place like Harry's. Let 'him take you someplace nice to celebrate instead."
Jean knew Logan well enough to know that his flashes of smiles were just that. She knew the darkness and pain he held within himself, for she had seen it many times before. But of course, she wasn't going to push him. That wasn't the kind of person she was. If Logan wanted to share something with her he would.
" Well, I think I can be the judge of what concerns me. " Jean said while giving him a light push. "You all healed up now?" She asked softly, making sure he was ok now.
Whenever she looked at Logan, she saw someone she cared deeply about, someone she wanted nothing but the best for. There were even times where she found herself wishing that she met him first before she met Soctt.

If finding Charles had been easy, finding Jean had been like following the world’s brightest beacon. As she watched the woman from afar, Rachel wished she could give the woman the reprieve of not having to process the convoluted nature of their relationship, but being as Rachel was essentially created as the perfect vessel for the Phoenix Force that currently resided in the other...well, it would only be a matter of time before it pulled like a magnet. Especially if they were residing in the same city.
Still, if this Jean didn’t recognize her, Rachel wouldn’t push the matter. Her musings were cut short as she felt a surge of frustration, and knew what was to come. Making her way over to Jean quickly, she was able to catch the object that’d been sent flying and helped play it off in case anyone was watching. “Nice throw. You should consider a career in softball.”

Closed Winter Market starter for: Jean Grey
Rachel’s plan with regards to keeping her ‘origins’ to as few people as possible would arguable be a lot easier if she had just kept to her original routine of leaving home for work, and leaving work for home. Coming to this winter thing just left her open to bumping into people, as was the current case as she caught sight of a familiar face. It was obvious she’d been spotted, so she just offered a warm smile and waved. “Hey, enjoying the stalls?”

His vision blurred, and at first he wasn't sure if it was from the heat coming off her -- off the Phoenix. Not Jean, though God, she was still there, she was still beautiful… but that thing, that horrible burning thing that hijacked her body was taunting him. And as her hand brushed over his cheek, it sent up a hiss of steam, and he realized that the blurring of his vision was tears flowing freely from his eyes without his realizing it. The touch didn't hurt, though… she was holding back, perhaps protecting him. Taking pity on the poor soul whose heart screamed for her vessel.
"I can't," he answered, hating how broken his voice sounded. "She's… Why does she have to die for you to live -- why her?"
A small smirk formed on the Phoenix's lips as she looked over at Logan. Her eyes burned with fire as she slowly moved closer to him, closing the gap between them. "Poor Logan, always trying to chance after the human Jean Grey." Soon fire rose around her. "Such a shame, you love her." Slowly she placed her hand on Logan's cheek and rubbed it softly. "I am no longer Jean Grey...She is slowly dying in this body."

" Let her go Logan, let her die. " Her eyes burned with fire once more as she removed her hand from Logan's cheek. Then she backed up a little.

The grin he flashed back at her was both amused an a little roguish. "Yeah. Our room." Part of him, too, wanted to do something positively depraved in this entirely-too-expensive car, but he really didn't feel like catching hell from Warren after such a good night. No, he'd rather get home as quick as he's able... and while he was absolutely aware of and responding to Jean's enticement, he had also been telling the truth when he'd said all he wanted was to hold her. To reinforce, again, that this was real. That it wouldn't be stolen from him without a damn hard fight.
"I'm lucky for a lot of reasons, beautiful," he retorted, an arm helping guide her back over to her seat. His hand gave her thigh a gentle squeeze before getting the car back in gear, backing out of the turnoff, and gunning it back toward the mansion.
"Think you can get us up to your window without the greater population wondering why we're back so soon?" he asked, flashing her another grin.
" You mean our room. " Jean pointed out then smirked a little. As much as she hated the fact that they had to wait she knew it was the right thing. Even though there was a part of her that was itchy to get out, in fact crawling its way out to do something naughty in something that didn't belong to either of them.
Nodding her head slowly she pressed her lips onto his once more then smirked again. "You are lucky I love you so much." She then slowly moved off of his lap and moved back to her seat.

As much has he was trying hard to ignore it, he heard her heart skip a little. There it was again -- something she wasn't telling him, and it was killing her not to. He only hoped it wasn't something catastrophic...
But no. Logan had to respect that whatever it was, she was waiting to tell him. He just hoped he didn't drive himself crazy trying to figure it out -- or get too nosy and ruin whatever she had going on.
Resting his shoulder against the door frame he let her lean against him, his free hand coming up to cup her jaw as he returned the kiss, smiling against her lips. Once it broke, he rested his brow against Jean's for a moment, just indulging himself in the color of her eyes. "Can't wait. Now I better get movin', got a class 'a kids to terrorize. You be good, yeah?"
Six...Six. Jean had to wait until six, could she do that? Honestly, it didn't matter if she could or couldn't. She knew that what she had to tell Logan had to be in a setting like dinner or something nice like that. But she feared that if she said she needed to tell him something and that it could wait until dinner than he would panic, and she didn't want him to do that...Not yet at least.

" That sounds good to me. " Jean said softly as he wrapped his hand around her hip. A small blush formed on her cheeks as she knew it was a sign of possessiveness and honestly, she liked that. For it showed that she was his and only his.
Slowly she leaned in and pressed her lips softly onto Logan's kissing him deeply.

It didn't take heightened senses to key into the fact that something was off about Jean -- sure, she'd been playful, tugging him in for a kiss like that, but there was clearly something on her mind, from the faraway look in her eyes to the subdued thrum of her heart. He'd learned a long time ago not to listen too closely, not to pry despite being able to pick up everything that went on in this old mansion -- but lord, did he want to, when it came to Jean. Wanted to peer into her head and figure out what was bothering her, so he could make it right.
He'd let her do it in her own time. "Figured we could slip out once the last bell rings -- say, six? One of the locals clued me in to a new place down near that fancy golf course on the Connecticut border. I'll even wear cologne." He let a hand rest lightly on her hip; not too obtrusive, but definitely possessive.
Jean to be somewhere else as Logan spoke to her. For her mind was locked on something else. Her eyes closed for a moment as she thought about telling Logan right then and there about what was on her mind, but she knew it needed to wait, it needed to be a better time than what was given to them right now.

Realizing she hadn't said anything Jean snapped out of it and looked up at Logan with a small smile on her lips. "Dinner? Yes, I do believe I can make that work." She said testing him. "What time were we thinking?" Jean asked softly.
