Here Comes the Sun (part 23)
Tumblr media
Danny Wagner X Fem OC X Josh Kiszka
18+ only, minors DNI
Warnings: talk of death and dying, angst. I think that’s it for this one
Danny's POV
Once I pulled myself together I got up and headed to the kitchen. Josh had said she’d been sleeping for hours so I assumed she'd wake up soon and I wanted to have food ready when she did. I looked in the fridge and in the pantry for something I could make. I found some frozen wontons in the freezer, and decided on wonton soup. I found broth and heated it in a pot and added the wontons. I heard her bedroom door open and the soft sound of her feet padding across the floor as she made her way into the living room. Her eyes were swollen from crying and she looked utterly exhausted.
"What smells so good?" she asked, walking up behind me and wrapping her arms around my middle. Laying her cheek against my back.
"I made you wonton soup" I said as I reached, grabbing a bowl from the cabinet. I spooned some into it and set it on the counter to cool a little. "How are you?" I turned and wrapped my arms around her. She shrugged before answering,
"Like I just got told I'm dying" She said flatly, leaning and placing her head on my chest. I wondered if she felt my breathing stall at her words. "Other than that fine I guess."
"Here, lets go sit on the couch" I gave her the bowl I made for her and got some for myself. We both went over to the couch and I turned on her favorite tv show. She rested her back against the armrest and her legs draped over my lap. We watch the tv in silence for a long time. "Where’s Lucas?"
"Oh, he got accepted into the study abroad program. So he's not here for the rest of the semester," Her face fell, "He left before he knew I was sick."
"So he knows now?" I asked
"He does, he wanted to come home but I told him not to, he's been looking forward to this for too long" she paused, "I still haven't told Thorne, I'm trying to work up the nerve" She looked at the bowl and pushed around the last remaining wonton. "I'm guessing Josh told you about the appointment?" She asked, her eyes looking to mine,
"He filled me in, I'm so sorry Rose." I said rubbing her leg,
"No need for you to apologize, it's not your fault." She said looking away and back to her bowl
"I know that, I guess I mean I'm sorry you're going through it." I amended my previous statement
"I'm sorry you are stuck with someone who is dying" She said looking back to me,
"Would you stop saying that? What about the chemo?" I said, my voice coming off more aggressive than I intended
"I don't know if I want to do that" She shrugged, standing to go to the kitchen
"Here let me," I tried to take the bowls,
"No. I can still take care of myself for now." she said sternly. I sunk back into the couch,
"Why would you not do chemo?"
"I don't know if I want to go through that for it to maybe work" she said as she rinsed out the bowls,
"If it even gives you a chance you need to take it Rose," I said as I stood and walked towards her
"Danny you weren't there, you didn't hear the list of side effects, or how intensive it is" She said as she turned off the sink and faced me,
"The side effects are nothing compared to the alternative, and I know you can handle it" I said,
"Danny. Do you not understand that I'm dying either way. One way sucks, and the other way sucks more and MIGHT give me more time." She snapped at me,
"If it gives you more time you need to do it Rose!"
"It's not your fucking choice!" She shouted back, tears in her eyes. "Get out."
"I can't leave you alone." I said, trying to lower my voice and control my anger
"I just told you I'm not that sick yet." She crossed her arms
"You may not think you are, but the doctor told us never to leave you alone." I said back defiantly.
"UGH" She groaned as she shoved past me, "I will call Josh. Leave me alone until he gets here"
"Rose.." She slammed her bedroom door in my face and locked it.
Josh's POV
I had been home a few hours, venting to Jake and taking a nap when I had stopped crying. I was awoken to my phone ringing. I answered immediately when I saw Rosie's name on the screen,
"Hey baby, everything ok?" I asked, sitting up.
"Can you come over," She sniffled,
"Whats wrong?" I asked as I stood up and started to pace
"Danny is trying to pressure me to choose chemo" She choked out, "I don't want to make that decision yet. I don't know if thats what I want, but I don't need anyone telling me what to choose when it's my body" She paused, catching her breath, "He won't leave until you get here"
"I just have to take care of a few things and I'll be right over ok?" I assured her, "I love you"
"Ok, thanks Josh, I love you." She hung up the phone. I packed an overnight bag and grabbed a few movies in case she wanted a movie night. I told Jake I might be gone a coupled of days and walked out the door. When I got to her apartment it was dark outside and Danny was sitting in the living room. He gave me an annoyed look when I walked in,
"Don't look at me like that, it's not my fault you pissed her off" I said as I took my shoes off.
"All I did was try to talk about treatment" He said throwing his hands up,
"From what she said you tried to talk her into treatment" I stopped, choosing my next words wisely, "And frankly it's kind of selfish."
"Excuse me?" he asked, raising to his feet, his eyes narrowing at me
"It's not our choice Danny. It's hers. You just want her around longer, I do too, but it's not our choice when its her body that has to go through it. It's not even going to make her better, it may not even work, and it will just make her feel worse."
"I don't have to listen to this." He said angrily and grabbed his keys, "Text me if you need to leave or something." he said as he walked out the door, slamming it behind him. I shook my head, calming myself as I walked to her room. She was sitting against the headboard and when I walked in her eyes shot to me, her angry expression softening when she realized it was me.
"Did he leave?" She asked. I nodded and walked over, sitting across from her.
"I'm in no way taking his side, but you do know he's only being like this because he's scared. We all are." She nodded, "But that still doesn't make it ok for him to pressure you. You need to choose what you want to do sweetheart"
"I know, it's just hard. It's not like I want to leave the both of you any sooner than I have to" She said, her bottom lip quivering, I crawled over next to her,
"It's an awful decision, but you don't have to make it right now." I wrapped my arms around her and pulled her against me. "What are you plans for the rest of the night?"
"I just ate, but I'm still hungry" She admitted, "Maybe junk food and a movie night? I love having those with you." She leaned her head on my shoulder,
"Sounds perfect. Pizza? Burgers? Chinese?" I asked as I pulled out my phone, "And I brought movies too," She grinned over at me,
"Pizza sounds amazing" she said with more enthusiasm than I'd seen in days.
"Pizza it is," I said placing the order. "Are we setting up in the living room or in here?"
"In here, my bed is much more comfy than the couch" She replied, "Where are the movies?"
"My bag is in the living room by the door." I replied as I stayed on the bed. She got up and walked into the living room to get my bag. "If coziness is an essential you look like you need to lose some clothes." I smirked as she walked back in. She playfully rolled her eyes.
"I'm actually about to change into my new pajama set I got for christmas from Lucas." she said, grabbing a bag off the floor and going to the bathroom. I quickly stripped my pants off, leaving myself in boxers and a thin t-shirt. She walked back in wearing a lavender silk pajama set. The top was spaghetti strap and the shorts were very short. How she looked amazing in every single color was a mystery to me.
"Well don't you look cute" I said with a smile,
"You like them?" she asked, looking at her reflection, adjusting the top slightly
"I do, but you look a little cold" I said, she turned and smirked at me,
"You know, I am feeling a little chilly" She said as she started slowly walking back towards me, "If only someone could warm me up" When she got close enough to the bed, I pulled her up until she was straddling my lap. She giggled as I pulled the covers over us both,
"Oh jeez, you actually are cold" I said as her hands reached under my shirt. I writhed a little and she just laughed. I reached up and gently pulled her down to me, kissing her deeply. She started lightly grinding her hips into mine, and I carefully flipped us, careful not to hit her head. She moaned as I pressed my body into hers. I heard a knock at the front door but ignored it, I felt Rose smile into our kiss,
"Josh" She said between kisses
"Hmm?" I hummed back as my hands traveled up her sides and I kissed at her neck,
"Josh," She giggled "It's the pizza"
"We can order more" I said quickly, she just laughed again
"Babe please, I'm hungry" She whined,
"Me too" I replied as I lightly bit her collar bone, she playfully smacked my shoulder. "Fineee" I groaned. She climbed out from under me and started towards the door, "Whoa, whoa, whoa, you're not answering the door in that" I said as I stood up, "You'll freeze."
"You're going to get the door like that?" She tried to hide her smile as she pointed at my obvious erection. I playfully glared at her as I grabbed a pillow, covering it as I walked for the door. I paid for the pizzas and walked back to her room. I tossed the pillow at her gently, she swatted it away as she grinned at me. "Here is your precious pizza" I said jokingly, "I'll be eating mine over here, and pouting"
"You are such a baby" She laughed as she got out a slice, "Come sit with me and I'll let you pick the movie" She bargained,
"I guess thats a fair trade," I got up and cuddled next to her as we started the movie, both devouring our pizza. When we finished our food she snuggled even closer and I had my arms around her.
"Hey Josh," she said softly,
"Hmm?" I placed my lips against her temple and hummed
"Thank you for treating me like normal" she said melting into me even more "Normal is all I want for as long as I can have it."
"I understand, and I will try and make that happen for you baby" I rubbed her back softly as I held her close. These moments would be with me forever, I loved her so much. I made a mental note to tell her, exactly how much I loved her, as much as possible. "I love you Rosie" my voice came out more broken than I anticipated,
" I love you too" she said quietly, almost asleep I assumed. She had told me once before that I better not ever forget how much she loved me, and I knew in this moment I never would. I would never forget a single detail about how much she meant to me, or how much I knew I meant to her. I knew that over the next year, or months, however long she had, she was my priority. Her happiness was all I cared about, she deserved the world and I was going to give it to her.

Connecting Flights w/Iwa
Summary: On Hajime Iwaizumi’s flight back to Japan, he meets an unexpected friend from his past who is a little hung up on someone else.
Iwaizumi x fem!reader/Oc || Read it on A03
Genre : romance, friends to lovers (wc: 2.2k)
Notes: Hiromi Miura is an original character, but readers are free to put themselves into her shoes! Coming of age fics are fun to write but I wanted to explore a world centered around adulthood that included a work life outside one’s significant other. Hope you can give me feedback on whatever world-building I’ve done. Successive chapters will def have more Iwa.
Hiromi Miura packed the last of her toiletries into her large black check-in luggage. Rolling the luggage out into the hallway, she checked her phone for the third time in ten minutes. Her boss, Hayate Hoshizora stood in the hallway waiting for her with her own luggage standing beside her.
“Where’s Tsuchida?” she asked.
Itsumi Tsuchida was the third member of their team of three and Hiromi’s room mate for the trip. She handled production and logistics so Hiromi and Hayate could write and shoot their articles on food history without worry. Despite her astounding efficiency with her work, Itsumi had a habit of being late.
“Itsumi is almost out. She’ll be here in a minute.” said Hiromi.
The three checked out of the small business hotel before going their separate ways for their last minute shopping. Hiromi wanted to window shop for shoes and cosmetics while Hayate set out to buy some omiyage for her family. Itsumi offered to accompany Hiromi on the condition they stop by for milk tea.
“Let’s meet outside of Time Square before 12 for lunch. I’m going to buy some jerky and maybe some dried goods. Do you guys want anything?” asked Hayate before they set off.
Hiromi declined. Itsumi asked for some jerky for her own omiyage.
As the two junior members of Hayate’s team entered Time Square, Itsumi noticed Hiromi was checking her phone again. She had been doing so whenever she could during the trip.
“Still no texts from Eita?” she asked Hiromi.
“Nope,” sighed Hiromi. Everything had been going smoothly just last week. She had been texting consistently with Eita. He even offered to call. She would send him photos of their first day in Hong Kong and he would eagerly reply.
Come the day before yesterday, he stopped replying all of a sudden. Hiromi had begun to worry that things had fallen apart without knowing why. Their last conversation was on Hong Kong protests. Eita fumed against the injustice, Hiromi agreed with him and nothing came after that. Maybe he joined the resistance?
“I don’t know what went wrong. I thought he liked me.” she moaned, “We have similar political views. Maybe I wasn’t enthusiastic enough when I replied to his call for justice or something.”
“Maybe you should just ask him about it.” Itsumi suggested, rolling her eyes.
“He ignored me for two days what else is there to say?”
“So why are you still looking at your phone?” Itsumi asked, with her brow raised at her co-worker, “Come, let’s go shopping to keep your mind off things.”
————————————————————————————
Hiromi and Itsumi had a penchant for hole in the wall restaurants. For their last meal, they asked to eat at a restaurant at the back of Time Square, nestled between narrow shopping alleyways. It was the first restaurant they ate in upon arrival and it would be their last meal too. They both ordered a bowl of wonton noodle soup and  a serving of bok choy shared between the three of them. Hayate ordered chicken noodle soup for herself.
The restaurant was small and narrow, not to mention humid from all the steaming and the boiling from the kitchen. Although the lunchtime service was quick and brash, the two did not seem to mind. The girls were well-travelled and cosmopolitan. They were used to environments different from the quiet efficiency of Japan. Hayate found it chaotic but the team did not get many out of country assignments so she took what she could.
Hiromi in particular specialized in writing about Southeast Asian diasporic (meaning a scattered population whose origin lies in a separate geographic locale) cuisine. Noise hardly fazed her but apparently boy problems did.
“Hiromi, you looked so forlorn. Are you really that sad about leaving Hong Kong?” she joked. Hiromi’s focus in her work was second to none. Her tolerance to mediocre young men, less so.
“There’s a boy who hasn't been texting back…” trailed Itsumi.
Hayate didn’t pry, but the girls opened up to her for just about anything.
“Oh, hmmm don’t overthink it.” she said.
“It’s ok, I mean he’s smart and artistic and he knows my friends, but I guess I wasn’t interesting enough.” wailed Hiromi in between bites of her noodles.
“Honestly, if he can’t be bothered to speak with you clearly, he doesn’t deserve your time.” said Hayate, sipping her scorching hot red tea burning a bit of throat in the process. Her eyes grew wide as her throat grew numb.
“That’s true, besides I feel like you’re more worried about why he doesn’t like you than the actual relationship.” sighed Itsumi, mixing some soy sauce, chili oil and black vinegar for their wonton dip.
“Enough moping, let’s eat and talk about something else.” exhaled Hiromi, raising her hand to call for cold water for Hayate.
The topic shifted to work. They were excited about editing the photos. Hayate couldn’t wait to unpack but was a little sad about going back to the office again. Itsumi dreaded doing the liquidation and desk work for their Hong Kong trip. Hiromi was buzzing with ideas for their next assignment and was hoping to pitch recipe ideas to the cooking staff at their next meeting.
Just before boarding, a familiar figure caught Hiromi’s eye. A tall, tanned boy with a lean muscular physique stood a few rows in front of her. He was wearing a white shirt and black athleisure pants. Iwaizumi from college?
The three were seated separately on the plane. Hiromi was seated near the back while Hayate and Itsumi were on the second row. As she got to her seat, Hiromi was surprised to find Hajime Iawizumi beside her, blinking sleepily at the seat in front of him.
“Miura-san!” he said in incredulity realizing that his college friend was right beside him in his Hong Kong layover.
“Iwa! It is you! I thought I saw you while we boarded.” she said, shoving her carry on onto the storage, “Also, do you really have to be so formal?”
“How are you doing?” he asked.
“What are you doing in Hong Kong?” she asked simultaneously.
“I just finished my time in LA. I’m moving back to Japan. This is my last layover.” he yawned, popping a breath-mint into his mouth.
“I work as a food writer and researcher for a publication in Tokyo. My team and I are just finishing up our assignment in Hong Kong. We get out of country assignments from time to time. I’m still kind of new, but when I become a veteran I’m hoping to get more regular trips.”
“Cool! I’m moving to Tokyo next week because I got a gig training members of a Division 1 Volleyball League! This week, I’ll be home to do some laundry and just get things in order.” he said.
“If you need help moving or settling in let me know. I moved to Tokyo just last year.” she offered, “It was crazy.”
Iwaizumi nodded and thanked her for her offer. They continued catching up as the plane took off and soon the stewardess began handing out food.
“I’m so tired of plane food. It’s all I’ve eaten in the past twenty four hours,” he sighed.
“This has definitely got nothing on everything I’ve eaten so far” she exhaled, “I can’t wait to go home, even my own cooking is better than this. I got lots of new recipe ideas to try too.”
“I thought you said you were a writer. Do they make you cook at work too?” he inquired. It seemed like her job required an awful lot of skills for one position.
“I can cook to some capacity. I don’t really cook at work, it just helps if I know how.” she waved.
They ate in silence, chewing through the mediocre airline food.
“By the way, I need some boy advice. Do you have space to hear me out?” she inhaled, gathering her courage before she unloaded her questions on her friend.
“Sure? What about it?” he shrugged.
Hiromi opened up about her latest romance and its frustrations. She gave him a bit of background on who he was and how they started the relationship particularly the wishy washy feelings about their courtship.
“Do you really like this guy? You’re having more questions and doubts than answers. That’s not really a good sign. You can go ahead and be upfront but is this guy worth it?” he asked thoughtfully.
“I don’t know. I want to give it a chance but each time I think about him I get more confused and anxious.” she sighed, putting down her utensils. She bumped her head against the chair in front of her.
“He also hasn’t texted back in a few days without saying why.” she promptly added, looking to him. Iwa jerked back, his arms in a flurry.
“Scratch what I said. I don’t think the relationship is going to work. It’s not serious enough for him if he can’t at least let you know why he goes off the grid.”
Her face fell, shoulders sinking into her back.
“Sorry,” apologised Iwa, pausing to empathize with her.
“I kind of already know this and I guess I just hate uncertainty suspense. I don’t know why I feel so affected to hear it out loud.” she groaned, massaging her temples. Iwa was not good at hearing about boy problems. He didn’t really know what to say.
“Why’d you go for him anyway?” he asked, thoughtfully chewing some eggs and shifting in his seat. The seat was obviously a bit narrow for his shoulders. Hiromi moved a bit to her right to allow him more space.
Her poster straightened up while she plopped her elbows onto the table. She clasped her hands together and thought for a bit before turning to him, her eyes wide and a tad bit glassy.
“He just ticked the boxes you know? I knew him from college and we understand the other worlds we worked in. He’s smart, artistic and apparently he’s been crushing on me since freshman year or something like that. I wasn’t seeing anyone so I thought I’d give it a shot.”
“But why are you adamant to make it work is what I mean?”
Hiromi shrugged her shoulders, “I can’t help but feel like it reflects on me. I feel like I’m not worthy enough when I can’t make a relationship work with someone who ticks the boxes.”
“I really hate dating and letting someone have this much control over my emotions though.” she growled at the chair in front of her.
Iwa had a small smile to himself, glad he was not in her place. She had always been the one better at giving advice when they were in uni together. He wished he could return the favor.
Before he got together with his college girlfriend, he was swimming in a lot of doubts about himself. It was difficult for him to speak about just anyone, but Hiromi was one of few who could coax the subject out of him.
“So how are you two getting on?” Hirom had asked him.
They were sitting together in the school cafeteria for lunch. Usually they sat with common friends and some classmates, but today they were alone which meant she could pry on Iwa’s love life. Even when Iwa wanted to talk about his girl problems, he had difficulty opening up. She saw it as her mission to initiate the conversation to help him out.
Iwa scratched the back of his head and sighed, “I don’t really know how I could be a better replacement for her ex. I’m not her first anything. I’m not any more good looking, or smarter or more athletic than he was. I’m not even nicer. I really don’t know if I’m worth the shot.”
His brow furrowed in concern. His lips were midway between a pout and a scowl.
She choked on her lunch. More often than not, it was Iwa encouraging other people and giving square judgement. Iwa was by no means arrogant, but he was also not self-deprecating. Hearing him speak about himself this so despondently was out of his character.
“Iwa, dating is not a competition!” she managed to say while pounding on her chest. Iwa handed her some water.
“I guess…” he mumbled.
After slugging down some water, Hiromi composed herself, “Yeah, her ex may have been great, but you’re great too! She likes you now which is why even if her ex is still in some of her friend circles she’d still rather date you.”
Iwa perked up a bit and smiled at his food.
“Just because you’re not her first doesn’t mean you can’t have a meaningful relationship right? What’s this obsession with being first? It’s not added value.” she said thoughtfully, putting her face between her hands as she leaned into her tray.
That lunch seemed so long ago. Who would’ve known that their next lunch after college would be a plane in between Hong Kong and Tokyo?
“Hey, are you still using the same email? Let’s keep in touch when we get back. I’m holding you by your promise to show me around.” he grinned, handing her his phone.
She continued sulking in half-hearted despair at the seat in front of her while she took his phone.
“Cheer up! I’m sure you’ll find someone in Tokyo.” he added, settling himself back into his chair looking at her.

Wonbin’s POV
Today we were going to watch some Get a Guitar dance covers for a YouTube video. We needed content so our manager thought it would be a good idea.
Anyway, we sat on the coach and the staff placed the camera on the tripod and the laptop on a table that was in front of us.
“Hello! This is Riize!” We all screamed enthusiastically.
“Today we’re going to be reacting to some Get a Guitar dance covers.” Shotaro spoke and we all clapped.
“The first one is by Artbeat.”
It was a pretty good cover, they all danced synchronized and with energy.
“Wow.” We clapped again. “That was so good.” Sohee commented. “Next!”
The second one was good too, they were a little bit out of sync but it was good nonetheless.
“This next one is by Iridescent Crew from New York.” Seunghan read the title of the video. “Okaay, a foreign group.”
Since the start of the video my eyes were glued to the screen. The girl doing my part was not only an incredible dancer but really pretty too, and it looks like I wasn’t the only one that thought that because I heard Anton, who was on my left, mutter a “wow”.
For the rest of the video I just watched her, and it wasn't because the rest of group was bad or anything, on the contrary, they were pretty good but the girl just mesmerized me.
"10 out of 10, for me." Sungchan said clapping. "What do you think, Anton?"
"She danced so good." He said with a dumb smile but after realizing what he said he flustered and tried to fix it. "I-I mean, they ALL danced super awesome."
"Aw, does our Little Anton have a cruuush?" Eunseok teased him, which wasn't surprising since he loved teasing him.
"N-no." The youngest stuttered.
"You're so cute." He pinched his cheek and soon enough everyone started mocking him, even me.
"Don't think you're off the hook, Bin." Shotaro spoke. "I also saw the way you were looking at one of the dancers."
Shit, I thought I was safe.
"I don't know what you're talking about." I tried to look at him with a blank expression.
"Your eyes were literally shinning."
"I'm still clueless." I played dumb, hoping it would work. I didn't want to be their next victim.
"Okay, then. Let's see if the fans saw it too or I'm crazy."
We saw our manager making a signal which meant that we needed to end the video, since we had another schedule soon.
"Okay guys, we'll end the video here. Thanks for watching, we hoped you enjoyed it." Sohee talked to the camera.
"Bye!" We all said and stopped recording.
"I'm going to be the laughing stock of the internet." Anton whined and cuddled to my side, putting his head on my arm.
"You'll definitely be." Eunseok laughed.
“Yeah, or they’ll think you’re cute. Fans love when the maknae acts adorable and such.” Sohee said.
“Let’s hope that’s the case.” Anton pouted.

Kim Donghyun “Leehan”: Met Anton when he was a trainee under KOZ, and he introduced Leehan to Wonbin. They’ve always hit it off nicely, they tend to have deep conversations, and always have fun when they’re together. And Leehan teaches them about fish while they teach him to play the guitar and about producing.
Kai Kamal Huening “HueningKai”: Wonbin met him through a 02’ group chat that includes, Taehyun, Enhypen’s 02 liners, Matthew, Taerae, Minhee and Hyeongjun. They became pretty close and with Anton, to who he introduced to later on, and now they’re even close with the rest of Txt.
Kim Gyuvin: Matthew and Taerae introduced them after they told him they were friends. Gyuvin literally begged them to do it since he thought they were so cool and knew they would became the best of friends. (He wasn’t wrong.)
Kim Taeyoung: Met Wonbin back in high school, but since he was a year younger they weren’t very familiarized with the other but they always greeted each other. They reunited when Taeyoung was mc at Music Bank and interviewed Riize. They recognized each other and asked for the other’s number and became really close.

Joshua Huh (22): Filipino/American. Basically the clown of the group, he laughs a lot and likes making other people laugh and happy. If you’re feeling down, he’s the guy you should go to. He’s kind and good natured, but also clueless most of the time.
Charles “Charlie” Seo (21): Korean/American. Hates people in general and his love language is teasing his friends and getting on people’s nerves. He’s bold and tends to be the one that encourages bad ideas.
Christopher “Chris” Moon (22): Korean/Australian. He’s afraid of commitment so his favorite activity is ghosting. His answer to basically everything is ghosting. He flirts a lot and his love language is physical touch. He gives amazing hugs.
