The bench top is done ( for now ) ... the end vice and array of dog holes still need to be installed, but for now I’m moving onto the lower frame joinery. The apron is glued along the front using through dovetails to join it to the side aprons....The back apron however is glued along the bench top, but is “floating “ in sliding half-blind dovetails at the back. This is to allow for wood movement through seasonal humidity changes. I begin again between the 12 and 1 o'clock position on the outer frame...the general areas are further defined and refined. This is the second pass of what I'm guessing will be six. This one sets things up and brings the elevations a little closer, the third will further define with an emphasis on details, the fourth will undercut and clean up tool marks on the surface, the fifth will be second inspection and sanding, and the sixth and final, finish!
