Local Teens spark Recipe Competition among Wrightsburgh Residents for a greater cause.

If you've been to Wrightsburgh's Plaza on 3rd lately, You may have noticed a distinct lack of interest in the McDonalds that stands alongside the strip mall that is home to Class Act dance studio, The Panda Pocket, and Divinity Designs. This drastic decline in sales and interest is due to a Parish wide boycott of the Yum! Brands Corporation since last year, due to controversy surrounding conflict in Palestine. Emotions are definitely high on both sides of the issue, and on both sides of the border with Israel and Local Teens (My Niece) Sasha Dupre and Adrien Lefluer, two McDonald's employees have proposed shutting the doors to the restaurant entirely, and launching a city wide hunt for the next hot restaurateur!

When asked to comment about the idea, they had this to say.

"What is going on in the world isn't secret anymore nor is it up for debate, we're all online and connected, we see what is happening. People make arguments about the conflict and everyone has their views, but the fact is We are clearly witnessing a purge in prime time and everyone with a television or a phone has a front row seat to gen*cide."-Sasha Dupre

"Seems people wanna make this about religion and ethnicity when it ain't even like that…anyone can just go on and look this stuff up…It's one group of people trying to er*dicate another group of people and it's been going on way to long ya know?…Supporting anyone that thinks this is a good thing is wrong ….my generation is going to inherit this world in the near future and I for one don't like the idea of a future where gen*cide is the answer to conflicts"-Adrien Leflure

Mayor Wright didn't hesitate to spring into action and his office began accepting entries into the competition this week and will name a winner Monday May 6.

This Morning Construction Crews rolled onto 3rd street to prepare a new building for the coming restaurant, He tells us that His office is focused on sending Humanitarian aid and pushing State representatives to act as well.

As Residents of Wrightsburgh, we talk a lot of the greater good and I'm proud to say it appears our young people are taking that to heart.

Wherever you stand on the matter we can all agree that this conflict is nasty and innocent people, families are being hurt and worse. If that isn't enough for you, You need to do some soul searching.

Wedding Bells Chime for Wrightsburgh

This year love was certainly in the air in Wrightsburgh, from puppy love sightings at the fair and Halloween haunted hayrides to wedding vows being exchanged and everything in between.

School Music Teacher Aimee Lacroix and mechanical genius Duane Davenport got married in a simple ceremony at Town hall witnessed by their close friends and officiated by Duane's own father Mr. Mayor Wright. Congratulations to the happy couple.

Mildred Davenport of The Weeping Willow Motel officially tied the knot with long time beau Nicholas Kringle of the Hells horsemen surrounded by friends and family at the Power Of Prayer Non Denominational Church. here is a photo set sent in of the Happy Couple's special event

Mayor and Dr Wright got in on the love fest with capping off the year with an extravagant vow renewal that the entire town was invited to, if you think that made it less special you couldn't be more wrong. Officiated by Reverend Khan of POP non denominational church, the wedding was given a soundtrack by the meth gators on strings and piano playing a small selection capped off with Bless the Broken Road as Dr Wright stunned in her gorgeous gown accompanied down the aisle by her eldest Son Nicholas. Nick wasn't the only Wright kid in the wedding in fact the wedding party was so full of Wright children and grand children that Mayor Wright's Groom's entrance was adorably stolen by his twin infant daughters in their wagon! the family has given us permission to show these clips and videos of the event here.

Club Red grand opening exclusive sneak preview!

In my last article I revealed that there will be a Grand Opening Celebration for the newly rebuilt Club Red. The date has been set - noon (10am SL) Saturday 2nd September, today!

On the 29th however, I was lucky enough to visit and get a sneak preview as they put the finishing touches on the interior. The paintings were up and Red and her team had really managed to capture the atmosphere of the old Club but with a stunning modern update. All in all, I think it’s a definite improvement, but I’d like to invite you to visit for yourself. 

The entrance level dance floor is a fully equipped modern club with a stage, DJ booth and a significantly larger and well stocked bar. Red has hired DJs, so they’ll be spinning discs for the dancers.

Red explained that she wanted the dance area to be more accessible for those who aren’t interested in the lifestyle.

 “This dance area will be more for just dancing and having a good time...still clothing optional but there won't be much sexual activity or BDSM unless it's a scheduled show” she explained to me at the beginning of our tour. “Upstairs is the VIP area for the kinky stuff and training classes as well as the studio and private rooms” she added “Upstairs will be for VIP's only but VIP's will be allowed to bring guests, one per visit”.

Stepping out of the elevator I was impressed by the tasteful yet erotic decor. Red explained that small private rooms were to the left, that could be hired and even customised for clients upon request. 

She also pointed out that they’d installed state of the art modern bathroom facilities

The private rooms are themed, and the aim is to be able to “be as inclusive as we can to all forms of kink” as Red put it, so there’s not much I can show here photowise, but if you’re interested have a private chat with Red and she’ll see what can be done.

The other side of the corridor contains the studio that the rejuvenation of Red Hot Productions will occur in, both photoshoots and films are planned, a group playroom that’s far too saucy for this newspaper, and Red’s comfortable office.

On the roof however, is something that the old Club Red didn’t have… a climate controlled all-year-round pool. As Red explained, “those that want to wear a suit can” but unlike the other pools around town, nudity and sexy times will be encouraged.

That brings us to the end of the rundown of my preview tour,so if you want to find out more, you’ll need to visit for yourself.

The Grand Opening has a ‘Leather and Lace’ theme, but as Red said, “all of Club Red is clothing optional” and “of course you don't have to dress up you can just vibe” as Ally put it. So there will be people both in costume and in casual wear. So if you can, join us there Saturday afternoon.

Saying goodbye to a familiar landmark

The old building that hosted Club Red has been one of the landmarks of the town. Caiden and I both agreed, indeed I think everyone I spoke to about it did, that the old place had its own charm. Formerly the Wrightsburgh Grand Hotel, the building was repurposed by Red to host private functions and club events. The Club has hosted many events from birthday celebrations to themed parties.

But unfortunately nothing lasts forever and as both the live-in Janitor and Red herself explained to me during recent interviews, the recent water damage meant it was time for the old place to be demolished.

John Cain summed it up concisely when he said “Water pipes burst and flooded the whole place...Boss lady felt it was the last straw and decided to tear it down and start over”. 

Laya ‘Red’ Wright went into more detail. “the place has been a struggle with wiring issues, plumbing issues, Heating and air issues...You name it...John has done the best He can at keeping the place functional but when a supply line in the ceiling that runs to the upstairs bathroom busted there wasn't much He could do... I figured it was time to upgrade into the modern age...that building was over a hundred years old”

Demolition

The builders swung into action promptly and very soon the site was being prepared for the new build. I asked to see the plans but there are several things being kept as a surprise. You’ll need to visit to find out for yourself, as will I.

Rebuild

I did get an interview with Red and Ally however, and they explained some tantalising hints about what the new purpose built Club Red building will be like.

“We will still have a stage and there will still be shows from time to time...but we will also have rooms for training and instruction for VIP's that wish to learn more of the craft side of BDSM” - Red “Yes I'm excited for all the new changes and ready to assist with anything further, the stage is a big part of the new design Red wanted there to be plenty opportunity for shows and exhibits of both vanilla and spicy variety” - Ally

“I will also still have my studio as well for pictures and Videos...I am hoping to get the Red Hot Production company back up and running soon which will include a Magazine which has been put on the back burner...it was something I have wanted to do but never got it into full production" - Red

One thing I am allowed to reveal is that they will be having a Grand Opening Celebration once things are complete and all will be welcome to attend. So watch for the date, Red will announce it ahead of time and we’ll make sure to print it too.

Roadhouse Mystery Solved

Hey ya’ll.

So, a lot of you will have heard the rumours… swamp magic, voodoo witch doctor attack.. Yeah… Nope. 

There *was* a mysterious freak accident out by the Roadhouse that triggered all this wild speculation though. Lisa Conis, who works at the Roadhouse, is currently recovering in JCW memorial hospital from a serious accident. Details are sketchy at this time but I’ll be in contact with further updates when we know more.

Hey ya’ll.

Further details have emerged about the accident by the Roadhouse. Inspector Guidry reported that it was a fall caused by carelessness and unadvisable tree climbing and would like to remind people that the swamps can be dangerous and to refrain from climbing trees for your own safety.

Lisa was apparently very lucky, and the bamboo bush broke her fall, although she needed surgery on several wounds she is expected to recover from her bizarre accident.

Summer in Wright's Parish

As Summer begins to wind down, Wright's Parish is just entering her hot girl summer era with more plans in store for us all. Before we take a sneak peek into the future, Let's take a look at what we've done already.

We got things started with a special momma's dinner, prepared by all the fathers in town.

Followed quickly with the annual Juneteenth celebration and Pride Skate event!

After the June festivities things got kicked into high gear with the celebration of the towns founding with the annual Wright's Parish Fun Fair starting July first and stayed up for fun seekers everywhere for three whole weeks! of daring gravity defying rides, horrifying thrill rides like the volcano experience! and the tower or terror! of course for those of us less daring there were the old favorites bumper cars, Ferris wheel, a host of other attractions BUT my partner and I do have a sweet spot for the concession stand! (Oh! sugar and carbs and grease oh my!) This year was truly a treat in addition to the standard fair offerings, Fair goers were met with choices ranging from Pizza cones to potato crusted cheese filled Korean street food inspired corn dogs to Jamaican Beef patties, and flame grilled steak skewers. My personal favorites were desserts, a few stand outs were the delicious soft served ice creams and frozen custards, fresh smoothies and icy slurpeez, deep fried candy bars, twinkies and Oreos!

What Can we look forward to till Autumn arrives?

Pool Parties, Movie Nights, Beach barbecues and Bonfires of course!

Town Favorite Worth a Visit or Three!

Greetings Faithful Readers.  It me, Rachel the Roving Reporter here again.  Today I am trying out Ray's Pizza.

From the outside, it is a nice clean lil pizzaria.  The kind you might find in Old Italy

On the inside, you might find local celebrities, such as our own Mayor Guy Wright, or even yours truly.

The food is good and the service is excellent.  Highly recommended.

Easter Sunday

Hi Everyone, I hope y’all had a great Easter weekend last weekend. As is traditional much of the community gathered for Rev Khan’s Easter sermon on Sunday, and to hear the songs of praise and live music from our wonderful church choir.

This year Rev Khan was inspired to preach a different sermon than the usual resurrection and new life focused one he’d originally had planned, and most of the congregation were likely expecting.

Instead he expanded on the need for preachers and Christians alike to love their neighbor - without an unless following it.

There’s no: Love your neighbour unless she got babies out of wedlock… There’s no: Love your neighbour unless he smoke a lil drank a lil drank… There’s no: Love your neighbour unless they come from another country… There’s no: Love your neighbour unless they look different… eat different… dress different…

There’s no: Love your neighbour UNLESS

When hate prevails we all fail. I think his prayer struck a chord with all of us;

"Most high we come to you this Easter to claim victory, victory over racism, classicism, sexism victory over homophobia, transphobia, and all forms of hate sweeping over the nation, right now we claim the glory love will spread faster than covid ever dreamed of"

Unfortunately, we live in a world where that victory has yet to be achieved, but we should all work towards the goal of uniting and preventing hate.

But in Wrightsburgh at least, we’re welcoming of outcasts and encourage people to be their best selves, whatever that means for them, without the hatred and judgement found elsewhere - indeed I’d like to think the town hasn’t forgotten its underground railroad days.. Or why else do we celebrate Juneteeth each year?

I leave you with the thanks Mayor Wright gave before we headed over to his yard for food and egg hunting, “No matter what goes on in th' outside world ever' Wrightsburghian should always have love in their hearts fer their neighbor no matter who they are or where they come from...We was put here fer a reason an' we will continue till the sky falls on our heads....”

Happy Mardi Gras everyone!

Happy Mardi Gras everyone!

Masks! Costumes! Floats! Feathers, Dancing in the Street… Top Hats, even more Feathers!

Yes, that’s right, the Annual Mardi Gras Day parade.

Ella May Dupre was the MC announcing the floats as they arrive… the most popular of which seeming to be Eaton’s Higher Education float… but that’s probably entirely down to the free moonpies.

Last year’s Royalty, Joe and Dolly, looked very regal on their thrones which was drawn by beautiful angels on horseback.

There also an old cop cruiser, festooned with yellow, purple and green decorations that matched the drinks stand and Ally’s costume.

It can now be confirmed that our DA and Sheriff are together, they attended as a couple and I spotted them sharing a sweet moment.

Then it was on to the dancing, with Crazy Johnny Voodoo once again working his magic.

It seemed like most of the town turned out to watch or dance.

The weekend before Valentine’s day saw the introduction of a new event to Wrightsburgh’s event calendar. The Mayor opened up his mansion for a night of romance and mingling, dinner and dancing. What a night it was, with an excellent dinner of fine dining from Madam Collette’s followed by dancing to both WODO radio’s Johnny Voodoo spinning his tunes to a live performance of Ella’s Jazz.

The selection of food and wines was exquisite. I chose a Duck a la Orange, but that was merely one of the many dishes on offer. I was able to catch up with my half-brother Duane and Aimee during the meal, but there were many of the major families of Wrightsburgh present, including of course the Mayor Guy ‘Pops’ Wright and the Lady Mayor, Dr Carolyn Wright.

One couple that did catch the eye of this reporter was the introduction of Carolyn’s son, Nicholas Wright, who spent much of the evening with School counsellor Phyllis Frond.

Other well known members of Wrightsburgh were also in attendance, with Ally and Eaton Wright sitting with Nicholas and Phyllis for the meal, whereas Lori and Lisa Conis spent most of the evening on the dancefloor with Rachel and Petra.

After the delicious dinner and dessert, everyone converged on the dance floor and we were treated to a live set from Ella’s Jazz.

Who’s Who WB - Paul

So although his arrival may have been overshadowed by the new Mall, I finally got a chance to catch up with Paul Maverick. 

He’s not exactly a newcomer however, having grown up on a farm from within the greater Wrightsburgh parish, which he then took over when his father died. Although he delegates most of the day to day running of the business so he can look after his mother. He and Eaton Wright knew each other a while back.

He told me that he’s been getting extra money by shelf stacking and working as a pornstar as a hobby.. a hobby that also earns him money.

I asked him if he had something to say to all the Guys and Gals in Wrightsburgh and he went with this message, ‘Stay safe, be kind to other people and try to have fun.’

So hey, if you see him around, give him a wave and say Hi.

Record Breaking Homecoming!

It’s that time of year again. Go Devils!

I’m of course referring to the Football team of our great Frances Lee Wright school, who had a record breaking home game against the Hathian Gators, an explosive start to this season.

I was there, supporting the Wrightburgh Fighting Devils of course… and after half time, wearing a red foam Devil horn headband. But I’m getting ahead of myself.

Ray Desilvio of Ray’s Pizzas was there to give us the play-by-play and to support his son Gabe, who plays for the Fighting Devils. Before the action started (and during half-time as well) we were treated to a display from The Marching Inferno!, otherwise known as the Frances Lee Marching band.

Both the Marching Inferno and the Fighting Devils were loudly cheered on by the Demonettes cheer squad with their sizzling hot stepping, energetic displays of athletics and glittering Devil Red pompoms.

The game itself was impressive, especially as a first match of the season.. The teamwork of the Wrightsburgh lads was impressive, with Adrien Lefluer, Gabe Desilvio and Kevin Walker almost acting as if they could read each other’s minds. The Gators were stunned and did what they could, but nothing was stopping the Devils, especially with all the crowd on side and chanting… and at half-time Eaton Wrights record for most touchdown passes in a Homecoming game looked like it was seriously under threat even with the Gators landing a Touchdown just before time ran out and halftime was called.

At Halftime, it was Devils 21, Gators 10. Chillidogs were had, and Devil’s horns headbands were passed out. There were even a few fireworks at the end of the half-time display.

Somehow the Gators rallied a little in the second half, but were still unable to prevent Walker adding another touchdown for the Devils.. 28-10. He celebrated by tossing the ball to his sweetheart in the bleachers.. it flew over my head, and the girl who was sitting behind me caught it with a loud cheer. She’s got a good catch there.

To chanting from the Demonettes, it is then Desilvio’s turn to get a Touchdown, catching the ball in the end zone and bringing the score to 35-18. Which given the pass came again from Lefluer, meant that young Adrien had tied with Eaton’s record… but would he manage to surpass it?

As time began to tick away, it looked like the answer was going to be no… the Devils got the ball with just 15 seconds on the clock, and I even heard Eaton say there wouldn’t be enough time to break the record, expecting them to just kneel and let the clock run out, they were so far ahead it was already definitely a win.

But Adrien Lefluer and his team surprised us and the Gators, launching into a hail Mary throw right into the end zone… Desilvio made a great leap, just barely catching it… and it was the 5th Touchdown that broke the record. There was stunned silence, then everyone broke into cheers and applause.

So congratulations once again to the Devils and to Adrien Lefluer for breaking one of Eaton Wright’s records. Eaton gave the up and coming star a thumbs up… and I heard that Adrien was also selected as Homecoming King this year, a well deserved reward.

Belle Court Mall is indeed Belle!

The Wrightsburgh gossip circles are a buzz about the new Belle Court Mall, currently almost complete up out on Route 69. I was lucky enough as a reporter to gain a sneak preview on behalf of the Gazette, thanks Ally for arranging the tour! As she showed me around the modern and impressive building, I asked her what if she thought the new expansion to Wrightsburgh’s shopping scene was related to the rampant inflation going mad outside our town. Her reply was very insightful. “I think Wrightsburgh kind of exists in a economic bubble and along with that bubble sometimes comes a rejection of things like shopping malls unless they align with the more democratic socialist views of the town. A mall kinda goes completely against Wrightsburgh's whole shtick.....unless this will be the worlds most affordable mall with the highest paid mall employees". Which is pretty much what this will end up being.

Looking at the busy preparation to open up within the Belle Court it was clear, as Ally explained to me, that the companies being allowed to set up stores here had been specifically selected to ensure they didn’t step on the toes of any existing Wrightsburgh businesses, meaning that they would save residents trips out to New Orleans or lengthy waits for mail order deliveries. This would have the added advantage of keeping Wrightsbugh dollars in Wrightsburgh, minimising the effect of the inflation elsewhere. Indeed, when I approached the Mayor’s office for a statement, Pops made much the same argument.

“Construction is almost complete on The new Belle Court Mall on Rt. 69 Next to Club Red. It is the hope of the Mayors office and the city council that this mall will provide great opportunities for citizens to not only shop at name brand stores locally but also help sustain our great economy while the rest of the world struggles. Let it be known however this will in no way effect our charity outreach programs that are in place to help those in need and who are deserving outside Wrightsburgh” - Mayor Guy Wright

The First Floor has Hollister, Abercrombie & Finch, Sephora on the left side as you enter, the food court directly behind the fountain, and a Wrightsburgh-style “Don’t care what the f*ck your plumbing is” restroom, an old style Arcade and Buckle off to the right.

I’m sure the Arcade will provide much needed hang-out space for the teens of the town, which I have it on good authority were getting rather bored over the summer, once their homework was done of course!

Taking the escalators upstairs brought me to the Second Floor main store fronts for Tomford, Guchi and Chanel. It did take me a little moment to get over these designer stores being here in remote Wrightsburgh, but given the Wright’s penchant for fashionable style I’m sure they will be very popular.

Off to the left is Victoria’s Secret and Claire’s, which I can’t wait to have a browse of when they open…

Then it was back down to the food court for a chat and a cool Julius juice puree. If you’ve yet to try them I do recommend them.

Indeed, I recommend the entire Mall, and can see it becoming a bit of a community hub, even if it is out of town, due to the convenient bus-stop and plenty of parking. Not least the atmosphere of chilling by the fountain with a cool juice smoothie.

Wrights Parish Fair!

I tried the Orbiter first, simply because it looks kinda tame.  And Blue.  I like Blue.  And I loved this ride, even though the Mayor fell asleep on it.

Juneteenth 2022

Once again Wrightsburgh celebrates Juneteenth with style. The man on the hot-seat above the dunk tank - and in it multiple times, was Caiden Sloane this year. Pops had an impressive ‘100% dunkage’ record with his throws, and both his wife and Caiden’s wife also dunked Caiden multiple times.. As they explained, “It’s for charity”.

The weather was very hot again which caused me to regret that Stanley wasn’t there with his ice-cream this year. Caiden and the kids were the only ones that got cool it seems, because the kids had a series of fountains to play in, and they had swimming costumes with them, which unfortunately I didn’t.

It being Father’s day as well this year, understandably the conversations turned to family… which led to Dr Wright giving Pops a Father’s day present. We all wondered what it could be.. Yet it was a positive pregnancy test! She revealed to Pops that she’s pregnant with another child! We wish them both congratulations.

Dr Haiti Baptiste was there running the food stall, which as usual contained a great selection prepared by the Wrights and other notable townsfolk. Many familiar faces were there including Sherriff Jazmine Honeypot with District Attorney Richard Head, newly weds Deputy Joe and Dr Dolly Johnson-Dagger.

I spent some time talking with Constance Bajoliere-Guidry who works at the library and is part of the group that arranges the information boards at the fete every year. She asked after my family, and I’m pleased to report that both our families are doing well, if we did share concerns that her twins might be working on trying to equal Eaton’s impressive weed consumption a little too much whilst they work for him at Higher Education!

I’m pretty sure it was Lydia and Lisa’s first time attending Juneteenth… they both seemed to enjoy themselves, sporting matching balloon hats and leaving together hand-in-hand. I’ll have to talk with Aunt Millie about what the gossip is there…

But to sum up the holiday I would like to share this tweet, which I feel focuses our attention on the real meaning of Juneteenth, in a way that the fete and firework shows don’t.

Breaking News - Shooter Captured!

Here’s Carol with the promised update. Details are unclear, but we’ve heard from the Mayor that the shooter that has kept all of us on edge after he shot our Sheriff and Mayor out in the swamps before Christmas (see my previous articles for further details of that incident ) has finally been captured. 

“The Guy has been caught” Pops said, speaking to me informally yesterday at his wife’s birthday party. Happy Birthday Carolyn!

As a Gazette exclusive, we can reveal that this is all down to the heroic efforts of one of the newer members of our community, Aberash ‘Abi’ Abebe, who, on Pop’s orders, pursued the culprit out of Wrightsburgh successfully. All she would say was “Well… I got my man”. For further details we will have to wait… but not for that much longer.

Pops revealed to me last night that he is calling a full press conference for this Wednesday, the 12th January where the details will be revealed, and I promise there will be a follow up article in the Gazette shortly afterwards.
