xoxo, @wssuji
when yurim had received the dance demo for naughty, she was certain that she wouldn’t be able to do it. vogueing was a new dance genre to her and for someone who’s only done typical idol choreographies up to this point, she knew she was in for a lot of practice. while she wasn’t a bad dancer at all, learning something new was always a challenge.
her only hope at this point was that suji would get it down faster than she would and then give her some pointers. sitting down on the floor of the practice room, she replayed the dance demo once more before looking at the arcana member besides her. “have you tried this style before?” a part of her is praying that she says yes or it looks like they’ll both be her all day. this was definitely an upgrade from the cover song they had to perform a few episodes back.
“getting the technique down is probably going to take up most of her time, huh?” she lets out a chuckle before reaching up to tie her hair into a ponytail. with the angles and precision that’s seemingly being required, it felt like a good idea to get a good view of her shoulders too.

the phoenix boys had just been given a break, time to go spend with their familes while they relaxed and recharged. they had been so excited. but for moonsik, it just meant the deafening silence of the empty phoenix dorm when he remembered to leave the yuseong building enough to return to it. the break reminded him of the loneliness. sure, he could have gone home to his mother but he didn’t know if he was welcome there anymore. or if he wanted to go, even if by some miracle he were welcome. it had been more than two years since he had tried to visit, after all.
moonsik was drowsy after the train ride. clutching his phone in hand, he prayed that the address he had kept tucked away in his notes was right. he didn’t know what he would do it he came all the way to busan only to find himself even more lost and lonely than he had been when he set off from seoul.
he hadn’t warned her of his impending arrival. it had been more of a spur of the moment desicion on his behalf. and once he had made up his mind it couldn’t be swayed. moonsik was lonely. and he wanted his suji. he could only hope that she missed him as much as he had missed her
he took a deep breath as he watched movement in the windows above him. was this took much? coming all this way uninvited? he tried to push the thoughts of being unwelcomed aside before he lost his nerve and just went back to seoul and quickly hit call,  lifting the phone to his ear as it began to ring.

originally, eunbyul had debated skipping the trip entirely, opting instead to spend the day enjoying the silence in the dorm while the rest of the select contestants had their day of fun. but, much like usual, she found herself changing her mind in a split second and here she was, standing in the middle of the park as crowds filtered around.
she found herself staring up at the ride in front of her, laughing quietly as she listened to the screams from the individuals who were being thrown about by the swinging ship. it didn't sound like fun. why would someone enjoy something that they seemed to be so scared of. either way, it looked fun to her. and she wanted to try it.
there was only one problem. only losers went on ride alone. and ryu eunbyul was most certainly not a loser. in fact, she was the complete opposite. taking a quick look around, she zeroed in on a familiar face, one that she had spent many years alongside. "ya!" she called, making sure that her voice could be heard over the crowd. "oh suji." she pointed at the ride once she had her attention. "let's go. were going on that."

The former female trainees in Wishbone Records would soon be clearing out their lockers and departing to their new company. One would presume that not seeing her every day would come as a welcome relief for the Dandelion member. That she could stop the melancholy tunes blaring in her ears ㅡ all of which ended up being about her once again. After so many years apart, the assumption should have been that both of them moved past it. Even managing to speak to her for more than two seconds at a time was a feat in itself.
Perhaps too much time passed to pinpoint exactly what changed and when but she’s cognizant enough to realize, lately, it’s been even worse. But her overly curious mind was prone to over-thinking, victim to a buzzing only she could hear.
Eventually, Chorong knew she would have to reconcile her differences with those she undoubtedly wronged ㅡ  falling under the expectations of what any person should reasonably do when wracked with guilt. However, she was not one well-versed in the art of confrontation. Facing something like this head-on once more ( by choice ) was not a move someone without any modicum of preparation should do. Surely she would end up a pile of limbs on the floor, crumpled over herself if she went through with it.
The air is notably cold and frigid that day. Chorong can see the pale tufts drifting from her own lips with each word ㅡ even buried in her thick scarf. She played the waiting game in spite of being a girl brimming with impatience. Her arms are brimming with a bouquet of hyacinths and peruvian lillies. ( The florist told her the latter were the best for apologies. )
The moment her target stepped out of the building, she outstretched the bouquet and small box of sour candy in her arms and folded herself in a deep bow.
“Congratulations on everything, Suji!” She did not lift her head to make eye contact with Suji, keeping bowed until she could feel the gifts being taken from her hands. And she prayed that the burden would be lifted.

(     BEAUTIFUL PAIN.    ) @wssuji
Three years could whisk by like a bullet train. Three years could drift along like a tugboat. For Han Chorong, it was somewhere in between.
She filled that time with selfish focus on herself. Training, keeping relatively quiet in her room with her nose buried in a horror novel or snacking when she shouldn’t be. The only thing left untouched happened to be her phone. Notifications turned off. All pieces of mail irrelevant to her contract: tossed. Isolation sounded better on paper, that much was certain. Without the distractions of things on the outside, there would be no way she could lose focus. There was no time for letting herself feel regret. That would come later. One year before her debut, to be precise.
When not stuffed with earbuds, her ears caught wind of a new batch of female trainees joining Wishbone Entertainment. The optimist in Chorong looked forward to making new friends ㅡ if they would be willing to call themselves that. ( One could never be certain, considering said trainees came from Yuseong, of all places. ) Even now, she recalled the way her heart dropped seeing her again. Hardly recognizable with hair that short. What gave it all away was her familiar disposition and that face that she wouldn’t be able to forget no matter how hard she tried.
Chorong still hadn’t come to terms with how frequently she would see Suji on a daily basis. It certainly felt more often than the time they were meant to be together. Was she ignorant for being enamored with an idol, or was Suji playing with fire for taking a risk being with her, in the first place? Chorong never bothered to ask, and there was little chance she would ㅡ for each time she saw now the other girl in the hallway, she bowed her head or deliberately trotted away in the other direction.
Three years of neglecting the contact she promised to keep with her. What harm would a few months more do? She thought, fully aware of how ignorant the rationalization sounded. Even in her disillusioned mind.
In a rare, foolish fit of spontaneity, Chorong actively relieved the frantic intern of her chore bringing water down to the practice rooms for the trainees. She was now an idol, technically a senior, and would use such an excuse to enter the room on her own to deliver what she considered to be a peace offering. Cold water as compensation for a cold heart. Unfortunately, she couldn’t see the irony in it.
She slid open the door, fully expecting to be greeted with a room full of all five trainees practicing for their inevitable first exposure to the public in years. However, her eyes found there to be only one. Suji. There would be no way fate would allow her to escape the consequences of actions she never once uttered an apology for.
“I brought you water. As, um... congratulations on the upcoming show.” Chorong slowly began to backpedal, as if intent on leaving the room immediately after.
