Stray thoughts
1) So, they’ve done a DNA test and it is Willa. Dolls basically spelled out my train of thought at the end of the last episode. There are two heirs now. But Wynonna is more concerned about Willa as her sister, and the fact that they simply assumed she was dead and stopped looking for her. But how were they supposed to know? They were just little kids dealing with a lot of shit.
2) How old was Willa when she was taken, though? I thought she was eleven or thirteen. Can a girl that age really forget everything about her identity? I mean, if you’re traumatized enough I guess you could forget. But everything?
3) Who are these two idiots letting out?
Tumblr media
I immediately got the feeling they were like mermaids, luring them in so that they could take advantage. But these two dudes deserved to die – they knew they shouldn’t make eye contact and yet…
4)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Seriously, though, how can she not see it?
5) What is a Poker Spectacular?
6) I don’t know what these are…
Tumblr media
…but they look as if they were taken out of a video game.
7) I love that in her opinion this is a good enough reason to try to burn down her classroom…
Tumblr media
She fucking handcrafted little papier-mâché demons…
8) Well…
Tumblr media
…the judge did say the hotel was to die for.
9) Oh, wow, their parent doesn’t seem like the most stable influence in the girls’ lives…
Tumblr media
He was training her but he was so aggressive about it, and he was drinking and shouting at her. Now it makes more sense that he would strike up a deal with Bobo, for some reason.
10) Of course, Doc’s car broke down. He wouldn’t know how to fix it…
Tumblr media
And I think the dude who stopped to help him knows what’s what in Purgatory. He could totally tell why Doc was sending him to look for the keys over the mark – to check whether he was a revenant or not.
11) Oh, ouch. Waverly didn’t deserve that…
WILLA: You kept my death certificate.
WAVERLY: Yeah. To remind myself it was actually real. You know, that you were actually gone. I was 6, right? I saw the little white coffin, but I knew that you weren't actually in there. They'd filled it with sandbags.
WILLA: Was it a nice service?
WAVERLY: All I remember was a lot of crying. And the food. The grown-ups let me eat as many marshmallows as I wanted. I threw up all night long.
WILLA: Gee. That must have been so hard for you. I'm sorry. It's just it's really intense. You guys killed me.
I understand how Willa feels, but she’s making Waverly and Wynonna feel responsible for something they couldn’t have possibly been responsible for! Waverly just mentioned that she was fucking 6 years old! And Wynonna was how old? 10 or something? They were kids. None of the decisions that were made regarding Willa were their responsibility! They just had to deal with the consequences of the decisions made by the grownups. It’s a bit unfair because they were all victims.
12) Oh…
Tumblr media
That doesn’t make things better…
13) Wynonna is feeling insecure about her being the heir. It kind of reminds of Buffy and Kendra, in a way. Wynonna saw the curse as a burden, but even if she didn’t allow herself to admit it, it makes her feel powerful and worthy, and it gives her a sense of purpose. Now that Willa is back, not only could she be replaced, but she may find that someone else is better at her job than she is. Willa also mentioned earlier how Wynonna seemed to hate having to do the heir’s work, and I know that on the surface, that’s what Wynonna claims. But we know that in many ways, becoming the heir saved her, and she actually enjoys kicking bad guys butt. I always find this type of journey absolutely fascinating – Wynonna did start as a reluctant hero, but I know she wouldn’t want to be anything but a hero now… Can’t wait to see where her journey leads her.
14) omg she sounds like me!
Tumblr media
Also, was she able to shake the glamour off because of her heir status or was that just a Wynonna thing?
15) Are they going to bite Doll’s dick off? Weirdly, I think I’d like to see that.
16) Oh, Dolls, you dirty pig…
Tumblr media
17) Me, talking to my students…
Tumblr media
Has Doc found his soul mate? They are like two kindred spirits.
18) Juan Carlo? Really? That’s possibly the most ridiculous name they could’ve come up with. That being said, I really like his conversation with Doc and what it could mean for the story. It seems that J.C. – I’ll call him that – is part of some sort of PTB group and they’ve decided to interfere. He warned Doc about the fact that in four days the doors will open – I’m guessing some kind of Hellmouthy doors – and that if that happens, it will be the end of Wynonna. He urged Doc to face the darkness with Wynonna by his side. Tbh, I think he just ships them. But it all sounds super promising either way.
19) Well, she is an Earp after all…
Tumblr media
20) Uh-oh…
WILLA: He told me I had nothing to worry about, to just stay calm. He knew the attack was coming, Wynonna.
21) She most definitely is an Earp…
Tumblr media Tumblr media
22) Willa is not messing around, though…
WILLA: I'm sorry, maybe I'm unclear about this whole curse thing. There are revenants; there are Earps. The Earps - that's us by the way make sure all the revenants get a bullet to the brain from Peacemaker, or die trying. Am I missing something?
DOLLS: Yeah. Civilians. And as far as human witnesses are concerned, you just shot a random person in a bar.
WILLA: Ah! In Purgatory, that's old news.
DOLLS: Yeah? Well, that's the type of thing that can get Purgatory on the wrong side of the nuke.
WYNONNA: She didn't know. I made the same mistake.
WILLA: Wynonna, why are you listening to this buzzkill in army boots?
DOLLS: Buzzkill?
WILLA: Yeah.
DOLLS: Buzzkill? I'm a U.S. Marshall with Black Badge, you hear me?
DOLLS: He's been helping us.
WILLA: You mean, you're following his orders, and not  your own instincts.
DOLLS: Aw, come on.
WYNONNA: We're a team.
WILLA: I thought I was the brainwashed one.
23) Excuse you?
WILLA: We were two peas, you and I. It's always been you and I.
WYNONNA: Yeah, I remember.
WILLA: It can be like it always was. And different too in all the right ways. You're not alone anymore.
I really was expecting Wynonna to tell Willa she hadn’t been alone because she had Waverly. I feel personally offended by this.
And I don’t know how I feel about Willa. Something’s off about her – and it’s not the I-was-kidnapped-and-lived-my-whole-life-in-a-cult thing…
I’ll have to trust my girl Waverly on this one. There must be a reason why she was afraid of Willa touching her…
24) Yes, Bobo, three Earp girls…
Tumblr media Tumblr media
25) Why are they being attacked by S.W.A.T. or something? I don’t understand!!!
26) Dolls is fucking badass, though, he just picked that grenade and threw it out the window!!
27) So much is going on and I don’t understand any of it!
28) Did that asshole just shoot Waverly???!!!
29) Now I can get behind this!
Tumblr media
30) Ugh Waverly was shot and Willa couldn’t give two damns and now Wynonna is torn between her two sisters!!
31) WTF!!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Why did Bobo save Willa???
32) And Willa saved Bobo???!!! What the fuck is going on??? What does this mean? Does it mean that the attack was actually Bobo trying to protect the girls’ dad and Willa? Was that the reason they took her? Was it all a set up? I don’t understand!!
33) I remember this quote!!! Someone sent it to me when I play the “making fandoms collide” game…
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Is Wynonna that thick, though? When will she figure it out? Does she need Waverly to spell it out for her?
34) And the SWAT dudes were after Dolls…
35) Will Willa fall in love with Bobo? I think I might want to see that…
36) So the judge sent those dudes… and now Bobo wants the judge to throw him a party?
37) NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Tumblr media
Do not fuck with Doc!!!!!!!!!!
38) This was definitely an interesting episode, shaking up the sisters' dynamics with the arrival of Willa and setting up a lot of stuff that I hope will come to a head during the finale, which is only two episodes away! I can’t believe I’m almost done with season 1, but I seriously can’t wait to see how they wrap up this season!
39) Hope you enjoyed my recap, and, as usual, if you’ve got this far, thank you for reading! If you enjoy my recaps and my blog, please consider supporting it on ko-fi.Thanks!

72 for Bobo del Rey holy fucking tomatoes
FFN II AO3
Summary: Wyatt Earp gets a first-hand experience at just how much his friend Robert has changed since he last knew him.
Notes: One of the reasons I haven’t buckled down and written a multi chapter spec fic is that I have to many ideas. One of those is where Wyatt comes back and the team finds him. I was discussing part of that idea with someone and realized how well this little part would fit the prompt. So here we are. I don’t intend to have a resurrected Wyatt in any future one-shots (maybe? You never know. An AU to a little series of one shots that will eventually be AU?).
Writing Prompt #76 “You deserve so much better”
Deserve Better (Fallen Series)
They’d found him locked away in what was little more than a dungeon. How long he has been there, Wyatt really couldn’t say. It had been a blur of time. The one thing he was certain of was that it was Clootie’s doing. He would never forget that demon’s face.
Everything had happened so fast he had barely had time to process it. Three men had appeared at his cell door, one of which had been Doc Holliday. Wyatt had felt relief sweep through him as he pulled his old friend in. He was alive. How didn’t matter. Not anymore. Not after everything.
The second man in - a deputy marshal by the name of Dolls he found out - had hurried Doc along in getting Wyatt free. The third spoke in a low, almost strained voice when he announced that they weren’t alone and to get Wyatt out of there. He would meet up with them later. It hadn’t been until they had gotten out that they had explained that their third was a Revenant himself. The other Revenants couldn’t kill him even if they tried, so he was the one that got to buy them time. Wyatt never saw the Revenant’s face and he didn’t recognize the name that Doc called him by. Funny, he thought he remembered each of those that had been caught up in the curse.
Bobo Del Rey had kept tight control of most of the Revenants in Purgatory, so Wyatt learned. He had lost a lot of that when Clootie was resurrected, but he’d struck a deal with the current Heir and those still loyal to him were willing to help them put Clootie down in return for a free pass when all of this was over. Seemed like a fair enough deal. Or it would have been if they were still men and not demons.
And that was what had brought Wyatt Earp to this strange place with its high gates, guards armed with guns very different than the ones he was used to, and glowing red eyes side-eyeing him even as they let him in. He held his hands up as a sign of what he hoped was good faith. “I’m here to speak to Bobo Del Rey,” he declared. He just needed to know for himself who this creature really was. He needed to make sure his great great granddaughter wasn’t making a mistake that would cost her her life.
He made them nervous, that much was obvious. They wouldn’t make eye contact with him and answered any questions he asked in short sentences. He finally caught one Revenant’s eye, a thin smile quirking his lips at the way he shifted away when Wyatt called him by name.
Their mood seemed to change as another approached, and he looked about the right height for the Revenant that had been with Doc and Dolls earlier that day. Wyatt hadn’t gotten a good look at his face, but he would now, and hopefully he’d have a better idea what to expect. There were half a dozen outlaws he’d come up with that might have changed his name and taken over, and none of those former men instilled any sense of trust in him.
“Wyatt Earp,” that same deep voice from earlier greeted him as he approached. He was a sight with most of his hair shaved off his head except the strip of stark white hair, a single strip of black in it. He wore a heavy fur coat with buckles and straps, his shirt torn beneath it and his boots an odd style. Nothing like what Wyatt was accustomed to, but the world had certainly changed in the last ninety or so years.
It was those eyes that Wyatt recognized, and it felt like someone had dealt him a hard blow to the middle. He couldn’t draw a reasonable breath in as he stared. “Robert,” he managed with what remained of the air in his lungs and his friend stiffened a little at the name.
“Take a walk, boys,” he instructed the Revenants around them.
“But he-”
“You think I don’t know who he is? A man doesn’t forget the one that killed him.” Robert’s voice was cold. Somehow those blue eyes were sharper when they weren’t hidden behind his spectacles. “Plans haven’t changed tonight. Get to work.”
The Revenant Robert had directed the order to looked over to Wyatt. “You gonna have him take Carl over?”
Robert snorted. “Wyatt Earp? Wouldn’t want him to dirty up that conscious of his. I said I’d do it myself. Nothin’s changed.” The expression he wore looking so foreign on his features. Everything looked… off. It left Wyatt feeling a little sick. Like a monster wore his friend’s face. A demon.
The Revenants moved away to whatever business they were being sent on and Robert waited until they were out of earshot to turn back to meet Wyatt’s eyes. “Let me guess, Holliday sent you here without telling you who I was, hoping you’d catch me in the middle of something you’d hate.”
The words threw the gunslinger a moment. “I don’t think that was his intention,” he managed after a moment, but even he wouldn’t have believed himself and it certainly didn’t look like Robert did as he chuckled, flashing white teeth in a way that made him look strangely dangerous. He was, Wyatt reminded himself. He hadn’t escaped the curse.
“Oh, I think you and I both know better than that,” he murmured, something like amusement colouring his voice. “Hank gets his blows in where he can, and fighting for the same cause does limit him on the ones he can get away with these days.”
Wyatt had always known that the two men wouldn’t be close, but he’d hoped on some level they might be able to get past their differences. Apparently not.
He cleared his throat. “Well, at least I understand now why you were willing to side with Wynonna. I… I’d hoped that you might have escaped this curse-”
“Did you?” Robert tilted his head in question. “Because the good ol’ padre got me a set of letters you left for me explaining everything. Sure as hell looked like you knew I’d be caught in it.”
Wyatt closed his eyes, gathering himself. Robert was angry with him. It wasn’t like he’d meant to wrap him up in this mess. He hadn’t meant to get his friend killed. “I’d hoped,” he repeated sternly. “I am sorry, Robert. Truly I am, but if this had to happen… at least we can face this together.” He watched as Roberts expression melted from a sort of shock at his words to a laugh that chilled him to his core.
“Sure,” he growled, the word harsh and biting as he turned.
Wyatt reached out, catching hold of the coat. “Robert, please. Nothing I can say can put this right, but we’re both here now. What were you talking about earlier? Something that needed to be done.”
He watched the man he’d once been close with close his eyes, a low snarl escaped him that was so very, very different than the Robert he’d known. He turned back though, his eyes flashing briefly red. “You wanna see what’s happening here? Keep up.”
Wyatt hesitated only a beat before following Robert’s quick and determined pace through the collection of… homes? He wasn’t sure, but he did see pairs of red eyes watching him as they moved, hell’s own brand marking the scattered faces. He kept up with Robert until they made it to a circle and he saw those faces had followed them to the opening where a fire was building in the middle, a man chained there. He looked terrified and Wyatt looked to Robert for some sort of clarification as to what was happening.
“Don’t interfere,” was the only warning the naturally dark haired man growled as he took center stage.
The man chained near the fire started to whimper loudly. “I didn’t have a choice, boss! Bulshar, he made me-”
Robert flashed forward with an unnatural speed, snapping the nearly weeping man up by the hair on top of his head and hauling him till he was standing. “You’re not doing yourself any favours, Carl, calling that name out here. You think he’s going to save you? Protect you? No. You’re expendable. That’s why he sent you in. I would have protected you, but you turned. I told you what would happen, didn’t I? I warned you.”
“Bobo, please,” the Revenant - Carl - begged, but there was no mercy in those blue eyes.
“I warned you,” Robert answered icily and straightened, eyeing the others. “Take this as yours. Clootie will be put into the ground permanently. He can’t and won’t save you. Not from me.”
Wyatt watched as Robert reached down, unhooking part of the chain and the other Revenants murmured. “What will he do to him?” he asked the one closest to him and the demon blinked.
“Bobo warned us that if any switched to Clootie’s side he’d haul ‘im over the line himself.”
“The line?”
“For the Triangle. Outside.”
Then it clicked. They were stuck inside of it. “But he can’t leave. None of you can.”
“Without hell on earth, yeah.”
That’s why they’d asked if Wyatt was going to do it. He wasn’t a Revenant. He wasn’t bound to the Triangle like they were. “Won’t that do the same to Ro- to Bobo?”
The Revenant shrugged. “Sure, but ain’t nobody gonna cross him again. Not being willing to go that far.”
Don’t interfere. Now he understood, more than he might have been able to before. It had been nearly a century since Wyatt had passed away and the curse had truly begun. Robert hadn’t had a choice in what happened, but there he was still fighting the fight. It was terrible and it was ugly, and it was impossible for someone to come out of that whole. The fact that he’d retained his loyalty in any shape at all spoke volumes. It was…. so very Robert, despite the changes.
The screams sounded in the distance they crossed the boundary. Wyatt could see the way the smoke was rising from both Revenants, but Robert remained stoic, fastening the chain and bending to speak directly in the prisoner’s ear before starting back for the line.
No one moved to help him and somehow he was still on his feet. He swayed very slightly as he crossed back over, but kept right on going without a word, the screams of the one he’d left on the other side echoing. The other Revenants began to disperse, the show over, and Robert stalked in what looked like a particular direction.
Wyatt followed him to one of the tin homes that were scattered. “Robert?” he called softly.
“You wanna talk it’ll need to be in here,” Robert grumbled and Wyatt barely caught the door before it swung closed in his face.
He stepped in and home was a very loose interpretation of the sparsely decorated space. If he lived there, it didn’t look like he stayed there often. Robert moved to a cushioned bench and all but collapsed into it, his arm wrapped around his middle and his face screwed up in pain. “Shut the door and lock it,” he managed and after a moment of looking Wyatt found the latch to do so. When he looked back over he saw Robert struggling out of his coat, patches of skin showing to be red and angry once his arms were free of it. He grunted as he pull something wrong.
“Hey, take it easy,” Wyatt murmured, moving to help him, but he found himself startled to a stop as a snarl left his old friend, blue eyes shifting to red and the skin around it darkening. Interesting. No brand showed on his face like the others.
“What do you want, Wyatt?”
The response died in the other man’s throat. He wanted to help him, yes, but that really didn’t matter in the grand scheme of things. He had done this. This was his fault, and that realization was becoming more real with each passing second.
Robert grimaced and leaned back. “Can’t you save whatever judgement you have to deal out until I’ve healed?”
Wyatt cleared his throat. “I have… no room to judge you, Robert. I think you and I both know that. You wouldn't….” He paused, not accustomed to being at a loss for words. Best just to be honest. “I did this.”
Blue eyes blinked, pained expression giving way to confusion. He sat up a little straighter and he turned his attention briefly to the marks on his arms before long fingers started working at his shirt, pulling it up to inspect what was being hidden by it. Angry, red burns that looked like they went a lot deeper than any burn should - almost like he’d been burned from the inside out - stretched across his torso. They ran below and all along his ribs and up above where his shirt still covered them, some lighter marks appear above his collar line. “I told you to take the shot,” he said after a long moment, his voice still gruff, but much less defensive than it had been before.
“You didn’t know what would happen.”
There was a sigh and he reached up to massage the bridge of his nose, a habit that even Wyatt knew. “Neither did you.”
Wyatt set his jaw. “Don’t you hate me for it?”
“Oh yes,” Robert drawled out.
Well, that stung more than he’d expected.
The Revenant loosed a long breath and eased the shirt back down, finally meeting his eyes. “And no. It's….” He shook his head.
“Complicated,” Wyatt murmured.
“Yeah.” He reached up and ran his hand along the strip of hair on top of his head, flattening it down a little. “I didn’t mind dying for you, Wyatt. I was ready to ride to hell and back if that’s what you needed, and I have. I…” He closer his eyes. “Just woulda been nice if I’d meant as much to you too.”
He felt abandoned. That’s what this was. “Every letter you wrote back said you were doing better.” The argument felt hollow even to him.
Robert snorted. “I lied.”
“Obviously.”
“What was I supposed to say, Wyatt? Come sit with me as I die? By the time I’d pushed it too far…. It was too late all the way around.”
There was a beat of silence between them and Wyatt took a seat across from his newly injured friend, their eyes meeting. “I am sorry. I’d have come back if I’d known. I never meant for you to be alone.”
“You always did love John Henry,” Robert murmured and he sounded like he was echoing the words from someone else.
“And you,” Wyatt promised softly. “You were my dear friend, Robert. For me, that hasn’t changed.”
“I’m a demon.”
“You’re Robert Svane.” Blue eyes flickered up and Wyatt sighed. “I ain’t saying you’re the same as you were then, but that doesn’t change your core. You’re a good man, Robert, always have been.”
Robert gave a mirthless chuckle. “Death made you delusional.”
“And it made you a bit more of an asshole than I remember,” Wyatt answered with a smirk of his own. “Lost that damnably polite tone of yours along the way, didn’t you?”
His old friend’s expression eased just a little. “First thing to go.” He shifted, the amusement fading. “We should head back into town.”
Wyatt nodded and stood, offering Robert a hand up. He saw the way that he looked at it funny for just a moment, like he wasn’t sure if he should take it or not. “You deserved better than all of this. So much better.”
“Yeah,” he said roughly, finally accepting the hand and letting Wyatt help pull him up to his feet. “But now we’re gonna give Clootie exactly what he deserves.”

Misfits. Partners. Family.
Wynonna Earp / Wayhaught Fanfic.
There’s a serial killer on the prowl in Purgatory... And a tall, attractive red-head is joining to team to help find him...
If a person was asked to point to Purgatory on a map, chances are, they'd have no idea the place even existed. It does. It was the final town that Wyatt Earp called his home. It's small, a little crazy, but it's definitely real. And so are the people in it. A few are just beginning to trickle into their day jobs.
Wynonna Earp. Criminal profiler, damn good one, but a genuine "don't give a fuck" attitude if there ever was one. Woman let glares and pointed glances roll off her dusty leather jacket like oil, always piercing back with a blue-eyed glare of her own and a middle finger. Whiskey in donuts were usually in tow. And a funny, dirty, (or both) quip right behind. Not much got to this woman. When it did, she was quick to find some kind of alcohol to make herself forget it.
Xavier Dolls. Never was there a man more dedicated to finding the truth of a matter, Purgatory’s finest homicide detective. And never was there a man who felt it was his sole purpose in life to remain completely emotionless. At least, that's what Wynonna said about him. But, in truth, the man was a fiercely dedicated detective, and friend. He rarely let his emotions show, even in a small smile. But if anyone laid a hand on his "family", he'd kill them without a second thought.
Waverly Earp. A ray of sunshine wrapped in small human form. The smartest person in the entire town, and everyone knew it. While she was the town sweetheart, she was a bit of a conundrum to quite a few. Her knowledge in trending shoes and nail polish was only rivaled by her knowledge of science, language and history. She knew more languages than most knew single words. And she was damn proud of it. She always felt she had something to prove, and her more than impressive IQ made her feel like she'd done just that. Her official title was forensic anthropologist, though she'd studied many other areas in forensic science.
And so these three misfits, yet partners and family, trudged through the hallways of Purgatory's Police Department, again, to gather for important news from Dolls. As soon as they'd plopped in chairs around a table, they awaited his speech.
“Another woman's gone missing. Jennifer Burk. This is the fourth woman in the last month, I think it's correct to assume we have a serial killer on our hands, especially considering how we've found the others. Let's find her before she ends up like them.” Dolls tossed folders onto the table for each of the Earp sisters, all of the information on the woman inside.
“Lemme guess, no connections with the other victims other than the fact that she's a woman? I think it's also safe to assume some lady offended this guy, and now he hates them all… Yeah, well, we hate you too, buddy.” Wynonna Earp had a way of getting into their perp’s mind.
“Alright, so I told you I was thinking about bringing in someone else. We need more hands. And a friend just moved into town, I trained her when I was still teaching. She's one of the best. She'll be here any minute.”
“Wait, friend? You have friends?” Waverly looked up from her folder questioningly at Dolls, quite genuinely confused at the prospect of the man having real friends.
“No, we're his only friends. Hey did you ever find the meaning of that symbol carved into the 3rd vic?” Wynonna countered.
“Um, yes! I'll be right back.” As Waverly walked to the back of the room, scouring a bookshelf, there was a knock on the door. Dolls opened it and let in a tall, red headed woman. “Wynonna Earp, this is Detective Nicole Haught. She just moved here and she'll be working with us.”
“Put ‘er there.” Wynonna slapped her hand in the other woman's. “Haught, huh? That's gunna be fun…” “Nice to meet you, too.” Nicole replied, an unsure look on her face. Just then Waverly returned to the table with a stack of books, staring intently into one of them. “Okay, so the reason it took me so long to figure out the symbol was because it's actually not one, it's two different symbols-“ “Babygirl.” Wynonna interrupted Waverly, motioned her head at the newest person in the office when her sister looked up from her books.
“Oh! Oh my god, I'm so sorry, I just, when I start talking about symbols, there's no stopping me!” Nicole Haught watched as Waverly Earp babbled about symbols, a giant grin on her face, eyes scrunched into a crescent moon shape from the size of her smile, and she was certain she was looking at the most beautiful, fascinating person she'd ever know.
“That's alright! Nicole, Nicole Haught. Nice to meet you, Waverly, right?” She stuck her hand out to shake the smaller woman's. “Oh, God! Yes! Agh, sorry, I'm all over the place. Yes, Waverly Earp.” “Pleasure to meet you, Waverly.”
She took the tall detective’s hand in her own, and a strange feeling rippled trough her hand, up her arm, into her heart. This stranger’s hand felt good in her own, in fact, amazing. Not just physically, but something else Waverly couldn't quite put her finger on. The loss of knowledge was troublesome to her, so she brushed the feeling aside.
“Um, I'm sorry detective-“ “Please, Nicole.” The red head smiled back at Waverly. “Right, Nicole. So I was just about to tell them the meaning of a symbol that was carved on one of the women. Weird invitation, but, you might want to hear this.” "No, you're right. I do. Please, continue!" Nicole took an empty seat. Waverly opened a couple of books she had brought to the table.
"So, this the first woman that's he's marked like this. I don't know why, Wynonna, you'll have to figure that one out. It took me a little longer than usual to figure this out, because it's actually two symbols. And, they're from entirely separate cultures. This one," Waverly drew a stick figure like drawing, "is the wiccan symbol for mother. And this one," she drew another picture, this time two arrows, one on top of the other, pointing in different directions, "is a Native American symbol. It means war. He carved one on top of the other."
"Sounds like he's declaring war to me," Nicole offered. A twisted look on her face, Wynonna was leaning back in her chair, right leg crossed in a manly fashion over the left. She suddenly stood up, went to the magnetic whiteboard with photos and evidence all over, and pulled a rather grotesque picture down. She plopped down on her seat, compared the photo with the drawings. All sat in silence, waiting for her input. She was the one who let the demons into her brain, who got into theirs'. She was the one who somehow found motive in nonsensical madness.
"It doesn't make sense..." She muttered, after a few moments of silence. No response. "This-" She pointed to the photo she'd taken down, mangled limbs and body parts, contorted, posed, to look like a modern day art sculpture, "This is like a demonic tapestry from a fucking art show. It's... specific, intentional. It's there because he wants everyone to see what he can do. But this-" she pointed to the symbols, "it's messy, it has nothing to do with art, or abilities. He is declaring war." She looked over at Nicole. "But those two motives... they don't go together. Not here, not like this.”
Leaning back in his chair, releasing a deep sigh, Dolls spoke, "so what does this mean for us?"
"One of two things. Either we have two perps with crazy different agendas, or one with... crazy voices in his head..." Wynonna responded, eyes still darting back and forth between the pictures.
"If you had to guess make an educated guess, which one do you think it is?" Nicole posed, leaning forward on her elbows.
Wynonna gave her tight-lipped face, "That is my educated guess, newbie."
"Earp!" Dolls reprimanded the elder of the Earp sisters.
Wynonna raised her hands in self-defense mode, "Fine! If I had to choose one... I mean I don't think an "artistic" serial killer would let anyone help them, let alone make their own mark on the body. But the two agendas... I can't reconcile them unless he's hearing voices. Oh, and the mother symbol, definitely confirms my theory that this is a momma issue. Another thing- why wait until now to start carving symbols that basically declare war? It's like the agendas in his head are at war with each other…"
Curious, Nicole spoke, "What else is there to the mother theory?" Waverly chimed in, "Well, none of the women have been raped, or shown any signs of sexual assault, but all of them have had their reproductive organs completely removed." "Dude. Did you not read any of this before you came in here?" Wynonna asked Nicole witheringly. "EARP." Dolls interrupted before Nicole had a chance to answer. "I called her in here before she had the chance, so no, she didn't. As soon as I found out about vic number 4, I called you all in. Now lay off Detective Haught, got it?" Wynonna glared at Dolls before giving an answer. "Fine. But she's on the donut rotation." With that, she picked up the photos and went to her office, soon followed by Dolls heading to his own.
Waverly and Nicole sat in silence, both aware of the tense feeling in the air. Waverly's heart was pounding, and she had no idea why. Nicole's heart was pounding as well, but she knew exactly why, and had a better idea of how to keep calm in front of a beautiful woman. She tried to start casual conversation. "Um, what's the donut rotation?" Nicole looked confusedly at Waverly, who rolled her eyes at her sister's words. "The station always has donuts, but they never have powdered ones. Wynonna made a schedule for us to bring powdered donuts. So, congratulations, I guess? You're on the powdered donut schedule."
"Ooo-kay. So when do I need to bring these donuts?" "Oh, she'll let know. Actually, she'll probably be back in a couple minutes with a little printed schedule for you." Waverly answered casually, turning to place books back on the bookshelf. "Can I ask you question?" Nicole ventured. "Yeah, sure!" "So, is she always that..." The older woman was searching for the right word. "Bitchy? Eh. She's frustrated right now, this perp is in her brain. She gets that way, with the really bad ones. I don't blame her..." "No, you're right. It's a hard job. Getting inside a killer’s brain. Takes a lot of empathy. Dolls said she's good at it.”
Just then, Wynonna strode back into the room, powdered donut in one hard, freshly printed paper in the other. She slapped it down in front of Nicole. “Haught-sauce.” Nicole was slightly impressed, usually people waited to get to know her before throwing out the puns. “Donut schedule. You miss a day, you buy ‘em for a week. Wave,” she pointed to her sister, “your turn to get Wills. Gus has that appointment, remember?” Waverly glanced at her watch. “Yeah, I'll leave in like, 10 minutes.” It wasn't any of her business, and she knew it, but she still wanted to ask. As soon as Wynonna left the room, Nicole turned back to Waverly. “Who's Wills?”
“Oh, our nephew. William.” She pulled out her phone and showed Nicole a photo of a young boy. Handsome, hazel crescent-moon eyes, brunette hair, looked a lot like Waverly. Nicole could tell by the fact that she hadn't offered any more information than the simple fact that he was her nephew that she shouldn't ask too personal questions about him. “He's adorable. How old?” Waverly groaned. “Ugh, right? He's 4. I can never say no. I swear he'll be the death of me. And Wynonna. Pretty sure he is her only soft side. Well, I'm going to clean up my things, and I gotta head out. I'll see you tomorrow!”
Nicole was certain that Waverly was handling this much better than she was at this point. Her stomach was in a million knots. “Right, lookin forward to workin with you, Waverly Earp.” And she threw the smaller woman an enormous dimpled grin that threw her completely off guard, and she still couldn't figure out why. No, Waverly was not handling this any better.

Wynonna Earp 1x05 Digging Up Bones
Spoilers disclaimer (please read before sending messages or writing comments.)
Stray thoughts
1) Does Wynonna have prophetic dreams like Buffy? I mean, she’s obviously haunted by her dad’s and sister’s deaths, but I can’t help but think there must be some underlying meaning to her nightmares…
2) #same
Tumblr media
And something about the camera angle and the lighting gives this scene a dream-like quality? Is she still dreaming?
3) Ugh this dude is still there?
Tumblr media
Well, I guess not any more…
Tumblr media
4) 😊
Tumblr media
I love how distracted Wynonna is by looking at Dolls because, let’s be real, who wouldn’t?
5) I’m guessing Wynonna has some kind of history with this judge guy.
6) What do you know, Purgatory is as corrupted as Sunnydale or Neptune. But at least Dolls knows how to play the game.
7) See? They are a Scooby Gang!
DOLLS: Waverly will stake the place out during the raid and photograph anyone she sees. Doc will come down, see if he recognizes anyone - from the old days.
8)
WYNONNA: Aw, there's a little rebel in there.
DOLLS: Not that little.
Tumblr media
9) The creepy-crawler dude has it out for Doc, but like, Doc only did what Bobo ordered him to?
10) I feel Wynonna not playing by the rules is going to be both her saving grace and her downfall in this journey. For instance, she pushed the situation at the trailer park until she got what she wanted – she got Bobo arrested. But Bobo saw Waverly taking pictures, and we know Bobo has a special place in his heart for Waverly…
11) I agree with Dolls, though. Wynonna will have to learn when to play by the rules and when to break them. She needs to learn to walk that thin line because if she doesn’t, it could backfire.
12) Holy shit, this scene!
Tumblr media
My heart was thumping during their whole exchange, it was so tense and scary. For the first time, I was legit terrified of Bobo and what he could do. I mean, I don’t think there was much he could do (although I suspect he could’ve broken free if he’d wanted to, he was probably just being smart and trying to play nice.) But just the way he stared at Waverly and talked to her and pointed at her? CHILLS.
And this?
WAVERLY: Why, when I was little, did you choose me to manipulate? Huh? Because I was gullible? Weak?
BOBO: Weak is something you've never been. I chose you because you were angry.
WAVERLY: I wasn't angry.
BOBO: You sure?
WAVERLY: I'm not, OK?
BOBO: You've got depths that neither of us know the bottom of yet. Trust me.
What will be these depths Bobo is talking about?
13) WHAT THE FUCK!!! HOW DID HE DO THAT!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Like, he couldn’t use it, but damn if he didn’t prove a point! And what type of superpowers does he have? And WHY? What makes him more special than the rest of the revenants? Is it the fact that he knows the name of the Stone Witch?
14)  Miss Stone? Is she the Stone Witch????
Tumblr media
15) Wynonna just got kidnapped by a revenant and guess which is the dynamic duo coming to the rescue?
Tumblr media
16) If it wasn’t the judge the one who tipped Bobo off about the raid, then who was it? There were only so many people who knew it was going down, right?
17) So this guy conveniently knows who The Seven are? He even has photographic evidence? And he’s Doc’s bestie, apparently?
Tumblr media
18) Is Bobo being… abused?
Tumblr media
19) She’s definitely the Stone Witch. Constance or Clootie or Miss Stone.
Tumblr media
20) Okay…
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This was some twisted fifty shades of weird stuff. What type of relationship do they have? He’s suggested he has some power because he knows the Stone Witch’s real name, which is why he’s the only one who can leave the Ghost River triangle limits. So I assumed that gave him some power over her, but it seems he’s totally submissive in their relationship? And what did she mean when she said that she could “hear them”? I don’t think she’s talking about the revenants…
21) How did Wynonna not realize that this dude was gay? Like, he was drooling over Doc. Then again, who wouldn’t be? Also, I really love the implications that Doc probably knew about his sexuality and was supportive of him? That’s some progressive shit for the Far West…
22) She keeps staring at his lips as he talks and I’m here for this shit…
Tumblr media
23) “Earps. Always trying to cut filthy little deals whenever it suits them.” Is he talking about Wynonna’s father? And what type of filthy deal did he cut? Will we find out?
24) Oh, this fucking dude is channeling her father’s voice! That’s messed up!
25) This reminded me of Buffy in When She Was Bad…
Tumblr media
26) Creepy Crawler Dude was the photographer! Does this mean that Doc knew who he was when he pushed him over the limits and tied him up? Like, he met up with his old buddy and knew that he’d given his soul mate a death sentence and didn’t say anything?
27) Did this dude really think he’d remind Wynonna of what they’d done to her sister and she’d let him live?
Tumblr media
28) Ha!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It’s science.
Favorite out-of-context line.
29) Hahaha I died! The boobs didn’t work, Doc had to flirt with the ladies!
30) Dolls stopped playing by the rules when the judge insulted Wynonna. And is the judge a fucking child molester? I hope someone gets to cut his dick off.
31) I couldn’t take this scene seriously because of his fucking face hahahaha!
Tumblr media
Did she put a spell on him or something?
32) Okay, Doc didn’t know that Levi was Fish’s partner. That makes me feel better about him chaining him up.
33) Eeewwww he chewed off his foot????
Tumblr media
I thought he’d just cut it off!
And I just realized maybe that was barely any better.
34) Will this give Wynonna a different perspective on revenants?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I mean, how can it not?
I really love this idea that not all revenants are psychopathic criminals, and that some were people who made poor choices in life. It cannot be all black or white, and I think this will probably be one of the toughest lessons Wynonna will have to learn.
She’s gonna kill them and I’m not ready for it.
35) What the fuck is her deal?
Tumblr media
Who are her boys? What is this “lead” she’s promised Bobo? And why is she scared of Doc? It didn’t seem that way when they met earlier…
36) holY FUCJJLASLDJLAD
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I literally spent 5 minutes rewatching that scene… It really caught me off guard, and I was so caught up in what they were talking about because it felt like a defining moment for both of them, you know? Wynonna coming to the realization that she cannot be driven only by revenge, and that she needs to face the fact that not all revenants are demons; Doc defining himself as a monster and embracing his thirst for revenge, even though it seems he’s blaming Constance for a choice he made? And then Doc saying that he and Wynonna are exactly the same… and then… yeah, that was a defining moment for both of them, alright...
Damn, that was hot. I think it’s going on my Epic First Kisses list. Damn. I need to watch that again, excuse me.
I really didn’t expect them to go there this soon into the show? Like, the chemistry between Wynonna and Doc was obviously off the charts, but I thought the writers might want to milk the UST for a while before getting them together? Or maybe they would keep the sexual tension unresolved?
And now I’m freaking out because I fear it might be a one-time thing? Please don’t let it be a one-time thing.
37) Why was Doc in that well, by the way? Did I miss it or hasn’t it been explained yet?
38) Oh shit…
Tumblr media
That’s probably the last picture of the Earp sisters together, isn’t it?
39) OH FUCK
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So it was the fucking child molester the one who tipped off Bobo!!
40) Now that was some an episode alright! The plot advanced A LOT: we saw the face of the Stone Witch and learned a little bit more about her relationship with Bobo – although I still have so many questions! Waverly confronted Bobo and he hinted at her having some powers, we’re learning more about the involvement of the authorities in covering up the revenants and their dirty deeds, Wynonna learned that she cannot be driven by revenge and WYNONNA AND DOC FUCKING KISSED.
Also, I died!
This really felt like a pivotal episode, and I truly can’t wait to see the next one!
41) Hope you enjoyed my recap, and, as usual, if you’ve got this far, thank you for reading! If you enjoy my recaps and my blog, please consider supporting it on ko-fi.Thanks!
