Xiomara already had two pies in the oven after making some other homemade baked goods and leftovers in the microwave from Lucie and River’s dinner dates- she was sure they wouldn’t mind if she saved some of the treats for them later. It wasn’t to say that her baking to this extreme wasn’t due to her stress of what’s to come the next day, but she knew if she had an easy, sweets fueled night with maybe a glass of wine or two and some cheesy trash tv, she would be able to go into the competition tomorrow feeling ready. Her roommates were out for the night and with a quick comment about Sage from her friend Lucie, she realized that maybe it would be a good idea to invite him over. If she was freaking out, he most likely was too. She had sent him a text earlier that evening about coming over if he wanted and hadn’t looked at her phone since so she didn’t know if he was coming by or not. Xiomara couldn’t help but be a little nervous about him coming over given the situation that she put herself in, but she knew that it was a good idea nonetheless, hoping maybe the friendship that grew was still okay outside of the walls of the skating rink. With her apron on and a little flour on her nose she forgot to remove, she was bent over the latest freshly baked pie, putting on some last toppings when she heard a knock on the door. Moving over to the door, she opened it and said a little surprisingly, “Hey!” She smiled at him, but then one look at him she could see something was wrong and her smile faltered a bit. “Everything okay?”

heh, look at his dumb face. I carved 50 scales and turned them into a mini rathalos so I can flaunt my triumph over him to others.

Xiomara had just taken off of work and went immediately to the ice rink at the university where she had booked a time slot for awhile before she had to go in to her other job later that night. To say that she was exhausted was an understatement, but her career goal was expensive and time consuming. It had to be done. No one could ever say that she wasn’t willing to work hard for her dreams, something her family instilled in her since she was young. It just unfortunately wasn’t the dreams that they wanted for her. Walking in, the place was chilly, she threw on her sweater, tied her old skates on and walked over towards the ice. No one else was in the rink besides a few maintenance workers, but she didn’t want to put her music on full blast for everyone to hear. Putting her earbuds in her ears, Xiomara pressed play on her practice playlist before kicking herself off and glided towards the middle.  On the ice, she took her time, remembering what her coach has talked to her about, where her strengths were and her weaknesses. She needed to make sure that her next competition would kill.

Xiomara landed her last spin of the practice she had set up with Sage, sweat slightly beading on her forehead despite the cold arena, and she felt... good. She couldn’t believe that he had actually convinced her to let this happen and she had even told her coach to come and watch their third scheduled practice, hoping that she would agree that this was not at all a right fit for what they wanted to do. Unfortunately, her plan had backfired and it seemed that everything went alright. It wasn’t anything crazy, having to start with the basics for Sage and some basics for Xiomara since she hadn’t ever done skating as a duo. It was almost almost like they were starting off the same. The fact that Sage was already so good on skates and was athletic in his build was an advantage for him and oddly it felt like they were more in sync with each other each time they’re on the ice with one another. It was a strange phenomenon that Xiomara couldn’t deny, but also couldn’t deny liking despite her attitudes at times. Moving towards the stands where her stuff was, she grabbed a water bottle to drink out of it. “Same time tomorrow?” she asked Sage over her shoulder.

Xiomara’s coach had told her that today, the two of them were going to be practicing with lifts and dance and she couldn’t have been more nervous about it. Not only was she nervous seeing Sage after the day before, but this was also completely new territory for her, never having done moves close like that that they would be starting to work on today. She was warming up in the studio, trying to get her mind off of the conversation they had, of the conversation that her and Lucie had about it, and everything in between. Her stomach was feeling a little off from the anxiety as she waited for Sage and just as she heard the door open, her heart had jumped into her throat, like she was afraid to face him. Getting up off of the floor from her stretches, she turned and offered him a small smile. “Guess we’re both going to find out if we’re cut out for this, today,” she said lightly, trying to hide her nerves.
