C - A ship you have never liked and probably never will (be nice) I'm just not a fan of Jack and Ashi. I was super hoping for a mentor/mentee dynamic and not a ship. Do I get why it happened and does it make sense that Jack fell for her? Yeah, but also I'm 100% busy shipping some bots.

D - A pairing you wish you liked but just can’t (again: be nice) For a fandom I'm not in: Soljiwan from Nevertheless. Sorry @nothing-of-a-builder! I wanted to be into it to read your fanfics because I know they're good, but I'm just not feeling it. Hit me up with Kirisaya though! Check out all the fics here (including some Franmouche content that stabs me in the heart every time I read it) For a fandom I am in: Probably Scaramouche and Demongo. I love Scaramouche and I'll take whatever fanart/fanfics exist of him with whoever, but this just isn't my ship.

Maybe it's sort of cheating by assuming people think I like him a lot more than I do. I don't really care for him and he's annoying and definitely didn't enjoy listening to him in Maverick Hunter X BUT I love what he represents, and that's not being on either side, which was especially well done in Maverick Hunter X. It's funny because I did cosplay as him and it's one of my better costumes, but it's honestly because I went to a foam armor making class for beginners and we made a helmet that suited him so perfectly. I don't think he would have been an option otherwise. Long story short, I like Vile as a concept, not a character.

Q - A ship you’ve abandoned and why Sorry, calling out Scaramouche and Demongo again (which I want to say the ship name for is Fandango, not to be confused with the OC character Fandango XD). I wrote a fanfic for it (and also, sorry everyone, 'tis my least favorite fic I wrote with Scaramouche) and consumed all the content, but after I was blessed/cursed with Franmouche, that was it. This is the ship!

I will say I love writing Francis as a demiromantic, sex-neutral ace. Love seeing him other ways, too, but this is the primary way I write him.

speaking of things in yugioh that would be way worse if not for one specific detail, here’s one i’ve been turning over in my head: where would everyone be if yugi didn’t exist?

jonouchi’s character development wouldn’t have gotten kickstarted, so he’d probably just get worse and worse. more violent, more pervy, more creepy, just generally more unhinged.

honda would as well, but he turns out to be probably the most sane of the mains in canon so i imagine at some point he’d start thinking jou’s crossing lines he shouldn’t. whatever friendship they have would fray at the edges.

anzu…i’m not entirely sure because we don’t really see what her life was like before meeting yugi, but (despite her reputation for friendship speeches) she can be violently confrontational and she doesn’t tend to reach out to people the way yugi does, so i like to think she’d be more closed off.

bakura, the new guy who’s quiet and looks feminine and attracts girls and avoids people when possible and is sometimes seen wearing a big pretty shiny necklace, would almost certainly be targeted by jonouchi and honda for bullying, with fatal and/or trapped-in-a-figurine results.

because of the above, nobody’s able to get the money for shizuka’s surgery in time, so she goes permanently blind. she may or may not also hear of her brother’s disappearance and/or death, as well as his behavior leading up to that point, which. definitely would not help her emotional state.

if sugoroku’s still around and has the puzzle, dadtogi would still raise ryuji for revenge purposes, get his grubby mitts on the puzzle, and either spend the next several years trying to solve it, or force his son to spend the next several years solving it. either they’ll be driven insane, or the puzzle will get annoyed and char them both to a crisp. maybe both. (assuming yami bakura doesn’t nab it first of course, though maybe he’d let them mess with one of the items to watch it kill them)

seto would at least avoid the trauma of two mind crushes and a coma, but he’d probably also never make any headway in recovering from his stepdad’s abuse. mokuba would continue being a vile little gremlin in a bid to impress his brother and never figure out why it’s not working.

marik would still have his trauma, presumably his resulting split personality, and, assuming shadi still does his thing of saying exactly the wrong thing to traumatized children, still develops a grudge against a guy who wasn’t directly involved, only now he’ll never have the chance to target that guy. who knows how that’ll end up; almost certainly nothing good.

there’s. probably way more. definitely way more. but i don’t feel like typing it all out so add to this if you wanna i guess.

EDIT: oh yeah also yami bakura’s biggest obstacle in his goals wouldn’t be there so he might very well succeed in fucking the whole world’s shit up. hooray.

I wanna go back to the yugiohbis mot dieing conversation

No, I have not changed my mind on the subject. however, I do wanna list some reasons why people think that

1. Accessibility ... between the cost for a meta deck, the time of rounds, and how competitive the game has become very hard for new players to start even goes as far as makinging it hard for disabled people to play

2. Secondary market catering .

Yes, I understand supply and demand. Yes, I understand all hobbies cost money. Yes, I understand trends changing how ever limi5ed only a few playable cards per set abd linitingcthe supply so bad you have to get a case to get a key card for a deck is getting very bad and making it hard for stores to sell packs and boxes

We used to have a lot of reprints to help with those issues, but now it's just the tins and between making some decks all high rarity in it and limiting reprints of decks everyone wants the tins are not as good as they use to be 2022 and 2023 have so many good cards that require buying cases to get that as the budget solution we hoped for is no longer in budget

While the once per case rarity can ve good fir collectors well making them cards we desperately need a reprint of is more of a insult than honor

Most of yugioh players are adults with kids so being able to pay fir cases of every dexk is very hard

The secondary market gets cases at a discount due to just ordering them directly and ripping the boxes and cases apart and selling the singles

So do I buy a box for 80 and get nothing I am looking for, or do I buy the single for 30 and get what I want ... that is the issue

because they want to make vendors happy they screwed the average player

3. It's no longer just 3 card games

We have the big 3 yes, but every month, a new card game comes out with battle spirit saga and diseny new card game. Konami has 2 very big threats to yugioh battle spirits. It has been a very big seller in Japan for years, and diseny has fans that will buy anything as long as it has diseny on it

Shops only have so much room, so they have to sell what sells with yugioh boxes being almost a useless buy shops have to look at what sells

4. The world's was horrible very horrible

No, not that tcg won, but my locals had more of a yugioh look than they did

Paper mats , no decoration , just a table and char not even a voice actors duel

We spent all this time fighting fron locals to regional to ycs to nationals with it all looking like yugioh to ending in abandoned looking building with a duel table

Yeah, I don't think yugioh is dying again. This happens every time a new card game comes out, but I can see why people think that
