Hi! I was really interested in the Abigail and Will fishing post, especially when you said that Abigail doesn’t really like Will/is indifferent to him. I’ve seen a lot of the fandom characterizes Abigail as being someone who loves her fathers, so it was surprising to see you talk about how distant the two really are. Do you think this would have changed if Will had run off with Hannibal and Abigail or would there have always been that divide between them?

abigail’s viewpoint of will is not the viewpoint will has of abigail. he is a constant reminder of the death of the family, the reason she is an orphan. she calls him “stained”, stained because of that day. in the script alana mentioned taking abigail to the same cliff for her mothers birthday that she mentioned to will on the plane, abigail said she would go with alana but implied she wouldn’t go with will or at least if she went with him it wouldn’t be the same.

the best moments abigail and will have together are inside will’s head, they rarely have moments just the two of them without someone (normally hannibal) as a buffer. the last time she saw him before mizumono he terrified her in the same cabin her father terrified her in. she told hannibal in the season three flashback that he isn’t her father, if she can’t even call hannibal her father there is no way she would call will her father. 

if hannibal did not interfere with will getting close to abigail (he used abigail to keep will close while also keeping her away from him) they could have grown past what happened that day in her kitchen. and yes it would have changed if they actually left during mizumono like they were supposed to, over time she would definitely become closer to him. but i do believe that even if she got to the point she could call him ‘dad’ she would still see him shooting her father behind her eyelids while saying so.
