Writing ask!
1. What font do you write in? Do you actually care or is that just the default setting?
7. What is your deepest joy about writing?
8. If you had to write an entire story without either action or dialogue, which would you choose and how would it go?
17. Talk to me about some minutiae of your current WIP. Tell me about the lore, the history, the detail, something/s that won’t make it in the text.

1) severely depends.
If we're writing on wattpad or notion, we use verdana or serif. If we're writing on libre office, then we haven't chosen just one yet. We like several different fonts but don't remember any of their names
7) to be able to bring characters to life, and have them touch people in some way. We're yet to really see this happen but people enjoy our stories either way, so we don't bother much!
We also enjoy writing poems because... it lets us release everything in a way that we understand and doesn't pressure us to conform to what people expect, you know?
8) without any action. We've actually read a story that's solely dialogue and it inspired us to start writing!
I don't know how it'd go. We've had many ideas for solely dialogue stories but never made them happen. But maybe one day!
17) oooh, thank you oh so much!
We have a short story that we planned on making a saga of books or one full book, but in the end it stressed us out too much. It's called The Gold Curtain, and is an enemies to lovers romance in which two kings from neighboring kingdoms are forced to become close to each other to help their respective images, but a romance starts blooming... oh, the scandal!
It's just a fun, self indulgent story that we're also using to explore trauma, queerness, masculinity and healing. It's mostly romance and comedy, though!
Anyways! There are four kingdoms in this story, and since this was supposed to be a saga, we built lore for all of them! And, well, one of them, Lacusan, is well known for being surrounded by water and focusing its economy on that... so... here's some fun facts about this kingdom specifically that won't make it into the story!
- the main sea that bathes the land is called "Great Lake of the Horizon". Um. The people who first named it hadn't gone very far into the water nor the land and thought it was a lake. Inspired by the lagoon by my house that people thought was a lake. /srs
- "Raised on a boat" is an expression to mean orphan or child of a single parent. Essentially, boats are a main form of transportation in the kingdom and also how most people have jobs. However, centuries prior, they were used as cradles by certain people!
Specially, people who'd found orphaned babies and took them in or single parents who suddenly had a baby in their hands and didn't have any support outside of their house had to quit their jobs until the baby grew up, and since most were unprepared, they used their bow unused boat as a cradle!
This kind of stopped being a thing in a couple of decades but the expression has definitely stayed.
- Children often have their hair braided or put into a bun no matter the gender, because it's customary for people to have long hair in that kingdom. No reason in particular.
- Lacusan has many festivals, including swimming an incredibly large distance while carrying your boat with you and then dragging it to the center of the kingdom by yourself, 1st place is the hottest person in town for a year /j
- "Chopping wood" is an expression for doing nothing or doing a meaningless task. A lot of people use it as an excuse to say they'll do something but actually won't, and also Lacusan has a huge market for wood, specially firewood, so if you don't work with this it's less likely you'll have to do it, yknow?
That's all I can think of for now, uh, feel free to ask more!
