Life Update?
It’s been forever since I posted anything on Tumblr. Life happened, I’m sure all of you know how it is. Life aside, there has been more going on behind the scenes of my existence as a semi-functioning member of society. In addition to my resolve in pursuing higher education seriously, I have started putting some of my time into the family business in my own way.
People around me have always said it's better to keep your hobbies as hobbies and not your work. I thought I understand them then, but now I am becoming more unsure of this advice. Not because I am doing all the things I like as a job and a degree, but because I know I will not lose certain things that I like as a hobby even if I get sick of doing this particular job and degree.
I can proudly say now that I have established a social media account that is representative of my family business and heritage. Our Instagram has around 500 followers which may sound pathetic to many of you. Yet I am happy just for the fact that it exists somewhere on the internet. Not only that, we have a youtube channel and website too! The beginning was a new change for me because this is the first time I will be talking about something that is not my own creative pursuit and interests. At times, it was overwhelming and I admittedly procrastinated on this project sometimes. Fortunately, I have an admin that keeps everything running. Now that it has been present for almost a year, I can safely say that I got the hang of it, kinda.
Aside from the social media work, I completed my A-levels in the midst of the pandemic and enrolled myself in an online undergraduate program. You can say I'm an expert at this online learning thing, like other students around the world. Learning online is not easy, and if you think you can get good marks by only attending your zoom or google meeting classes, you are wrong. Just because the school system is flawed does not mean they are completely wrong you know? I got through my A-levels with the standard online learning methods. 2-4 hours of Zoom classes every other day, Google Documents homework, WhatsApp discussions, Google Forms quizzes, and a lot of Youtube binging before the big test. My A-levels weren't great, objectively, they weren't bad too. I was done and over with that and that's all that mattered to me.
My university, however, is a different kind of online learning. I actually did a short course before it started to feel out the environment. Frankly, I like this method of online learning more than the one that has been implemented by millions of schools around the world.
The short course that I took was about Intercultural Social Relationships so it was pretty light for me since I am a social being (human) and I come from a country that is socially diverse. This course was divided into 10 chapters if I am not mistaken and 2 assignments over the course of 3 months. Ideally, you should spend 2-3 hours daily on readings, discussions, and participation. Truthfully, I did like 5-7 hours a week and I turned out okay. I am not saying you should be like me, because the things I studied there were 40% the same as my English A-levels to some extent so I was kinda chill. Anyways, you get to access this website and you watch 5-10 minutes of introduction on the chapter, read some overviews and read more on the topic provided in there, then you answer quizzes sometimes through that same website and as a means of communication, there are chatrooms built into that website. It was great, I can go back and forth while studying and pick up discussions without feeling like a fool. As an added bonus, I get to read about others' responses and get feedback on my answers. The assignments were pretty different from what I have been doing in previous schools but it was a given, this is an open university course after all. I think I did pretty well, even though I don't really know what I was doing. However, I did procrastinate a lot so I ended up doing the second essay a day before the deadline. Granted, I did a pretty good job and passed the course, but it was a flawed practice lmao.
This post is getting too long so I will tell you all about how my online university works some other time. Hopefully within the next week?

(This is probably as creative as I’ll get when trying to come up with catchy titles for my posts. So anyways ---)
HELLO TUMBLR!
So here's a situation:
Bob is your normal 21st century bloke. Like every other normal 21st century blokes wandering around, Bob is the proud owner of a phone. And through this phone, he can access the biggest treasure trove of information - The Internet. Scrolling through Facebook one day, Bob sees an article shared by one of his friends. His favourite British celebrity, Benadryl Crumplesnitch, has died last week. Bob shares this article, and his fellow Cookiesnatch fans kickstarts one of media's biggest and possibly the most distraught mourning ever.
A week later, Bumblebee Custardbath tweets out: "What's this about me being dead? Last time I checked, all my limbs are still in one piece??"
 Bob, afterwards, is sufficiently embarassed.
What just happened? Aside from Mr. Bumbleshack Crackerjack's ever-changing name, what did happen in that strange order of events?
We could say that our good friend Bob has obviously been the victim of what we call "fake news". Quickly believing the articles detailing the death of Bandicoot Chesterfield, Bob has failed to be literate in both media and information.
"But Ms. Itsagclasstask, what does that even mean?!" you ask me aggressively.
Well, young grasshopper, literacy in media and information simply means being able to effectively gather accurate information through the use of media or any other sources of varying trustworthiness.
"Oh my god," you exclaim, "How can I become exactly that?"
DON'T BE LIKE BOB.
As I'm feeling generous today, here are five ways I swear by to prevent yourself from becoming another one of the Bobs of this world :
Fact check - I cannot stress enough how important this is. One of the things that led to Bob's eventual downfall is that He. Did. Not. Fact check. He simply believed the words handed to him on a silver platter, without consulting other sources about the validity of the information. And speaking of sources..
Make sure you're getting information from a trustworthy source - Bob failed to do such a thing. He failed to consult news websites like CNN, BBC News, etc. Surely, if someone as great and acclaimed as Bandersnatch Cul-de-sac was to meet his doom, the bigger news broadcasting organisations would mourn for weeks! However, Bob's article probably came from some no-name, unknown website. Tsk, tsk.
Ask yourself, "Am I on the right platform"? - The Internet, I've observed, tends to take the form of extremes. Either it's extremely helpful, or extremely UN-helpful. Say that Bob didn't find the article on Facebook, but somewhere with a reputation of not taking things seriously. Somewhere like 9Gag, for example. Would you believe it? Bob certainly would.
Read a lot. Learn a lot. Expand your knowledge. - Alright, stick with me on this one. Wise men say "only fools rush in", thus the best solution to every problem is prevention. If only poor Bob was aware of the existence of fake news and how to spot such things, perhaps he wouldn't have easily believed that one article. Alas, Bob disregarded the sayings of wisemen and rushed in foolishly.
If all else fails, ask the person concerned directly. - If you've gone through all and every solution you could think of, there's one last thing left to do. Go straight to the dudes involved. In Bob's case, he read an article detailing the doubtlessly gruesome death of Beetlejuice Curdlesnoot.
Faced with the same situation, head over to his social medias. Tweet at him. Send him PMs. Pester him. Send him letters. Send his manager letters. And y'know what, send Martin Freeman letters.
Confirm that Bonapart Chucklecheese is well and truly dead before beginning your mourning.
Wishing you all the best,
itsaglasstask

Unplugged: Just how Facebook influence as well as form the modern-day culture
Doubt the efficiency as well as impact of social media sites as well as you'll be indicated the 2011 timeline - from riots to revolution, cyber-bullying to superinjunctions. In retrospect, 2011 was a year of social networking supremacy, the year it ended up being major and started forming the real life.
As long as exactly how good the sweet smelling aroma of social medias remains in the social-political arena, these huge players-- Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, YouTube among others-- do bring a couple of unfavorable effects as well as impacts to the culture as well as its individuals.
For the last HALF A CENTURY, the influences of media have actually expanded significantly with the improvement of modern technology. The human race was first enamored by the creation of the telegraph, then the radio, the numerous print mediums, the innovation of moving photos in a box, as well as now the web. The development of media can be a testimony to that human beings reside in a culture that depends upon the availability of info and communication to keep you from doing your day-to-day activities - work, home entertainment, healthcare, education as well as personal relationships.
There are already numerous countless articles marking all the great stuff that social networks in general bring, along with the role each social media sites titan play in a single person's growth. To maintain the lines from obscuring and overlapping, this post will concentrate on the most significant social media that dominated the 2011 headlines - Facebook.
June 2011, there were talks that individuals were dealing with 'Facebook fatigue' brought by the dropping usership in key markets. Au contraire, by the end of the year, Facebook got to a whooping one trillion web page sights, making its mark in history as the most watched website in the world.
Facebook began as a tiny university stint however has now become completely implanted in contemporary society. Although not every person has an account, many male, woman as well as kid on the street have actually become aware of Facebook.
" Like!".
This declaration has actually become an mistreated colloquial expression when encountering something nice, outstanding, or one you typically approve of. Gone are the apt as well as certain adjectives that fit just what you truly consider it.
" Do you have Facebook?".
Whether it's on the internet or offline, not a single partnership ( charming or platonic) that started nowadays bypassed the just what's- your-Facebook phase. Nevertheless, Facebook can be a venue to really recognize a person - looks, ideas, social circle, or perhaps the person's past.
Like any kind of significant fads, Facebook altered society in a lot of ways. While some of these developments are useful, there are some that drink the structures of social structure. Understanding and understanding these disadvantages can aid mitigate the problems, prevent getting the favorable drowned by the adverse.
Devaluing Relationship.
It's rare to see Facebook profiles with less than 200 buddies these days. Exactly what's typical is running into a individual with greater than a thousand close friends. Having two thousand and even more than five hundred friends, actually? In truth, a individual is fortunate to have about 10 people to classify as buddies, which's even stretching it.
" Exactly how else to call it yet ' good friends'"?
Real, but when simple colleagues, or perhaps unfamiliar people for that issue, are lumped into the category of buddy, as well as the number keeps growing, this can skew how you think others regard you. This is far better called false feeling of appeal.
They could have hundreds of friends on Facebook, but in reality, he or she doesn't also know the first step to making pals, or ways to maintain one.
The Facebook Money.
If you haven't review the memorandum yet, the even more sort you have, the a lot more you're Facebook 'alta sociedad'.
Mister X articles status. Standing gets less than five sorts. Mister X erases blog posts.
Some individuals have actually entirely changed their feeling of self to their Facebook web page, that soiling it with like-less blog post comes off as unimaginable. Nevertheless, you are your Facebook profile, and the video game has changed to who could think of the most fascinating standing.
Incorrect Confidence.
In connection with the manipulated self-perception, Facebook can give you obtained confidence. Actually, this is not just prevalent in this social networks. Bulk of netizens are like Dr. Bennet showing off a Hulk inside them, just difference is that it's not temper causing the improvement but the internet itself.
A totally shy person can be sporting the greatest ego online; the bullied in reality becomes the bully online; a person without any self-confidence is more at home online where she or he could conceal behind privacy.
Partnership Dramatizations.
Relationships are individual and also not for public entertainment. Some pairs have crossed the line where their relationship is for the on the internet gossip creeping plant as well as public consumption. Informing the online globe that your partner cheated on you doesn't make the trouble disappear, or make the gravity of it any kind of lower. Worse, quarreling online (a.k.a warmed exchanged of ferocious comments) does not only render you as public fools, yet you're harming each other more.
As much as there are partnerships that started or developed on Facebook, there are a lot of connections also that get on the rocks, even worse finished, as a result of the social networking website.
Relationship dramatization include cyber-cheating which is equally morally corrupt as physical events.
Professional Dangers.
A solitary Google search could offer your possible company all your digital dust. These employment-killers can be accessed via your comments as well as standing updates. Social media websites, not just Facebook, can expose the side of you that is not lined up with your professional personality. The society today has actually replaced resumés with social media searches. Possible or existing companies keep track of along with evaluate employees and also applicants with their social pages.
The majority of people connect with specialist get in touches with on Facebook. In some cases, innocently posting something without thinking of it could influence or jeopardize your occupation.
Communication Erosion.
Facebook messages, condition updates, chats and also comments have changed group dates with buddies as well as just hanging around, actual telephone call, or conference someone for coffee to get upgraded with each other.
As long as the benefits of immediate communication can not be disregarded, looking the person in the eyes while catching up on the most up to date gossip over a hot cup of tea is still the very best way to get attached.
Life is fascinating, and also some individuals do locate other individuals's life fascinating. All your close friends "like" your status upgrade, and you possibly " such as" a few of them. There are thousands of well-craftily pieced status updates as well as discovered long failed to remember quotes, but absolutely nothing could compare clicking "like" when you obtain a hug from someone, hearing your loved one's voice, or playing in the rain.
Life has a lot of points to figuratively click "like," however a great deal of people preferred to forget just how it is to be unplugged. Associating people, yet as well hectic following your Facebook stream of updates to look up as well as see the real human being resting appropriate next to you.
