Some people should never air their dirty laundry in public
Kia Joorabchian, the Super-Agent infamous for the Carlos Tevez Affair, has blamed Arsenal for his Client Willian’s failure. I can tell you on both hands how many players failed at Arsenal since 2006.
William Gallas (Brought in as part of a Swap Deal with Chelsea along with £5 million Compensation)
Sebastian Squillachi (Brought in 2011 after Arsenal’s 8-2 loss to Manchester United)
Park Chu-Young (Until Willian, was referred to as “The Worst Signing in Arsenal’s recent History”. One of the strangest Transfers Stories in History)
Shokodran Mustafi (A defender signed by Wenger to add stability, quickly dropped following Wenger’s departure)
Henrikh Mkhitaryan (The penultimate Wenger signing, shouldn’t have been in the Premier League in the first place. Signed from Manchester United in exchange for Alexis Sanchez)
Denis Suarez (Loan that joned for £2 million)
David Luiz (Good defender, but didn’t do anything notable during his time apart from pushing the FA the need for Concussion Substitutes, only thing people will remember about his time at Arsenal. Joorabchian player)
Dani Cellabos (First loan spell wasn’t too bad, second loan spell was a failure)
Nicolas Pepe (A Raul Sanhelli signing, currently subject to an investigation whether Joorabchian was involved. Arsenal are having second thouhts over the signing)
Pablo Mari (Originally a loan, signed permamently after concerns that Calum Chambers may never play again. May still be a Joorabchian player)
Cedric Soares (Originally a loan, signed permamently after Chambers was injured. May still be a Joorabchian player)
Runar Alex Runarasson (Signed for £1 million. Dropped as fast as he arrived. May never play for Arsenal again)
Willian (Surpassed the title of “Worst Signing in Arsenal’s Recent History”. Contract Terminated after a year. Last Joorabchian and last Chelsea player signed by Arsenal)
Wenger signings that flopped: 5
Ex-Chelsea players that flopped: 3 (Out of five Arsenal signed since 2006; Petr Cech was signed until 2017, when Emi Martinez was expected to become the team’s new First-Team goalkeper. Yossi Benayoun was signed in 2011 on a season-long loan; in fact, when Benayoun’s loan was ending, Arsenal fans begged the club to sign him)

Arsenal vs Manchester City prediction: Arsenal line-up
Arsenal welcome Manchester City to the Emirates Stadium in what looks a cracking Premier League contest on Sunday.
Despite beating West Ham on Monday evening and securing Europa League qualification with a 2-2 draw against Standard Liege in Belgium on Thursday, the Gunners have been far from convincing during Freddie Ljungberg’s brief reign as interim boss.
The home side will have to be at their very best to beat Manchester City, who trail runaway leaders Liverpool by a massive 14 points after the 2-1 defeat in the Manchester derby last weekend.
Team News
Kieran Tierney is expected to be absent for a long period after dislocating his shoulder, while Granit Xhaka is also out because of concussion. Hector Bellerin withdrew from the side to face West Ham because of a tight hamstring in the warm-up but he could be back on Sunday.
Tumblr media
Arsenal have struggled this season (Getty Images)
Nicolas Pepe missed the Standard Liege game with a bruised knee but is expected to be fit for the City game.
Probable Arsenal XI
Formation: 4-2-3-1
Bernd Leno (GK)
The German has been one of the shining lights in an otherwise disappointing campaign for Arsenal. He’ll keep his place in goal.
Hector Bellerin (RB)
Bellerin has to be at the top of his game to keep the in-form Sterling at bay.
Tumblr media
Arsenal defender Calum Chambers barks orders to his teammates. (Getty Images)
Calum Chambers (CB)
Chambers was decent against West Ham at the London Stadium and should keep his place in defence.
Sokratis Papastathopoulos (CB)
The Greek was withdrawn in the second half against Standard Liege in what was a tactical switch but he is expected to be on the team sheet against Man City.
Sead Kolasinac (LB)
Kolasinac had a good game against West Ham and will be raring to make a mark on Sunday as well.
Lucas Torreira (CM)
The Uruguayan was rested against Standard Liege but he is expected to start the Premier League fixture on Sunday.
Tumblr media
Granit Xhaka has been ruled out due to concussion (Getty Images)
Matteo Guendouzi (CM)
Granit Xhaka is ruled out and hence, the young Guendouzi should start this game. He has been brilliant this season and would be hoping to continue his good form.
Gabriel Martinelli (LW)
Scored a really good goal in the victory over West Ham and made an impact off the bench against Standard Liege. Martinelli is expected to start on Sunday.
Mesut Ozil (CAM)
Ozil has been a fixture in Ljungberg’s XI and should be crucial for the Gunners in opening up City’s defence at the weekend.
Tumblr media
Arsenal winger Nicolas Pepe in action. (Getty Images)
Nicolas Pepe (RW)
Scored a sumptuous goal in the 3-1 victory over West Ham and will be raring to build on it against Pep Guardiola’s side.

Today’s Football Match Prediction: Manchester United vs Arsenal
Tumblr media
For all the fantasy football geeks out there, we share prediction tips of league matches that will give them a better shot at predicting and winning. Starting with EPL 2019.
Under-pressure, Manchester United host Arsenal in their league game. Just 8 points from 6 games have left them at 8th spot in the table and with injuries to several stars the Red Devils find themselves on the backfoot. However, Utd have featured well under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer when under pressure.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are riding high with 3 wins and just a solitary loss, that too against Liverpool, in their first 6 games. However, their struggle away from home is not hidden from anyone. They were held by Watford in their last away league game.
Squads and Predicted Lineups:
Manchester United
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has said ahead of their game against Arsenal that he never expected his reign as the Manchester United boss to be easy and his record at the club justifies his words. He has the worst win percentage among the managers who took over at Manchester United since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson. He has a success rate of just 51 pc- 19 wins in 37 games.
Despite returning against Rochdale in midweek, Paul Pogba is a doubt for the game with an ankle issue. Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford are expected to join Eric Bailly and Diogo Dalot on the sidelines, leaving Solskjaer with little choice but to start 17 years old Mason Greenwood. Greenwood has scored in each of his last two appearances for the club.
Juan Mata and Jesse Lingard are in competition for a starting berth on Monday night, while Luke Shaw returned to training on Friday and could make the matchday squad.
Solskjaer is expected to tweak the formation a bit to adjust to the injury issues. He is likely to use 4-3-3.
Predicted line-up: David de Gea; Ashley Young, Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof, Aaron Wan-Bissaka; Scott McTominay, Nemanja Matic, Andreas Pereira; Daniel James, Mason Greenwood, Juan Mata.
Arsenal
Newly appointed captain Granit Xhaka is expected to start for the Gunners while Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will look to add to his tally of 6 league goals this EPL 2019 as Arsenal look to break free in the race to top 4 early in the season.
Kieran Tierney returned from injury to make his Arsenal debut in the Carabao Cup game in the midweek but may have to wait for Premier League debut. Hector Bellerin also returned from a long-time injury. However, he has been ruled out of the game. Meanwhile, Rob Holding is also unlikely to face.
Bukayo Saka and Reiss Nelson are in competition for a starting berth on the left wing with Alexandre Lacazette still unavailable.
Unai Emery is expected to stick to the 4-2-3-1 formation he used against Aston Villa last week.
Predicted line-up: Bernd Leno; Calum Chambers, Sokratis, David Luiz, Sead Kolasinac; Matteo Guendouzi, Granit Xhaka; Pepe, Dani Ceballos, Reiss Nelson; Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
 Predictions:
1.      There have been over 2.5 goals scored in Arsenal’s last 5 English Premier League games. However, there have been under 2.5 goals scored in 8 of Manchester United’s last 10 EPL games. However, given the defensive fragility of both the teams, expect a goal-fest.
2.      Arsenal have conceded at least 2 goals in their last 4 Premier League matches while they have scored at least 2 goals in their last 3 PL matches.
3.      Manchester United are unbeaten in their last 12 PL games against Arsenal at Old Trafford – a run stretching 13 years. However, United’s defensive woes and the absence of attackers may give them the chance to finally break the streak.
4.      Penalties have been awarded in Arsenal’s last 4 PL games and could become just the 6th side to see a penalty awarded in 5 consecutive games. Manchester Utd have won most penalties – 5- this season while Arsenal have conceded the most – 3. With defenders prone to mistakes in both sides and strikers with pace, don’t be surprised if the referee points to the spot.
5.      Jesse Lingard has scored four goals for United against Arsenal in all competitions, more than he has against any other side.
6.      Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has scored 13 goals in his last 13 Premier League starts, and his tally of six strikes is the most by an Arsenal player in the first six matches of the season since Emmanuel Adebayor in 2007/08 (also six). United have managed just 2 clean sheets so far and Auba may very well add another goal to both the columns.

Man Utd 1-0 Arsenal LIVE: Score, Scott McTominay breaks the deadlock before the break | Football | Sport
MANCHESTER UNITED 1-0 ARSENAL | MCTOMINAY (44)
Manchester United XI: De Gea, Tuanzebe, Maguire, Lindelof, Young, McTominay, Pogba, Lingard, Pereira, James, Rashford
Arsenal XI: Leno, Chambers, Sokratis, Luiz, Kolasinac, Xhaka, Guendouzi, Torreira, Pepe, Aubameyang, Saka
Paul Pogba and Marcus Rashford are surprise inclusions in the Manchester United XI
Lucas Torreira and Calum Chambers come in for Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Dani Ceballos
Scott McTominay opens the scoring with thunderous strike from outside the box
MANCHESTER UNITED 1-0 ARSENAL
52: Corner to Arsenal… which is completely wasted. It’s played short and David de Gea strolls off his line to pluck it out of the sky. Lucas Torreira then decides to go it alone but shows too much of it to Paul Pogba. Cleared.
Chance! Aubameyang has space to drive into and crosses for Torreira, who can’t adjust his body and connect with a half-volley. Difficult chance for a midfielder – had it been the other way around – it could be 1-1 at Old Trafford.
Man Utd vs Arsenal LIVE: Premier League score, goals and updates (Image: GETTY)
49: The Red Devils are controlling the ball nicely since the resumption. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have had virtually all the ball with Arsenal defending patiently.
Tumblr media
Man Utd vs Arsenal LIVE: Premier League score, goals and updates (Image: GETTY)
47: Arsenal haven’t won away against Manchester United in league competition when conceding a goal since November 1977. Still, records are made to be broken and all that…
Tumblr media
Man Utd vs Arsenal LIVE: Premier League score, goals and updates (Image: GETTY)
MANCHESTER UNITED 1-0 ARSENAL
45: And we’re back underway folks. No changes for either side. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side really need a win here – but they’ll have to do something they haven’t done for a few months – score a second goal!
Tumblr media
Man Utd vs Arsenal LIVE: Premier League score, goals and updates (Image: GETTY)
Twitter round-up
Jamu: No matter the result today Unai Emery needs to go. Negative team selection, no creativity in midfield. Ceballos & Ozil in place of Xhaka & Saka would have bossed that midfield & created chance after chance.
Com: Xhaka scared of the ball and duck it. What a shame!
Lamied: Bar the goal, it’d been a dreadful half. Arsenal let United keep the ball almost as if they knew we wouldn’t be able to hurt them if we don’t get a count attack, and truly,we did score via a counter attack eventually. Sad we can’t cut a defence open without a counter!
Shay: Emery has absolutely no clue what he is doing. Get him out ASAP, Freddie Ljungberg caretaker manager (heck even player) until end season.
Tumblr media

MANCHESTER UNITED 1-0 ARSENAL
HT: And that’s the break. Pretty low quality affair brought to life in the final minutes of the half and the boot of Scott McTominay. It does actually appear that Granit Xhaka ducked out of the way to avoid a ball flush in the face. Not a very captain-y thing to do…
MANCHESTER UNITED 1-0 ARSENAL | MCTOMINAY
44: GOAL! Manchester United need a hero? Step forward, Scott McTominay!
Marcus Rashford does well to keep Daniel James’ wayward cross from crossing the byline and rolls it back for the advancing McTominay to leather past Bernd Leno with the help of a slight deflection.
That is Scott McTominay’s first goal at Old Trafford.
42: Waste! Marcus Rashford with a chance to give the hosts a valuable lead before the break. He sets off and strolls beyond Chambers but the striker stalls, dithers and eventually scuffs it at Sokratis.
Double save! Manchester United turn a corner into last-gasp defending in the blink of an eye. Pereira slips at the crucial moment and Saka is played in. His effort is parried wide by De Gea and Guendouzi can’t beat the Spaniard with the follow up.
39: Saka being taught a wee lesson in… gamesmanship shall we say. Young clearly tugs his shirt but the referee warns the teenager for complaining. Rashford on the left for now, with Lingard or James as the nine.
Young pushes his luck a bit too much when flying into Guendouzi. Booked!
Tumblr media
Man Utd vs Arsenal LIVE: Premier League score, goals and updates (Image: GETTY)
37: Pepe and McTominay has a clash of knees in the middle. The referee awards the free-kick to Arsenal, and after a quick VAR review, changes his mind and gives it to the hosts. Pretty much the highlight of the action so far. Stay tuned for more incidents like this…
36: Pretty dreadful quality tonight. Aubameyang beats the United centre-backs to a lofted pass but having brought down the cross, Nicolas Pepe tamely strikes at David de Gea.
34: Andreas Pereira chops down Nicolas Pepe on the counter and the referee decides to book him. Pretty nasty looking challenge.
And it gives us the chance to see David Luiz in set-piece action… or not. Wow, that was horrendous. Grant Xhaka punts the ball up high… and it dribbles out. Ironic cheers from the home supporters.
Tumblr media
Man Utd vs Arsenal LIVE: Premier League score, goals and updates (Image: GETTY)
32: A moment of quality! Finally! We’ve waited 32 minutes for that as Andreas Pereira ghosts past David Luiz before forcing a good diving stop from Bernd Leno. The former Chelsea defender was beaten all ends up there.
And from the sublime to the ridiculous as Saka lays it on a plate for Pepe, who balloons it over with a first-time strike.
30: Booked! Silly from Rashford, who chases for a lost cause and slides in on Sokratis. Looked like the studs were up there and Kevin Friend reaches for his pocket.
27: Eh? Arsenal have a free-kick on the left flank. They send all the lads up from the back but Nicolas Pepe inexplicably punts it straight out of play. Unai Emery is the picture of frustration watching that.
25: Daniel James should be going direct at the already booked Calum Chambers, but decides to pass it backwards to nobody. Luckily Scott McTominay is there to mop up the danger and get his side on the front foot again.
Chance! David Luiz brings down a set-piece near the byline and flashes a cross through the penalty area that Aubameyang is close to connecting with.
Tumblr media
Man Utd vs Arsenal LIVE: Premier League score, goals and updates (Image: GETTY)
22: Yellow? Nope. Jesse Lingard follows the breaking Bukayo Saka before clipping his ankles but referee Kevin Friend lets him off with a warning. Bit unfair considering Calum Chambers was carded for exactly the same thing.
19: Bernd Leno is a bit hesitant when going to take a goal kick short. Marcus Rashford spots it and rushes him and the German is forced to send it long. OK, that’s not an electric update – but it does show that Solskjaer and Co are doing their homework.
16: The Red Devils are dominating possession tonight but that’s probably by design. Arsenal will know that United’s biggest threat is on the break and aren’t prepared to hand them that advantage.
13: Ashley Young with a chance to send in a great cross from the right… goes begging as he knocks it straight out of play. The Arsenal fans enjoyed that one. If you listen carefully, you can hear every Manchester United supporter writing a mean tweet about him..
Tumblr media
Man Utd vs Arsenal LIVE: Premier League score, goals and updates (Image: GETTY)
Tumblr media
Man Utd vs Arsenal LIVE: Premier League score, goals and updates (Image: GETTY)
11: Booked! Bit early for that, Calum! Chambers won’t let Daniel James pass him and is prepared to go in the referee’s book for it. Just the 79 minutes plus stoppage time to survive…
10: Gareth Southgate in the house tonight. He’s not wearing the waistcoat or a plastic rain coat. Rebel. Kasper and Peter Schmeichel too. Edu, Raul Sanllehi and Vinai Venkatesham among those representing Arsenal.
7: Nice bit of interplay from Daniel James and Lingard down the left channel, but a popped pass to Paul Pogba sees the Frenchman blast it straight at Granit Xhaka.
5: “We’ve got Saka and Xhaka, but no Wan-Bissaka,” says Martin Tyler, who sounds extremely pleased with himself. No early action to discuss with the ball opening most of its time skidding around the middle of the park.
Tumblr media

3: The eagle-eyed Gary Neville has spotted that Axel Tuanzebe is actually playing at left-back this evening. Ashley Young starting on the right tonight against Bukayo Saka. bloodbath.
Corner to Arsenal as Tuanzebe heads a lofted pass aimed for Calum Chambers behind. The Gunner play it short and the delivery is eaten up by Harry Maguire.
MANCHESTER UNITED 0-0 ARSENAL
1: Y’all ready for this? Terrific, we’re underway at Old Trafford. Still hammering it down and both managers have sensibly got their big coats on.

Here they come!
19:55: No Roy Keane-esque style antics in the tunnel I’m sad to report. All quite civil between the two sets of players. The weather hasn’t done a thing to subdue supporters – everyone’s up for this battle.
Flithy…
19:50: Pretty grim up north this evening folks. It hasn’t stopped raining for a few hours and the surface is primed for a defensive mistake or two.
Just checked the forecast, and it’s not likely to stop anytime soon. Pleasant day on Wednesday though… if that’s any consolation.
Tumblr media

He needs to dominate!
19:48: Roy Keane has told Paul Pogba what he needs to do tonight – dominate. Simple enough I suppose.
“To dominate the game, it’s as simple as that,” Keane said on Sky Sports.
“Show a bit of courage, get on the ball and make things happen. We’ve been very critical of Paul over the last few years, but when he’s out of the team, as we saw at West Ham last week, he’s probably still is their best player. His mentality has got to be right though.”
Tumblr media

Twitter reaction
Frank: For United and Arsenal to challenge, they’ll have to sell ALL their midfielders and defenders! The Goalkeeper-ship and Striker-ship positions are well covered up! With both clubs benefiting by appointing a Director of Football each
Mehrad: Ole shouldn’t be playing Pogba and Rashford if they are not fully fit he will make the situation worse like he did last year.
Grant: Baffles me how Ashley Young who has been a complete liability is starting ahead of Rojo who (this season) has been pretty decent.
Think you’re being generous to Rojo there, Grant. He’s not had the chance to prove himself as a liability yet is more likely.
Tumblr media

Glory days
19:40: If you could have the Bruce Springsteen song playing in your mind while reading this – that would be helpful…
Roy Keane believes Manchester United are better equipped to return to the top of English football than Arsenal.
“I would probably have to say United,” he said on Sky Sports. “I just think United are always capable of going out and spending more money than Arsenal basically.
“Obviously if things aren’t going well over the next few months, I think Ole’s mentioned already they’re on the look out for a striker, they’re obviously short of one. I think United have got more money I suppose to try and go out and get better players.”
Unai Emery says Mesut Ozil is not injured. Purely a tactical decision. This Emery vs Ozil fight is beyond tiresome. Needs to be addressed in January. Arsenal are in no position to have a 350k a week player sitting home doing nothing #MUNARS https://t.co/YWhkoxA90x
— Uche Amako (@UcheAmako) September 30, 2019
Where’s Ozil?
19:35: Yes, the least popular feature of our Arsenal live blogs returns with the German not involved for the umpteenth time. I think we’re at the stage when Ozil starting is bigger news to be honest with you.
Asked where the playmaker was this evening, Unai Emery did his best to avoid the question.
“Today I decide the team and the squad,” the Arsenal manager said. Thanks for that, Unai.
Tumblr media

The captaincy debate
19:30: Not that we haven’t spoken about this to death already…
Unai Emery backed Granit Xhaka to win the fans over after the Swiss midfielder was named the club’s new captain following a dressing-room vote.
Xhaka, who has captained Arsenal six times this season, finished ahead of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Hector Bellerin, Alexandre Lacazette and Mesut Ozil in the voting process.
And absolutely nobody is pleased with the decision. Nobody I tell ya!
“He (Xhaka) is mature, he has experience. We are living under pressure and criticism, as a coach, as a player, as a club,” Emery said.
“I spoke with him, we want to change that outside opinion (of him). The respect he has inside is very important. I trust and believe in him. He is a good man, a good professional, a good player.”
Tumblr media

Battle of the youth!
19:25: Should be a very interesting night with all these youngsters looking to prove themselves against each other.
Matteo Guendouzi goes up against Scott McTominay in the middle of the park. Good chance of blood and thunder with those two.
Makeshift (kind of) right-back Axel Tuanzebe is tasked with stopping Bukayo Saka down that left channel. Easier said than done.
Tumblr media

Ole’s the man?
19:20: He certainly thinks so.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is confident he is the right man to take the club forward despite a shaky start to the Premier League season.
United are 11th in the standings with eight points after six games but the Norwegian said he can get the 20-times champions to once again compete with holders Manchester City and leaders Liverpool.
“I’m not doubting myself. If I doubted myself, then I think the rest of the world would as well,” Solskjaer said.
On a completely unrelated note, I’m just having a look at the odds for the next Manchester United manager. Poch is favourite, Massimiliano Allegri and Laurent Blanc in behind.

Twitter reaction
Anukram: Arsenal and Manchester United need to rethink and restructure their current wage structures I think. Their glorious histories are not enough for players to come and play at these clubs anymore. Money and wages are important too.
Richard: Leicester proved it’s not just about money. Belief in your system patience and luck all play a part. And of course you need the manager to have good players and play to the teams strength. Hopeful Arsenal fan.
Rezaa: Looking at the Line Ups, there’s nothing between the 2 teams. Good attacks, poor defence. 3-3
I really do hope you’re right, Rezaa.

Team News – Manchester United
19:10: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer makes three changes from the West ham defeat.
Axel Tuanzebe, Jesse Lingard and Paul Pogba come into the starting XI with Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Nemanja Matic and Juan Mata missing out. AWB is out of the squad altogether through injury.
Marcus Rashford is passed fit despite those injury concerns, which means 17-year-old striker Mason Greenwood has been left on the bench.

Team News – Arsenal
19:05: Youngest player klaxon! Bukayo Saka becomes the youngest player to start for Arsenal against Manchester United in the Premier League, aged 18 years and 25 days. Bit of pub ammunition for you guys there…
Unai Emery makes two changes to the starting XI from the team who beat Aston Villa 3-2 in their last Premier League game.
Lucas Torreira and Calum Chambers start, Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Dani Ceballos are on the bench.
The sides
19:00: Interesting, very interesting. Here are the line-ups for today’s games and there’s quite a few surprises.
Manchester United XI: De Gea, Tuanzebe, Maguire, Lindelof, Young, McTominay, Pogba, Lingard, Pereira, James, Rashford.
Subs: Romero, Rojo, Williams, Fred, Mata, Matic, Greenwood.
Arsenal XI: Leno, Chambers, Sokratis, Luiz, Kolasinac, Xhaka, Guendouzi, Torreira, Pepe, Aubameyang, Saka.
Subs: Martinez, Maitland-Niles, Holding, Willock, Ceballos, Nelson, Martinelli.
The standings…
18:55: I think you know full well the standings and how the sides have performed in the opening six fixtures – but I’m contractually obliged to force-feed you this information…
Manchester United are 11th in the standings with eight points after six games – level on points with Sheffield United.
But three points tonight would see them leap into sixth – above Chelsea on goal difference.
As for Arsenal? Well… 11 points in six games and one victory away from knocking West Ham out of the top four.
The Gunners are actually in very good goal scoring form – averaging over two goals a game. But the unconvincing win over Aston Villa and the dismal 2-2 draw with Watford show the same old vulnerabilities are there at the back.

Evening…
18:50: Hello everyone and welcome to our LIVE coverage of the Premier League.
In days gone by, I would have started this blog by asking unstoppable force meets an immovable object.
Now, I’ll ask what happens when team incapable of keeping a clean sheet meets a side who simply can’t score more than one goal in 90 minutes?
Not as catchy, is it?
Not since Emmanuel Adebayor scored the only goal of the game in September 2006 have Arsenal left United with three points.
Since then, United have had the better of their battles but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are out of form and have a lengthy injury list heading into tonight’s meeting.
Should be a very interesting night indeed. Team news and line-ups arriving any moment now.

MANCHESTER UNITED vs ARSENAL – TEAM NEWS
Paul Pogba is a doubt for Manchester United’s Premier League clash against Arsenal because of a swollen ankle.
The Frenchman returned to action for the first time since suffering the injury at Southampton last month but the issue has flared up again, leaving the midfielder touch and go to face the Gunners.
Forward pair Anthony Martial (thigh) and Marcus Rashford (groin) are unlikely to feature while Phil Jones is definitely out but fellow defender Luke Shaw returned to training on Friday after a month on the sidelines with a hamstring complaint.
Arsenal could hand a Premier League debut to Kieran Tierney at Old Trafford.
The full-back was injured when he joined from Celtic but made his bow in the Carabao Cup win over Nottingham Forest, with Hector Bellerin and Rob Holding also making long-awaited returns in midweek.
Alexandre Lacazette (ankle) is missing and Emile Smith Rowe (concussion) is also out.

Arsenal: Bernd Leno, Calum Chambers, Sokratis Papastathopoulos, David Luiz, Sead Kolasinac, Matteo Guendouzi, Granit Xhaka, Nicolas Pepe, Joseph Willock, Bukayo Saka, Aubameyang.

Nicolas Pepe’s directness can be a game-changer on the road for Arsenal – FIVE THINGS WE LEARNED
Arsenal Won sanctions after being held for a 1-1 draw in their penultimate preseason friendly to Angers while Unai Emery continued to give opportunities to the club's upcoming talent.
The Gunners went after 13 minutes after Farid El Melami found out about the defense before dribbling around Emiliano Martinez and gambling home.
But Reiss Nelson got up early in the second half to tap home to earn a tie. The game was then decided by penalties, with Arsenal winning 4-3 in the shootout.
Here is JONATHAN SPENCER from Sportsmail to implement the rule about what was learned during Arsenal & # 39; s friendly against the Ligue 1 outfit …
Youngster Reiss Nelson scored the equalizer for Arsenal against Angers when she drew 1-1
PEPE & ARRIVAL CANNOT EAT QUICK ENOUGH
We cannot read much in friendships, but the last seasons (and on Wednesdays) have desperate Arsenal emphasizes the need for a lightning fast and direct winger. Although much has been done about signing a centerback as a priority, fans would argue that this position is just as important.
Away from home in recent times, the shape of the Gunners has been terrible and this is partly due to their lack of threat in the future. Once they are under the pump, they hide in their shells and struggle for creativity and ride in midfield, in a way where Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang no longer serve.
The approaching arrival of £ 72 million man Nicolas Pepe, who gets fans off their feet, may be the man who quickly turns defense into attack – putting the ball under deep pressure and instead put opposition defense on the back foot.
Ivory Coast international Nicolas Pepe can be a game changer on the road for the Gunners
MARTINELLI IS LOCATED ON A TOUGH EVENING
Although it was a tough evening for the young, a child stood out more than others – and that was the Brazilian starlet Gabriel Martinelli, who joined the North London outfit for £ 6 million this summer.
Martinelli, who models his game on Cristiano Ronaldo, is considered one of the most promising talents in his home country and recently earned a call to t raining platoon of Brazil for the Copa America. And on Wednesday we saw an excerpt of why Arsenal and so many others were interested in his signature.
The 18-year-old – who had a fantastic working speed – showed a few moments of great intelligence, composed and not afraid of getting the opposition. Almost immediately before half-time he was almost rewarded with an equalizer, but his smart header drifted past the right post for the first time from a cross just over the right post.
Gabriel Martinelli stood tall, with fantastic working speed and composition during the friendly
LJUNGBERG & # 39; S FIRST TEAM PROMOTION PAYS
Freddie Ljungberg's promotion may work wonders for the Gunners after three consecutive years want to rebuild the seasons in the Europa League.
Since taking on his role as assistant coach after his period as manager under 23, Emery has given ample opportunities to the talent of the exciting club with Ljungberg as a welcome link between the academy and the first team.
The likes of Joe Willock, Eddie Nketiah and Tyreece-John Jules have impressed the entire preseason and the youngsters get the chance to shine again on Wednesday. And it paid off when Nelson, tipped for a bright future, brought in the equalizer after being in the right place at the right time.
There were chances for the first team for the children this summer and fans will hope this continues throughout the season as the club balances the Premier League, Europa League and cup competitions.
The promotion of Freddie Ljungberg as assistant to the first team seems to be bearing fruit at this time
ROOMS WANT TO BE MIDDLE BACK OPPORTUNITY
The Arsenal of Shkodran Mustafi hangs on a thread with more errors creeping in its weeks go on. This was the perfect game to give Calum Chambers more playing time in the heart of the defense to prove its worth under Emery.
Chambers, who impressed Fulham's final term – winning player of the season, becomes
Although his defense can sometimes be raw, the talent is still there and he would lose his chances to compete. with people like Rob Holding and Sokratis. It will only improve at the heart of the defense with regular playing time. But frustrated, he was deployed at the back right against Angers, while Mustafi was preferred in the back center. Missed an opportunity by the Gunners.
Calum Chambers were deployed in the back right by Unai Emery while they took over the Ligue 1 outfit on
CLEAN-ADELAIDE STRUGGLES TO PROVE HIS POINT
After breaking the lively performance of the Emirates Cup for Arsenal against Lyon in 2015 was a huge excitement that they might have found their next big thing.
But turn the clock three years ahead and he was sold to Angers on a permanent deal after a short loan period after he was a surplus of requirements under the then new manager Emery in 2018.
And on Wednesday, Reine-Adelaide had the chance to show Emery his worth, but a few threatening moments early in the second half, the French midfielder failed to put his former team on the line. To make matters worse, his missed penalty in the shoot-out made Arsenal hit narrow winners.

MANCHESTER UNITED vs ARSENAL
Manchester United XI: De Gea, Tuanzebe, Maguire, Lindelof, Young, McTominay, Pogba, Lingard, Pereira, James, Rashford
Arsenal XI: Leno, Chambers, Sokratis, Luiz, Kolasinac, Xhaka, Guendouzi, Torreira, Pepe, Aubameyang, Saka

Premier League transfer review: Where did your club fail to buy?
The Premier League transfer window is closed again for the rest of the year, but how did your team do? Did they leave any gaps?
Our correspondents assess how the top clubs failed to address their weaknesses this summer.
Jump to: Liverpool | Tottenham  | Man United | Arsenal | Chelsea
MAN CITY: No replacement for Kompany
Pep Guardiola started the summer looking for a holding midfielder and a central defender. He got one, but not the other, while also upgrading his full-back options with Joao Cancelo and Angelino.
After missing out on Jorginho last summer — the Italian moved to Chelsea instead — City finally found their long-term replacement for Fernandinho in Atletico Madrid’s Rodri. At around €70m, the 23-year-old is the club’s record buy and, judging by early performances against Liverpool and West Ham, it already looks like money well spent.
However, the search for a centre-back wasn’t so successful. Leicester’s Harry Maguire was on the list of possible replacements for captain Vincent Kompany — who left for a player-manager role at former club Anderlecht — but ultimately City would not match Man United’s £80m offer.
Kompany was a huge character in the dressing room and almost impossible to replace, but one positive for Guardiola is that he will not have to squeeze too many extra games out of his other options. Kompany hasn’t made more than 20 Premier League appearances since 2014-15 — also the last time he played more than 30 games in all competitions — and Aymeric Laporte, John Stones and Nicolas Otamendi will take on most of the extra workload now Eliaquim Mangala has been allowed to leave for Valencia.
It seems they are thin at the back, but Guardiola has also hinted that midfielder Fernandinho could also find himself at centre-back at times this season. City managed without an extra holding midfielder last season and it’s unlikely their title defence will be dented too much after missing out on a centre-back. Still, expect the search for a new one to restart in 12 months’ time. — Rob Dawson

LIVERPOOL: A gamble on the future, especially at full-back
If anyone was surprised by Liverpool’s minimal business in the market, they clearly haven’t being paying attention to Jurgen Klopp’s words or methodology. Stretching back to his days as manager of Borussia Dortmund, the German has craved squad continuity and while the Bundesliga side weren’t equipped to fend off interest from the likes of Bayern Munich and Manchester United, a policy of player retention has been core at Anfield.
He believes in the power of collective development and generating improvement from within, so sporting director Michael Edwards’ main responsibilities this summer have been to trim the squad and recruit gifted young players with lots of potential. Dutch defender Sepp van den Berg, 17, and Harvey Elliott, who became the youngest player to feature in the Premier League at 16 years and 30 days while at Fulham, have been drafted in as Liverpool consider the club’s future.
– Liverpool vs. Chelsea: When is the UEFA Super Cup? – ESPN Premier League fantasy: Sign up now! – All Premier League summer transfers
The only first-team addition came in the form of goalkeeper Adrian on a free, who replaces Simon Mignolet as Alisson’s deputy. The club were never going to go back in for Lyon’s Nabil Fekir as they are well-stocked in central midfield but they did have designs on getting cover for Andy Robertson at left-back, before their first-choice target Lloyd Kelly joined Bournemouth instead.
The performances of youngster Yasser Larouci in preseason convinced Klopp not to spend on a position where James Milner and Joe Gomez can also deputise in — though it is not ideal for either to start on that flank. On the other side, Ki-Jana Hoever — one of the Academy’s brightest prospects — will develop into cover for Trent Alexander-Arnold, but Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, Milner and Joel Matip could also be used as a temporary fix at right-back.
All in all, the Merseysiders are confident their transfer policy will allow them to bring in game-changers in future and while it is a risk not to add greater quality in depth, it is a gamble Klopp is quite comfortable in taking.  — Melissa Reddy

TOTTENHAM: An Eriksen mess, defensive questions and a backup to Kane
Mauricio Pochettino has spoken of the “big mistake” made by the Premier League in enforcing the Aug. 8 transfer deadline which, the Spurs manager claims, places England’s top clubs at a disadvantage against most of their European counterparts, who can continue to sign players until Sept. 2.
Pochettino’s comments hinted at a realisation that his own rebuilding programme was incomplete, despite chairman Daniel Levy signing off the club’s first purchases since January 2018.
The failure to push through a deal for Juventus forward Paulo Dybala saw Spurs fail to secure a replacement for Christian Eriksen, whose ongoing refusal to sign a new contract could see him leave on a free transfer next summer. And with Juan Foyth ruled out for at least a month with an ankle injury, amid doubts over Pochettino’s faith in both Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen, Spurs have gone into the season with question marks over the centre of their defence.
Youngsters Jack Clarke (loaned back to Leeds) and Ryan Sessegnon have been signed for the long term, while Tanguy Ndombele and Giovani Lo Celso have added ready-made quality in midfield.
But having offloaded Vincent Janssen and Fernando Llorente since the end of last season, Spurs could once again find themselves short on attacking options if Harry Kane is sidelined through injury.
Allowing two centre-forwards to leave without replacing either of them is a risky strategy, even though the likes of Lucas Moura, Son Heung-Min and Dele Alli have all shown their ability to find the back of the net whenever Kane is absent. — Mark Ogden

MAN UNITED: Midfield depth and a Lukaku replacement
United made significant improvements to their defence over the summer with the arrivals for Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Harry Maguire for a combined fee of £130m. But when the transfer window closed last week, there were still gaps in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad and one in particular was emphasised during the 4-0 win over Chelsea on the opening weekend of the season.
Marouane Fellaini left Old Trafford in January, while Ander Herrera followed him at the end of last season, and it has left United short in midfield. Solskjaer will expect Andreas Pereira and Scott McTominay to play more games but it is still an area of the squad that looks short both on numbers and quality.
It will not have escaped United fans that even during a positive afternoon against Chelsea, there were significant chunks of the first half that were dominated by Frank Lampard‘s side and the scoreline at half-time would have been different had the visitors been more clinical.
After the departure of Romelu Lukaku to Inter Milan for €80m, there are also still question marks up front. Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial have made a good start in trying to fill the void in terms of goals, with young Mason Greenwood ready to step up from the academy, but failing to replace the Belgian striker is still a risk for Solskjaer.
Rashford and Martial have both averaged close to a goal every four games during their United careers and Solskjaer is asking both to reach levels they have never managed before. Solskjaer has put his faith in young players in both midfield and up front and in the absence of new arrivals, United’s success this season depends on it being repaid. — Rob Dawson

ARSENAL: Defensive depth and consistency
While the £72m acquisition of Nicolas Pepe was the headline business for Arsenal this summer, their most vital trading occurred on deadline day with the signings of Kieran Tierney and David Luiz for less than half the Frenchmen’s fee combined.
Over the past two league seasons, only Manchester City and Liverpool have outscored the Gunners, with their failings coming at the opposite end of the pitch. Arsenal shipped 51 goals in consecutive campaigns, rendering the addition of the experienced Luiz from rivals Chelsea for £8m at centre-back and Celtic’s Tierney at £25m to solidify the left flank as imperative.
– Transfer grades: Tracking every big club’s deals
The loan move for Real Madrid’s Dani Ceballos was inspired, as was the recruitment of highly rated young defender William Saliba, who will remain at Saint-Etienne on loan for 2019-20. The common thread with all these players is their stylistic suitability under manager Unai Emery and while there are lingering doubts as to whether Arsenal will have enough consistency and resolve without the ball to secure a Champions League spot, the team will not be short of goals or a fear factor for plenty of opposition managers.
The exit of Aaron Ramsey to Juventus on a free transfer early in the summer was a mess, while the drama surrounding former captain Laurent Koscielny‘s forced £4.6m move to Bordeaux was a shock they could have done without.
There is still a feeling that the defence’s depth will struggle against the elite teams, with Ainsley Maitland-Niles still deputising for the injured Hector Bellerin at right-back and Calum Chambers thrown in at the deep end to prove himself as a centre-back. Any injury to No. 1 goalkeeper Bernd Leno would leave them with the inexperienced Emiliano Martinez, too. But on paper, and especially with their financial restrictions, Arsenal navigated the window as best they could. — Melissa Reddy
Tumblr media
CHELSEA: Transfer ban woes, but centre-back depth Chelsea’s own doing
Having been hit with a two-window transfer ban by FIFA following an investigation into the signing of foreign players under the age of 18, Chelsea went into the summer knowing that they would not be able to add to their squad.
And with the realisation that Eden Hazard would be leaving for Real Madrid, the biggest challenge for the club was always going to be ensuring that Maurizio Sarri’s successor as manager, Frank Lampard, would still have a competitive squad to take into the new campaign.
By striking a £57.6m deal for U.S. international Christian Pulisic in January — with the Borussia Dortmund forward immediately loaned back to the German club for the remainder of the season — Chelsea ensured they had a replacement for Hazard secured.
Mateo Kovacic‘s loan from Real Madrid also became a permanent deal in the summer and youngsters such as Tammy Abraham, Mason Mount and Fikayo Tomori returned from loan duty to bolster Lampard’s options.
However, the departures of David Luiz to Arsenal (for £8m) and Gary Cahill to Crystal Palace (after being released) have left Chelsea without two experienced centre-backs, and that could become a problem during the campaign if the back four is hit by injuries. Kurt Zouma already highlighted the lack of depth with his poor performance in the 4-0 defeat to Man United this weekend.
Still, considering the restrictions placed upon the club by their transfer ban, Chelsea have emerged from the summer window in a healthier shape than their supporters may have feared.
Hazard is irreplaceable, despite Pulisic’s potential, but the youngsters who have now been promoted to the first-team squad have the opportunity to stake their claim and save Chelsea more money in the market next summer. — Mark Ogden

Arsenal vs. AFC Bournemouth – Football Match Report – October 6, 2019
David Luiz got on the scoresheet for his first Arsenal goal. Getty
Arsenal held on for a scrappy 1-0 win over Bournemouth after dominating much of the first half.
The Gunners moved up to third behind Manchester City and Liverpool, but will be disappointed at the lacklustre nature of the win as Eddie Howe’s men almost pulled off a shock at the Emirates.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang fizzed a shot from 20 yards just wide early on but Arsenal took the lead inside 10 minutes as £72m summer signing Nicolas Pepe whipped in a good corner and David Luiz was left unmarked to head past Aaron Ramsdale in the Bournemouth goal.
It was almost 1-1 when Dominic Solanke flicked wide from only eight yards out but Bournemouth were unable to get into the game beyond that and Pepe curled a shot wide before falling in the box under a tackle from Diego Rico. Referee Martin Atkinson ruled no penalty and the VAR check did not see reason to overturn it.
– ESPN Premier League fantasy: Sign up now! – VAR in the Premier League: Ultimate guide – When does the transfer window reopen? – Premier League winter break: All you need to know
The 18-year-old Bukayo Saka, starting again on the wing, tested Ramsdale on 36 minutes but it was easily saved.
Then Dani Ceballos found plenty of space and his teasing cross found Calum Chambers at the far post. The defender hit a fine volley but it went wide of the target.
Just before half-time, Pepe again went over after an apparent push from Rico, but no penalty was given after another VAR check.
Bournemouth came out firing from the break as Callum Wilson turned Luiz and then rounded Arsenal keeper Bernd Leno, only for Chambers to clear his cross off the goalline before Harry Wilson could poke home.
Lazy defending from Sead Kolasinac saw Jack Stacey get past him and clip a shot which Leno did well to palm away.
Pepe made way for young Gabriel Martinelli, who impressed in midweek with two goals in the Europe League, while Bournemouth brought on a player linked to Arsenal in the transfer window: Ryan Fraser.
Substitute Joe Willock fed Martinelli, who shot wide, but Arsenal could have conceded a penalty as Wilson was barged over by Kolasinac.
Aubameyang hit the post late on and Lucas Torreira came on to try and preserve Arsenal’s lead, which he did. Though given the home side’s advantage in the first half, it should have been a lot simpler.
