The damage has been done
Thinking about what Harry Potter merchandise I have, and I have realised, I cannot undo the damage that my purchases of Harry Potter have done, especially when I realised I wasn't as keen on the franchise as I thought I was, and I figured out as to why. Books set at a Boarding School wasn't my thing; it was the same with Enid Blyton's Boarding School novels. I was more into adventure as a teen, and as I'm currently reading The Hunger Games series, I want to find similar YA novels to The Hunger Games. One thing I do regret is not purchasing that copy of "Surviving Antarctica" I found in a bookshop back in 2006.
Edit: Mum has said it's okay for me to sell some stuff I no longer want so I can make room for a bookshelf. She knows I am no longer into Harry Potter and haven't been since 2016. In other words, I will be getting rid of my Harry Potter stuff. Human Rights matter more than Harry Potter, and looking back, Harry Potter was mean-spirited. It also ruined an entire generation by turning them into "Nostalgia filled manchildren obsessed with a mediocre book series aimed at nine-year-olds" who wants to consume the IP despite the recent stuff being just as mediocre.

75 Years: An Alternate Reality
The plot is: A millennia after the 1st Hunger Games, Panem is at peace. When scientist Cirrus Whitwick IX's invention goes wrong, he finds himself in an alternate Universe, in which not just the Games is continuing, but everything he knows from the Games ends up a lot differently.
Ripple effects in the AU:
(1st-10th)
District 13 is defeated, but not destroyed (Crassus Snow decides not to destroy the District due to his business interests, and realises that if he destroys District 13, he would plunge his family into poverty); this ends up creating a ripple effect that sees twenty-six Tributes be in the Games.
District 12, instead of being the last District to gain two Victors, becomes the second District to gain more than one Victor.
The events of the Fourth Hunger Games plays out differently; instead, the 10-11-12 Alliance is changed (In the AU, Keanu Westwood is killed before he proposes an alliance with June Holloway). The pattern of deaths will change though. This is where things will start changing in terms of Victors.
The Fifth and Sixth Hunger Games will have a different District 12 Tribute for boy and girl. Sixth Hunger Games Victor remains unchanged.
Mentors are introduced earlier than the 10th.
Ages of the Victors until 10th:
18, 17, 16, 16*, 17*, 17, 16, 16, 16, 16.
*Different Victor.
Summary for the first decade of AU:
District 13 is defeated, forced to participate in the Games; no secret deal.
Mentors are introduced from the start, effectively butterflying away Coriolanus Snow's involvement with District 12
The temporary Alliance between Keanu and June is butterflied away.
Because there isn't an alliance between a Tribute from 12 and a Tribute from another District, the 10-11-12 Alliance is effectively butterflied away.
As the 10-11-12 Alliance doesn't exist in this AU, Lachlan Hennessey and Faith Dolman are spared.
I plan to start writing up the prologue and first chapter later today.

A fine example of hypocrisy
You lot bullied Ali Hazlewood off Social Media all because she stated she prefers Gale Hawthorne over Peeta Mellark yet people are fine with J/K/Rowling using her Social Media to spread and fund hate.

There's several differences between H.P Lovecraft and J.K Rowling, one is that the former is dead and Lovecraft didn't have Twitter to post his insane rants to fourteen million people or used his money to fund racism. Lovecraft's opinions only became known to the wider public after his death, while we're seeing J.K Rowling's hatred in real time. Also, Lovecraft created an entire genre of fiction while Rowling has an adverse impact on literature and brainwashed a generation into being "Nostalgia ridden manchildren" who cling onto everything Harry Potter like a stubborn barnacle.

This is the logical conclusion of the impact Harry Potter had on the book industry. Seriously, I was reading books long before Harry Potter took off, and I despair at the state of publishing now. While at the library, I saw a teenage girl pick up a book. She read a chapter before deciding to put the book back, probably because it was badly written. After she put the book away, she scanned the shelves for a book to borrow before deciding to walk out, disappointed she couldn't find a book she finds interesting. The saddest thing is, teenagers today are growing up with barely-disguised fanfiction. They don't have the "Next Big Thing" in publishing, instead having crap that would soon be forgotten.

Twelve of mine got scraped, the only one that didn't was the "Cat Cafe" one
Alright! Sorry for being so absent today! I was building a tool so you can all check your own names on demand.
I am asking that you not talk about it on Hugging Face. I'm sure word will get there eventually, but I'd like to avoid them accessing this as much as possible. Feel absolutely free to spread around Tumblr.
Tool is here! Use page 1 to search by username. Use page 2 to search by work ID (which you'll need to do if you're looking for an anonymous work).
That said, I did pay out of pocket for some of the accounts I've needed to do all this. If I need to, I'm fine with eating that cost, but I am going to ask nicely that if you feel like kicking in toward it, you donate to the Ko-Fi I made specifically for this technical project. I was hoping to get a short-term membership, but I was only able to buy access to host this for a full year lmao. BUT regardless, this is freely available to everyone. Do NOT feel like you need to donate if it'll put you in a bad place or even if you just don't want to. Just figured I'd ask instead of quietly sucking up the $180.
Thanks to everyone who helped with the cost to host the tool! I appreciate you so so so much. As of this edit, I'm at $185 total, and right now, I don't expect to have to pay for anything else to keep this available.
I gave the tool a quick test, but please come yell if it stops working. I'm around; I'll fix as fast as I can. It's slow as hell, but it does load eventually. Give it up to 10 minutes, and if it seems down after that, please alert me via ask! Anons are on.
Now with all that being said, time for me to start focusing on how we stop the next scrape.

Something really fun about Pokémon is that adults are allowed to exist in that series. So many kids books and shows and whatever else make it so that only kids can do The Magical Thing and then they get fucked over when they turn 18, and not only is Pokémon not like that, its worldbuilding actively forbids that.
Using Fairly Odd Parents as a negative example, the idea that Timmy Turner will lose all memories of two people who were there for him more than his real parents ever were is horrifying and cruel. His fairy godparents ARE his family, and he’s doomed to lose them when he turns 18. That’s a pretty fucked up idea and I don’t like thinking about that at all.
However, if you tried to apply that logic to Pokémon, the whole universe would break because Pokémon are just animals and being a Pokémon trainer is like being a real life dog trainer. “Adults are banned from experiencing Pokémon” would be like banning adults from owning a dog. Hell, since Pokémon are so vital to the function of this fictional society, you might as well banish the adults to go live in a cave somewhere. Pokémon generate the electricity, they serve as public transportation in Alola, Rotom tech is MADE of Pokémon and even the most normal jobs require you to at least tolerate the presence of Pokémon. Pokémon’s worldbuilding requires the whimsy in order to function, unlike all the kids-only series that police the whimsy arbitrarily.
I think there’s a metaphor to be found in this. In all those series where only kids get magic, you have to give up all the things you love the most when you become an adult, but maybe that’s not how it works. Maybe it doesn’t have to be that way.
And don’t you dare mention H*rry P*tter as an example of what to do right. In that world, your rights to fun and whimsy are based on genetics and physical ability, which is a significantly more fucked up way of doing that. Rowling’s bigotry is baked into the very foundation of this fictional world.

Suzanne Collins made people's childhoods. While J.K Rowling was sending the manuscrips for "Harry Potter", Suzanne was writing for kids' television shows such as "Little Bear".
I think JK Rowling thinks she’s like Suzanne Collins when they aren’t even on the same playing field
#anti jk rowling#suzanne collins#I learned that Suzanne was one of the writers on Little Bear a few years back
