The Knitting Frame Who would have thought its 432 years since the Rev William Lee invented the Knitting Frame in Calverton Nottinghamshire England after his wife was to busy knitting on traditional knitting needles and him not getting enough of her attention, how thoughtful of him. 1589 was the year and life didn’t just change for his wife but the future of knitting as we know it today. The tickler bar and tool was invented 1764 which meant fully fashioned garments, eco friendly with zero waste. The best traditional garments are still knitted on a Hand Knitting Frame/Machine, point linked and seemed, hand finished with a eye for detail and perfect finish.
