So Ziggo sport uploaded this video this morning. They are talking with Zonta about how he is also still in highschool and has now passed a couple of his exams. He needs to do one more in august and another one next year and if he passes those too, he graduates high school!

Elle, i have a question and I'd like your opinion. I keep reading stories about Max being on top of Mercedes drivers list for next year. The guys at Ziggosport have been saying this for a long time (maar die zien Max als een soort god, wat ik bloed irritant vind) But now im also reading it on other news outlets. I personally don't believe it, i think George is on top of their list. But reading all those news articles makes me think my opinion is a weird one. What do you think?

I just... I don’t really understand where this idea is coming from? like you said, the Ziggo Sport guys have been saying this for a long time (but they are so blinded by their love for Max that if Max decides to stay at Red Bull for the rest of his career, they would praise RB even if they were last in the championship).

from other news outlets, though: I just don’t understand why they would say that, because all the signs are pointing towards it not being true. Toto has said many times before that he thinks George is the future, that he can see George winning championships for Mercedes one day and even going as far as letting George drive the Mercedes when Lewis was sick instead of the actual reserve driver, because Toto wanted to see what George was capable of. recently Toto even said that he can see George and Esteban being Mercedes’ drivers in the future. additionally, if Toto wanted Max so bad like these news outlets are saying, then why hasn’t he negotiated with Max about driving for Mercedes in the past few years? I’m pretty sure there’s never been any reports of Toto contacting Max about possibly getting a seat at Mercedes, apart from when Max wasn’t in F1 yet and Max’ dad just straight up lied to Mercedes, which resulted in Max going to Toro Rosso/Red Bull.

so, what I’m thinking these news outlets are doing: I think they are just creating a story in order to hype things up more. there’s truly no evidence as to why Max would make a move anytime soon and especially no evidence for that move being to Mercedes. I’m sure Toto thinks Max is a good driver, but I don’t think he is waiting for Max to come running to Mercedes, especially not after testing George’ abilities in a Mercedes last year (and being satisfied with him!). it truly makes no sense to me why these news outlets would say this, apart from the idea that they are trying to create a story. it is frustrating to me though, cause they are basically trying to sell a lie to people.

als ik dit teruglees, vind ik echt dat ik ontzettend gefrustreerd klink, hahaha. zo bedoel ik het niet hoor! ik kan er gewoon oprecht met mijn hoofd niet bij waarom ze dit zouden zeggen (en ik kots ook echt van al die mannen bij Ziggo Sport, vind hun zo vermoeiend). fijn race weekend! 🧡
