[Anya’s Message]

After a rollercoaster of an eighth season for the OC, I just would like to thank everyone for being with us and sharing your time as we all try to get by during this scarily uncertain time. We started the OC sometime during the start of my senior year, and I’m only now two months away from graduating! Having the OC has helped keep me sane at my last uni year here at home, and I’d like to thank all of you for wanting to be a part of this. I’ve always wanted to be host and you guys have brought such an amazing cast of characters with rich backstories into the mix. So thank you thank you thank you for making this OC come to life. 

To Myr, who brought in Alassie and kept her principles and advocacies rooted in valid and important issues faced by Indigenous People and have made some of the spiciest edits through her edits and the details in those song titles. 

To Ana, who created Suzy with her fearlessness to have fun but also have fun with Raffy and her constant energy in RPs. 

To Bri, who always makes wonderful characters like Ivy who just knows how to hit the right romantic moment beats in RPs. 

To Milo, who continues to write some of the funniest dialogue with Rhea and some of the best and funniest grade A fics. 

To Sanji, whose put in so much wonderful effort and detail with Diana and who I still suspect as Lady Illéa– I hope she becomes the embodiment of “mom I am a rich man. 

To Simone, with her attention to detail in creating such real-feeling characters that is so alive in Nellie who we hope would reach her dreams and would heal from her past with her parents. 

To Ester, we hope engineering exams are treating you well and who has brought in such detail and fun with Kaden into Sam’s life and making him so flustered. 

To Emi, who continues to pull off such rich and beautiful characters with fics to match in Andreia, and keeps Archie’s life just as colorful and grounded. 

To Anna, who never fails to bring characters out with such elaborate details that are fun to always look back on with Meredith. 

To Elise, who keeps RPs always spicy and fun and for collectively making all of us 🔪🔪🔪 against the character of Illinois Jones with Ramona and bringing in the live ape cam and being our trusty song blogger and tagger.  

Most especially, I’d want to thank Chris, beautiful and wonderful and ever patient Chris who listened to my own crack theories about everyone and for grounding me when things in the OC became overwhelming. I couldn’t have asked for a better co-host who brought to life half of the cast of characters we had, bringing in our steadfast Sam and our lovable Archie into the side romance team and making Sam and Archie her own characters which are better than any way I could have played them. It’s been an honor to be your co-host and you’re always one of my reasons for going at it. Here’s to retirement? HAHA

Lastly, Elise and Anna: who have made it literally phYSICALLY AND MATHEMATICALLY difficult to choose a winner between Ramona and Meredith, you’ve done both great jobs throughout this whole OC. Thank you for giving this so much of your effort and energy and making this such a difficult decision.

HELLO! for the last time from this account, I suppose, which is sad but refreshing at the same time... I have been feeling a bit emotional lately so I’m sorry if this gets... weird or like “what are you even talking about, Chris.” 

First of all you must remember how terrified I was to host an OC before I begged Anya to join the ride and I want to thank for all the encouraging and supportive words back then. It wasn’t so hard to convince me, but it was certainly hard to calm my nerves. You all did great at that! I’m glad you did because otherwise I really wouldn’t have done it and I would miss the opportunity to finally host with Anya. Many of you maybe don’t know but she and I had tried to host before a few times and... we are here now! at the end of this OC! All because she took well to accept me, and share with me all these characters she already had created. I’m still thinking Anya was incredibly kind to share Archie, Alessandra, Samuel and Bellamy for me to make them part mine to mess with hehe I certainly hope still I didn’t ruin the image she had of them. 

It was as challenging as incredible to host this OC along side with Anya. She always being ahead, anticipating things, using her magical and amazingly useful documents, sheets, CODE!! I was in awe! During this process we stressed, we work hard, we... get conflicted sometimes haha but not more than we enjoyed and scream with every epic moment you all help us create in rps and for that I’m beyond thankful. 

THANK YOU, really thank you for letting us meet these special ladies. Not only special as character but also as ideas that came out of your creative minds. I know how much energy, research and love it’s behind a character and having that in mind I am still excited about the fact I had the opportunity to interact with almost everyone of them!! I wish everyone could get someone but unfortunately, there’s a limit of voices I can keep inside my head before it explodes! But your characters were unique in their own ways and getting to know their goals, their motivations and their vulnerabilities was a BIG deal for me! Thank you everyone again for let them apply to this selection and making each rp this thing full of emotions!! jdfkjhgbfg Thank you also for bear with us! 

I still remember how HARD was to make decisions when it was my turn to make them and I really don’t miss those times but I still mean what I say on those posts. Thanks for going for the sides and show them so much love. I really enjoyed the fact they were able not only to find ~true love~ but also to develop nice and meaningful friendships.

I don’t address you individually because Anya already do that and I can’t do it better.

As I said we cried, we SCREAM (in a good and in a bad way sometimes), we get  🥺🥺🥺 but most of all I had and I’m still having FUN!!! My men got their good share of gorgeous, talented, and extremely wonderful girls courtesy of two excellent friends Emi and Ester who have been the most comprehensive and now have to deal with my ideas and my random babbling about future plans, etc... I really hope they have the nerve to shut me up when it’s needed hahaha. I know Archie and Samuel LOVE their girls SO SO SO MUCH no matter what they are saying or doing because you know men are dumb. 

In resume, recognition to everyone for the effort, for the creativeness, for being here despite how hard real life can get with school, work, thesis, family, holidays... In the end, the idea is to get some fun and nice distraction from all that, in this game. Hope you, after all enjoyed it as much as I did /do <333 

Recognition and standing ovation for Anya. I’m a witness of how hard he worked and how every decision she took was thoughtful and taken with the best intentions (including this last one. Believe me it took a while! We analyzed EVERYTHING! ) and even most of the times putting everything before her own health (tsk tsk) but I love this team we made!! <333

Practice Challenge + Side RP Sign Ups

Hey, everyone! The Practice Challenge is finally here to officially start this OC8! Remember that this challenge is entirely optional, but also recommended in order to let us all get to know your characters and their personalities. You have entire freedom about the theme of your fic but here are the prompts we usually use: 

Prompt 1: Life before the selection and journey to the palace:

How was life before the selection? (family, friends, province, workspace, struggles…)

Why did you decide to fill The Selection application letter?

How did you find out about the selected’s name being leaked by King Raphael during the Instagraph live that happened on August 31, 2170? (thoughts, reactions, comments, memes…)

Where were you when you find out you were selected?

Prompt 2:  Send offs, makeovers, and first day at Angeles Palace:

How was your send-off from your province? (occurred between September 6-7, 2170. )

How was your plane ride? (who were your plane mates?)

Makeover (which changes were made on your appearance?)

What did you do on your first day in the palace (on September 7th 2170.) (Who did you meet?)

Side RPs

Alrighty, with the practice challenge: we will also be opening up Side RPs (Roleplays that are not exactly required but are there for character interactions and stories) with the host characters. 

Here are some General Side RP Rules for OC8: 

Everyone will have a maximum of two (2)  RPs/requests at a time. You may only request another RP, when you will be posting anything from your backlog of RPs. 

RPs are required to be posted within two (2) weeks of their official end. An extra week of extension for posting may be requested with the hosts should the need arise (because real life happens).

As usual, we will be implementing a BYORPI or "Bring Your Own RP Idea" for every RP, meaning that the requesting participant must be the one to come up with the setting, idea, or gimmick for their RP-- but may coordinate with the hosts for some help.

Just to be transparent with you, we will be requiring you to post your RPs because we would want everyone to at least have access to what exactly is going on in the OC and to also keep the OC content alive and consistent throughout the entirety of the OC. 

Alright, now here are the Practice Challenge Side RP Guidelines:

Just like the previous OCs, all host characters (except King Raphael) will be open for RPs. Side romances (consisting of Archie, Bianca, and Sam ) will have two (2) slots open. And the rest of the family (consisting of Eleanor, Bellamy, Sylvan, and Sandra) will have only one (1) slot open. In the OC world, all of these RPs must happen between September 7-September 8 (until 3 PM).

Everyone will have the chance to pick 3 characters (1 main and two backups) to show their interest to have an RP with, but you may also opt to pick one if you’re dead set for a specific character only. 

Signing up for Side RPs will be open for two days and will close on August 9, 6:00PM (UTC -4:00). We will be randomly raffling off the spots for RPs based on your preference and announcing them on August 10, 6:00PM (UTC -4:00). 

Following the announcement of the randomized RP assignments, you will then have to fill up the RP Request Form so we can start monitoring everyone’s RPs and receive the formal request from your end. Every request you send will also be viewable in the SelectionOC8 Participant Notion, where you can also see the current load of each host. 

After filling up your RP request, you can then expect a message from the host in charge of your assigned host character so you may coordinate your specific prompt and set up the formal RP chat room.

❗ BREAKING NEWS: SELECTED NAMES LEAKED IN KING’S LIVE VIDEO ❗

And now we bring to you the final part of all the SelectionOC8 Reveal RPs and Fics. Please read this before reading the article below.

[FIVE: The Decision]

September 1, 2170 ANGELES, ILL | We’ve all been itching to find out the Ladies of the Selection ever since applications had closed earlier this week- but you won’t believe the events of yesterday!  Earlier on August 31, at around 9 AM: King Raphael Schreave, during a quick live video on Instagraph, accidentally showed the full list of Selected before immediately ending it. Many Illéans who watched the live ended up taking a screenshot of the list and managed to edit the video screenshots enough to circulate a list of names on social media.

A later press release released an hour later from the Office of Royal Communications confirmed this, and despite the King’s Instagraph mishap, he encouraged Illéa to stay tuned to the Report for the official release of the full list of Selected names and the King’s live and genuine reactions, as he had not read nor seen the names or details about the Ladies. The circulating list of Selected was shared online with Twits reaching 6-digits in shares and comments, garnering national and international attention. Illéans appear to be divided on this matter with a faction expressing their distrust and worry about how the King could let such a confidential document be seen in a live, while a greater number of people have theorized online that it was a Public Relations stunt to gain wider traction and attention on the Selection. No matter the reason for this, the list of Selected names were released via the screenshots of the live, the press release shared by the Royal family, and later on the Report, which happened at 8:00 PM that night.

Welcome to the 10th and FINAL day of Selection OC8 Reveals! (bET YOU WEREN’T EXPECTING THIS SO EARLY) We’ll get straight into it, because we’re tired of typing out [Redacted], and autocorrecting our phones, so SelectionOC8 friends, we present his majesty: King Raphael Schreave of Illéa!

Responsible. Authentic. Conscientious. 📰🤔📸 King Raphael Schreave, or Raffy to most of his close friends and family, is the current reigning monarch of Illéa. He had recently ascended to the Illéan throne last March 15, 2170, after the death of his father, King Remus Schreave. He is the only son between him and Queen Sirina Schreave (née Rajakanya) and is the nephew of King Sulak of Thailand and is the cousin of Crown Prince Bhumibol II. His majesty, currently holds a degree in Political Science with a Minor in Philosophy from the University of Caifornia-Berkeley, notably having entitled his final paper for his minor as “ Ethics and the Face and What We Owe to Each Other: The Good Place and Emmanuel Levinas, a Conjunction of Phenomenological Philosophy and 21st Century Media”. Raphael currently resides in Angeles Castle with his uncle and his family, having always been a reliable support system to one another no matter what. On July 27, 2170, the king had announced that he was to hold a Selection towards the end of the year.

Hey there everyone! Welcome to  Day 9  of the SelectionOC8 Reveals!

For our second to the last reveal, we have a young man who puts the charming in prince charming, but definitely has a smile that can be a little disarming, Twenty-Three:

Prince Archibald Schreave! 🧱🎉💘

Charismatic. Unpredictable. Creative. (The Architect)

Prince Archibald Nolan Schreave, is a Senior Member of the Royal Family, and is currently the Second-In-Line for the Illéan throne after his father, Prince Sylvan Schreave. He is the eldest child between him and Princess Bellamy Schreave and has had a life that has been so involved with the public. From his childhood, Archie carried a sense of charm and level of comfort in front of crowds and cameras that made him a media favorite— very much like his father before him when he was his age. However, the similarities end there. Archie has a given reputation of occasionally getting into trouble or situations that could raise eyebrows. What immediately comes into mind is Prince Archie’s car accident with his sister Austen in 2164, to which he was later charged with an underage DUI. Another thing that comes in mind? His highness’ erratic college major and location changes. However, despite having such a background: Archie has found a career path in what he loves doing the most: studying architecture. At present, Archie lives in Angeles Palace with his family and cousin, Redacted, while studying in his fifth and final year of architecture degree.

With another reveal, comes another piece of the puzzle. We present Part 3 of the reveal fics, this time partially in Archie’s point of view [Three- The Rush]

Welcome to SelectionOC8 Reveals Day 8!  Something’s got Sam worried.... looks like he’s gotta set off a signal... or shall we say a BEACON?  OC8 friends, we’re pleased to introduce the second love interest in the line up, a Palace Legacy, and a woman the Schreaves would call whenever a crisis is going on.... Miss Bianca Pal! 📞🤳📰

Intuitive. Formal. Bold. (The Beacon)

Bianca Pal is the 22-year-old Communications Lead for the Selection Committee and is a Head Communications Associate for the Office of Royal Communications. Bianca’s family has been working for the palace for several generations, and though Pal is a common surname given to  those working in the Palace (many of whom are unrelated), Bianca’s family had climbed up from humble origins to being Threes in high ranking positions. Bianca is also noted to being one of the closest people to Redacted, having actually gone to the same university as he did at the same time-- where a friendship emerged among the countless times Redacted carpooled with her. Still, Bianca’s whole life has always been defined as a part of a legacy, but she wants to do something beyond trying to clean up every single Schreave crisis that comes along. The Selection, to Bianca, is her first real chance of proving her capability and showing her parents that she could have a life beyond all of this.

Loyal. Caring. Protective (The Kingsman) 

Samuel (aka Seven) is the elder son in a family of Sevens. He was born on a ranch in Folsom, Midston where he worked as a stableboy for the o’Neil’s married couple until he decided to took an oath of Illéan military service, enlisting into the Illéan Army at his 17 years of age. He enjoys cooking and he is a highly skilled horse rider. After several months of intense training at the Fort Orsak camp and subsequently, at the Army Armour Center, Samuel was one of the few chosen by the Royal Household Regiment to be part of the Aurum Squadron of royal guards at Angeles’ Palace. His skills and qualities as a guard made him climb ranks periodically, but it was when Officer Sheridan successfully uncovered an attempt of the media to infiltrate into the palace grounds, that he was promoted to Kingsman, by no other than His Majesty King Remus Schreave. Samuel also became Prince [Redacted]’s personal guard and has been by his side for 6 years now. Currently First Sergeant of the Aurum Squadron and honored to be in charge to safeguard the King’s life.

Hi, SelectionOC8 Day 5 of reveals is here!

We bring to you:  

Princess Alessandra Loraine Schreave.  📽 📖 🦋

Intelligent, Perceptive, Dreamer (The Doll)  

Born on February 3rd, 2151 as Alessandra Atkins, until she was legally adopted by the Prince and Princess of Illéa, Sylvan and Bellamy Schreave on September 3rd, 2153 when she was two years old, changing her life forever. 

Before her, the royal couple had been looking for an opportunity to adopt a child for some time, but the process was complicated for them since any kid that would be welcome into the royal family should technically have no ties or family relations that could take advantage of the situation. This was when unexpectedly, life put Sandra in the Schreave’s way.  

The details about her adoption, the name Atkins, as well as Sandra’s origins have remained private from the general public and even from some of the members of the Royal family. This subject, in particular, has been one of the very few things the Schreave-Osteen family hasn’t shared with the people, in order to respect the young girl’s privacy, though that hasn't stopped the media from making any kind of speculations about it.   

The majority of adopted children are eager to know everything about their past, but despite her parents’ offerings to tell her more about her past, she hasn’t felt ready to hear the complete story, yet. 

Friends and acquaintances never cease to remind her how lucky she was to be adopted into the most powerful family of the country and she’s certainly grateful for it, though sometimes the disadvantages of living such a public life weigh hard on her. That sentiment often makes her feel guilty and scared to know what would be of her if Sylvan and Bellamy weren’t her parents. 

Asking more about her original identity would make it feel ungrateful, she really wouldn’t want a life without grandma Lele, Redacted and twenty-three... and even when their first meeting wasn’t the best twenty-one eventually became her sister and friend! Though if she was asked, she would gladly give up the luxuries in exchange to live a normal life out of the spotlight. 

That, as well as other characteristics they have in common, it’s what brings Sandra and Redacted closer as cousins, often feeling like brother and sister. 

Growing up watching movies with her sister and family, Sandra developed a love for the cinematic universe, which made her pursue a bachelor’s degree in film and media production. She is currently studying her sophomore year at Southern Angeles University (SAU). You often can see her carrying her DSLR ‘Fanon’ camera around the palace, filming here and there. She also enjoys playing the violin as a hobby and as a relaxing method when she needs it. 

Naturally, the previous tragic deaths in the Schreave family have been as hard for her as for everyone else, though she has always been there to support and cheer Redacted up back then and now with his upcoming Selection. Part of her knows this could be a positive experience for her cousin, but knowing him as she does, she can’t help to worry because the Selection could also be a door that opens both ways. 

The post is supposed to be a part of a script written by Sandra out of her memories and the stories her family had told her about the day she arrived to Angeles’ Palace, plus some additions she took the liberty to add. She writes this for fun and practice, not meant to be more than just a private thing for herself.

We introduce you to: Bellamy Schreave Osteen, Duchess of Waverly and Princess of Illéa.

Coming from a family of Fours, Bellamy never thought one day she would fall in love and marry a Prince, until life put her in a situation that woke her deepest ambitions and made her apply for [Uncle]’s unconventional Selection, which she won becoming his wife, proud mother of three and [Redacted]’s supportive Aunt. She will be in the palace to assist and guide the Selected on anything they need and supporting his nephew in this important stage of his life. The post is a compilation of magazine articles that together resume Bellamy’s life. Two of them written back on 2145 and the last one more recently September 1st 2170: Life before the Selection, her relationship with [Uncle] during the selection and her life after it. Tonight, we introduce someone you’ve never heard about, but would definitely want to talk to:

Queen Dowager Eleanor Schreave

Aka “Grandma Lele”, [Redacted]’s Grandmother!Cunning, Analytic, Resilient. Queen Dowager Eleanor never expected to become Queen when she fell in love with the youngest Schreave brother, a man whose older brother would eventually abdicate and name her love heir apparent and future king. Still, Eleanor was by his side and stood strong with similar values as her husband. Let’s get down to business, we are excited for you to meet Miss Twenty-One (well, she’s twenty but is turning 21 like 3 weeks after the Selection starts, because Anya wanted her to be a Libra so bad) : 

Princess Austen Schreave 💖💜

Bright. Bubbly. Hopeful. (The Socialite) The middle child of Prince Sylvan and Princess Bellamy Schreave, Austen is the older sister of Alessandra and the younger sister to Twenty-three. She currently is a senior member of the royal family but also works as a curator for the Illéan Commission on Culture and Arts and is their go to woman for finding and tracking pieces of royal collections that could possibly be donated to museums across the country. Austen recently graduated from Angeles University with a degree in Illéan History-Honors, and is noted to be inclined to fashion history, most especially dealing with the Schreaves. Aside from this, Austen is also the proud owner of three beautiful horses: Valentino, Vuitton, and Versace, as a former competitive equestrian.

Prince Sylvan Schreave

The younger brother of King Remus (aka Redacted’s father), Prince Sylvan is a close member of the royal family to Remus and his family, and has been residing in the Angeles Palace permanently since he started studying in Angeles University. He currently serves as a Senior Member of the Royal family, often giving his input within the King’s Council especially in trade and economics. In the three pictures, you’ll see (1) a magazine cover from 2144 when his Selection was first announced and (2) an article recently written after the death of King Remus about who should inherit the regency.
