question. when i replaced a tag all the posts showed up on my blog in chronological order and there is a LOT of cringe in my older posts. it will take forever to get rid of it. how do i fix this
is this happening in the dashboard blog view (/blog/blogname), on the theme view (blogname.tumblr.com), or when viewing just a specific tag? sometimes with large sets of posts tumblr can take a while to reindex the tag pages, that's the only time i've heard of something like this happening. in that case it would resolve on its own
anyway i can't replicate this on my end so if you can send a screenshot or more blog details off anon please do

quick fundraiser post
these are a few fundraisers i've been asked to share recently. i donated $25 to each and would love to see some matches, but smaller donations and shares are of course always appreciated
Help Asmaa to continue school outside of Gaza - $3,207/50,000 (reblogged by @/90-ghost) Asmaa is a computer engineering student who is raising money for her family to survive and eventually evacuate
Rebuilding Hope: Help Ezzedine Escape the War in Gaza - €166/20,000 (not yet vetted, but imo signs point to this being legit) Ezz and his family of 7 are displaced and sharing a single tent, and both him and his father lost their jobs
Amira's Story: Between Hope and Resilience - €22,214/29,000 (vetted by @/nabulsi) Amira is a 23 year old programmer and data science student who is providing for her family, including her sick mother, while all of them are displaced

Vetted family fundraiser masterpost 2
Version date: May 7th 2024.
Check in regularly on the original post when you see it being reblogged. In all likelihood once its reached you it's already outdated. This post is part of this masterpost series compiling fundraisers for Ghazzah and Sudan. I focus on Ghazzah as I am Palestinian and am more equipped to do verifications as I'm more familiar with my own country and its politics and dialect, but if I know a fundraiser for a Sudanese family is legit I will include it here. Here's a link to the first post of this kind.
Wisam Daoud (106). 7 family members. 15.1k out of 75k USD.
Sanaa Abu Ghaben (108). 25 family members. (1 INJURED, 1 SICK) 145 out of 100k CAD.

Vetted family fundraiser masterpost 1
Version date: May 7th 2024.
This is a masterpost for the evacuation fundraisers I've vetted so far. The numbers next to the names have no significance beyond ease of navigation for me for when I check their progress in the future. You should look at the disclaimers instead and focus on those. Occasionally I will update these with new info, including new fundraisers, and the amount of cash that's been raised. Check in regularly on the original post when you see it being reblogged. In all likelihood once its reached you it's already outdated. This post is part of this masterpost series compiling fundraisers for Ghazzah and Sudan. I focus on Ghazzah as I am Palestinian and am more equipped to do verifications as I'm more familiar with my own country and its politics and dialect, but if I know a fundraiser for a Sudanese family is legit I will include it here.

should be fixed. it was, in fact, special characters
good news is i finally replicated the bug so now i can debug it locally. stay tuned
#what threw me off is that it wasn't necessarily the find or replace tags having special characters. it was all of the tags on a given post#bug is actually in the tumblr.js library#(not surprising since this started happening when i had to upgrade the library)

Note
what does {"status":500,"statusText":"","body":{}} mean? it happens even for tags that have less than 500 posts in them if that's the issue. nothing seems to be happening at all
it's a generic error- could you describe exactly what you're doing when you get it? the blog and tags you're finding and replacing?

what is this
the tag replacer lets you find all your posts with a tag and replace that tag with another tag, or multiple tags, or remove the tag. you may find this useful when wrangling your tagging system.
it's really slow / takes multiple tries to get all my posts
for sets of more than 500 posts, we run into tumblr's API rate limits. i'm working on a workaround, but it's part of a larger refactoring project that i've been working on sporadically for 3 years.
XKit Rewritten's tag replacer uses a different API and is both faster and not subject to the same rate limits, so right now it's better for large sets of posts. however, it does not retain the order your tags are in.
it says it worked but when i go to my blog the tags are the same
sometimes posts on username.tumblr.com take a while to update- try viewing them on tumblr.com/username instead.
it's not working / bug report
please include as many details as possible, such as: the exact error message (if there is one) or a description of what's happening, the tags you're finding and replacing, and the blog you're using it on. screenshots or screen recordings are great if that's easier for you. i answer these messages privately when possible! you can also submit bug reports on github.

Tumblr.js is back!
Hello Tumblr—your friendly neighborhood Tumblr web developers here. It’s been a while!
Remember the official JavaScript client library for the Tumblr API? tumblr.js? Well, we’ve picked it up, brushed it off, and released a new version of tumblr.js for you.
Having an official JavaScript client library for the Tumblr API means that you can interact with Tumblr in wild and wonderful ways. And we know as well as anybody how important it is to foster that kind of creativity.
Moving forward, this kind of creativity is something we’re committed to supporting. We’d love to hear about how you’re using it to build cool stuff here on Tumblr!
Some highlights:
NPF post creation is now supported via the createPost method.
The bundled TypeScript type declarations have been vastly improved and are generated from source.
Some deprecated dependencies with known vulnerabilities have been removed.
Intrigued? Have a look at the changelog or read on for more details.
Migrating
v4 includes breaking changes, so if you’re ready to upgrade to from a previous release, there are a few things to keep in mind:
The callback API has been deprecated and is expected to be removed in a future version. Please migrate to the promise API.
There is no need to use returnPromises (the method or the option). A promise will be returned when no callback is provided.
createPost is a new method for NPF posts.
Legacy post creation methods have been deprecated.
createLegacyPost is a new method with the same behavior as createPost in previous versions (rename createPost to createLegacyPost to maintain existing behavior).
The legacy post creation helpers like createPhotoPost have been removed. Use createLegacyPost(blogName, { type: 'photo' }).
See the changelog for detailed release notes.
What’s in store for the future?
We'll continue to maintain tumblr.js, but we’d like to hear from you. What do you want? How can we provide the tools for you to continue making cool stuff that makes Tumblr great?
Let us know right here or file an issue on GitHub.
Some questions for you:
We’d like to improve types to make API methods easier to use. What methods are most important to you?
Are there API methods that you miss?
Tumblr.js is a Node.js library, would you use it in the browser to build web applications?

Note
is there a way to exclude posts from the search? like, i wanna add a tag to all art posts i havent already tagged the artist on to remind myself to go do that, but not have to go back and search for each and every one of the four dozen artists tags ive already tagged just to delete the untagged-artist tag
there is not, sorry! but i'll add it as a feature request.
