If asked to design the clown outfit from the ground up, what direction would you go in? I was curious because you said you liked the timeless and multi era qualities of the current one, but are there any features you'd like to have in your own version?

Honestly, I adore the weird mishmash doll-like vibe of 2017 Pennywise, I can’t imagine doing it any better. I think it says a lot more about the character than that mess that the 90s costume was, haha. 2017′s is very “this thing is Not Human but here’s what it thinks a clown would look like, maybe it picked up styles throughout the ages, or maybe it based its look off a doll from a kid”. There’s also something very unsettling about the fact that it looks like a giant child’s toy without looking traditionally cutesy or childish (even though Penny is Such a Bratty Child). 

I did kind of do my own vintagey mishmash clown costume design for Ladywise, though!
