Striped kimono.  Taisho period (1912-1926), Japan. A plain-weave silk kimono featuring evenly-spaced broad vertical stripes. Horizontally run red supplementary thread highlights, spaced unevenly. The use of plain weave yields a reflective sheen. Chirimen (crepe) bright green silk susomawashi (inner lower lining). The doura (upper inner lining) is of plain hand spun and woven silk. Cute cute, modern and stylish. Kitsch little sexy. Appeared suddenly in Japan of 100 years ago “Modern Girl”. In short hair, elaborate and makeup. Dress and high heels. Pretend to be a fascinating trench, in the duffel coat in winter. Going out to the department store in the “silver bra”, enjoy the cinema, take a break in the parlor and a cafe. Approaching the charm was the darling of the era of “Moga”, one book for the first time. Unpublished illustrations full.
