I finished all I need to do this morning so I have some free hours to explore it. I’m not silly to left all behind just for an impulse. First of all, I’m a good worker”.

Takahiro smiled brightly to him and frowned few seconds later when he found his friend were saying no to that bright idea. “Come on, I don’t wanna go alone. You know what happened last time. I found something with the spectrum machine but you didn’t believe me. I know it was a fail, I need to admit it, but it was kinda funny too.”

He smiled at his friend and sat in one of his black armchairs. “At least do you have some free time today... near midnight?” He knew it his skepticism. but he wanted to find someone interesting to do with him. He looked at him when he got up from his chair and rolled his eyes in a funny way. “And if I invite you another day to drink something... you will come with me?”

“Oh come on, you know who am I” he replied with sarcasm, grabbing the paper his friend were working on. “What a waste of paper. Anyways, I’m here for talking about a big plan I have on my mind. A really good one, believe me”.

Takahiro got up from the edge of his friend’s desk and walked around the room, sliding his finger for the shelves on his right. They were plenty of dust, and he frowned, wondering why he prefered work there and not with him.

“I think you’re rust here. Do you know there’s something called street?” he continued talking, knowing his friend started to ignore him, as usually.  Takahiro took off a sheet from his lab coat and placed it in front of the other doctor.  “I know you’re skeptical with it. I know it, but don’t tell me it will be great if we just go… to take a look, huh? Just you and I, you know, like the old times.”

Takahiro loved paranormal stories since he was a kid. He met Doctor Sakurai on the faculty and they become friends so easily. Takahiro knew he didn’t care about their “hobbies”, but he could necer stop himself when he started to talk about it.

People usually blamed to him for waste time with ghosts (and another strange things too), but Takahiro didn’t care about it. He finished his studies, and he started to work as a teacher on the same university on they two studied.

He never knew how to handle the quiet hour. The unexpected cancellations from his patients, that was something Doctor Sakurai had encountered before but he could never get used to it. He slowly span around on his black leather chair by his desk, staring at the ceiling, with his hands crossed over his lap. He was quiet and calm externally, but his mind was racing. All sorts of questions invaded his brain. Some of them deeper than others, some of them completely random. The one question that often made an appearance was related to the beliefs people have when it comes to the supernatural. This topic was something he personally found ridiculous, he carried strong skepticism towards it and refused to understand why there are people to believe in the G word. That’s right, ghosts. There was no such thing and Doctor Sakurai could never be convinced otherwise. 

The minutes passed by with a pace of a snail. The doctor tried to entertain himself with random activities. He stared at the shredder machine and sighed. He grabbed a blank paper and let it hover for a moment over the machine until he lowered it and watched it shred to thin slices. He repeated this few times, a little too amused as he casually wasted paper. 

When the door opened he looked up and abandoned his pointless task. “How many times do I have to tell you to knock? Come on,” he protested as he saw his old friend and wandered to take a seat on the edge of his desk. “What brings you here? I don’t remember us two agreeing on any appointments.”
