Hi fellow tumblers! My 9.5 years old cat had to get a 450€ surgery to extract a bladder stone after a 150€ doctor visit because she had blood in her pee :( I've only had a part time job since the beggining of this month and I barely make ends meet so let's say this is quite a strong blow. I've negociated w the vet so I'm allowed to pay in three times which is going to alleviate the load but yeah, I already had to pay 300€ of it.

I condone pyromania :DD Arson has environmental benefits!*

*In fact, prescribed burnings have been practiced by native americans for centuries! Its done to control invasive AND NATIVE species. Some stuff, for example canada goldenrod (solidago canadensis) is a native plant that is pretty freaking aggressive. A lot of mints can be too, considering that family readily seeds and spreads by rhizome. While goldenrods, common milkweed (Asclepias syriaca) and bee balm (mondara fistulosa) are all GREAT NATIVE PLANTS they can out compete other amazing natives due to their aggression.

Native plants tend to have deeper root systems (not all of them do) which allows them to survive the burnings! In fact, some plants like fire weed (Chamerion angustifolium) and California Rose mallow (Hibiscus lasiocarpos var. occidentalis) need hot stratification to germinate! A lot of plants native to California are actually adapted to frequent burnings. Theres also giant sequoias (sequoiadendron giganteum) that have flame resistant bark, and manzanitas (Arctostaphylos manzanita) that after being burned will regrow from root systems that can be up to hundreds of years old! All of which are becoming increasingly sparse in the land they grew with due to habitat loss, urban sprawl, and dams being built... :(( A big part of the reason California suffers such bad wildfires is due to invasive Eucalyptus trees and monoculture plantations (especially those that plant birch) in a cheap attempt to save the environment. We need native biodiversity, something that prescribed burnings helps with!

So all in all, wildfires are actually HIGHLY beneficial from population control and removing invasive plants, helping some plants complete their life cycle, and the leftover ash giving great nutrients for our beloved native plants to grow!

Some tips ive picked up from 2p mahjong!

First and foremost: PRIORITIZE SPEED OVER SIZE!

It seems like the programming sets you up decent from the get go, but you'll have to settle for cheaper hands half the time.

But it also sometimes sets you off with a good starting hand. If you can increase your hand size within very few turns, go for it!

Overall, speed is key to this mode. You cant lose points, so focus on just winning. With that said...

DONT BE AFRAID TO OPEN YOUR HAND!

As mentioned before, SPEED IS KEY! As long as you have some yaku requirement that isnt riding off of riichi, you're fine. Smaller hands will still keep you in first.

Open sided waits are a double edged sword!

Its a thing of neutral being, honestly. On one hand you have a higher chance of pulling your winning tile, but on the other your opponent will also have a higher chance of guessing it. Mahjong is subjective! Theory and practice are super complex, so strategy is key!

When they call riichi, guess the tile adjacent!

This is so stupid, but it works. If they discard, say, a three pin, try guessing a 1, 2, 4, 5 pin... its basic mahjong theory. Play like you WANT to deal in!

Guess terminals and middle tiles!

Again, simple mahjong theory. Especially when it comes to open sided waits. They just tend to have a higher probability.

Most of all, GO WITH YOUR GUT!!!!!!

Mahjong is mostly vibes. If your body tells you thats their winning tile, GO FOR IT! Its probably right. :)) If not, you can still guess again!

Extra:

I was gonna say something like "make your winning tile something unexpected!" Because you CAN manage to outsmart someone by having your wait be on a kita or something. Its just not a tile that comes up often, but this is highly subjective. Its not always practical because that "unexpected" tile will end up being a complete set in your hand meanwhile your wait is on a 3 sou! Also im over tired and probably talking nonsense! Snzzzzz...
