Life is already short. If you shorten your route, how sad would that be?

Life is a NOT a spectator sport...
At a recent memorial service of my son’s baseball coach, I was reminded once again how short and precious life really is. His brother spoke about all these things that he accomplished and ended with “Life is a not a spectator sport, you need to get in the game.” Wow. Strong. Yet true. As I see so many people on their smartphones, barely lifting their eyes to appreciate the color of the sky or the person speaking to them, they are simply living their lives in a perpetual Vine/Facebook/Tumblr feed, but others’ Vine/Facebook/Tumblr feeds....instead of living out loud, living now, playing their game, their game of a lifetime. I know Coach was not ready to leave, he definitely had more life to live. He had plans. It is incumbent on us, those that are living, to continue to live for those who did not get a chance. Those that did not reach teen years, the high school years, the college years, the getting married and starting a family years, the starting their own families years, the becoming grandparents years, the getting old together and celebrating 50 yrs of wedded bliss years. Do not take one breath for granted...which leads me to another quote: Life is a gift, that is why it is called the “present.” Unwrap your gifts daily.
