Yeosang dropped some lore during his appearance on LeoJ's make up channel. He rebelled against his father and even left home for a few days because he wanted to become a singer.
Remember, his parents are math professors and his sister is also a genius.
After getting into an elite private school, he went to his teacher and said he might not be able to do evening self-study sessions because his career path wasn’t in that direction. The homeroom teacher said it probably wouldn’t be allowed by the school, but secretly gave him permission anyway. He went to register at a music academy - but the director of music academy immediately told him to go audition.
Yeosang at BigHit
As you know, Yeosang was a trainee at BigHit with Wooyoung (in an alternate universe, they debut in TXT). His experience at BigHit was allegedly awful, something he alludes to in his 8 Face documentary episode.
Yeosang left BigHit thinking he would return to his studies, but he remained a highly desirable trainee, and many companies vied for his attention. According to Yeosang, it was meeting the members that confirmed KQ as the right choice.
Yeosang's audition tape for KQ
And where Yeosang goes, Wooyoung follows:
This was a really great episode and I loved hearing Yeosang talk about his journey. So much of what he endured has become part of his character's backstory in the lore: a bird trapped in a gilded cage, who finds his voice and his passion when he encounters the other members.
Zero: Fever Part 1 Diaries
In the lore, Yeosang's father owns the warehouse and prevents them from using it. Having lost their sanctuary, the boys initially separate but are brought together by Hongjoong, who uses the Cromer to send them to World Z. Yeosang writes a letter to his father from World Z, expressing his regret and determination to find his happiness.
When they travel to World Z, Yeosang is captured by the guardians and imprisoned in a glass box, enduring torture so horrendous he wishes to feel nothing. He's eventually rescued by the other members, but the trauma lingers.
Fever: Epilogue Diaries
Having returned to World A during the Golden Hour series, Yeosang has become rich and successful. Yet, he's clearly uneasy at the thought of ending up like his father.
His internal conflict is put into stark relief when compared with Wooyoung, who has not yet given up on their dreams:
It's this rift between best friends that seemingly prompts Wooyoung to activate Sopro to bring everyone together once more.
But as it turns out, Yeosang was secretly hoping for the same thing:
GH3 Diary
Activating the Sopro also activates Yeosang's trauma from his time imprisoned by the Guardians.
There's plenty to consider about how the lore reflects the members' lived experiences. Yeosang's storyline is perhaps the most blatant example of this, which really makes you wonder how much trauma Yeosang continues to carry from his early trainee days.
Still, everything I've heard and read about Yeosang's journey to ATEEZ and his continuing development as an artist (including his recent transformation) makes me respect and admire his courage and talent.
To use his own words from Legacy, "No force can break me now!"
#ateez#yeosangieeeee ahhhhhh#😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭#dont mind me#actually crying#yeosangie#Ueueueueeuueueueueueeeeeee#🥹🥹🥹😭😭😭😭😭😭#rbs

ATEEZ Japanese Single Tournament!
With a new Japanese comeback around the corner, let's come together as a fandom to decide ATEEZ's top Japanese track!
ROUND ONE: Birthday (#8) vs. Blue Summer (#9)
(also in round one)
youtube
youtube
I included singles originally released in Japanese (no Japanese versions of songs) and only songs by ATEEZ (no collaborations with Be:First). Like my previous tournament, I seeded songs according to their streams on spotify. The top seeds have a first-round "bye" and will compete in the second round.

Do you know this? My hyung… I’ve actually been to the Boryeong Mud Festival when I was a kid. It’s because - my hyung once participated in the Boryeong Mud Festival, a long time ago. So our whole family went to watch him when he was doing that. That day, if I remember correctly, the closing performance was by Yoon Dohyun sunbaenim - YB (Yoon Band). I remember singing along to “Flying Butterfly” right in front of the stage during the night festival. I think at that time, my hyung went there for kendo. There was some kind of talent show or something like that, and he placed pretty high, I think. So he ended up going to do kendo. I remember that was before he started doing modern dance. That hyung was really good at kendo. He was always good at physical stuff since he was young. And whatever sport or activity my hyung tried, I always ended up trying it too. I’d follow him and tell my mom and dad, “Since hyung is doing it, I want to do it too!” So I’d go do it as well. But the thing is, hyung would usually keep doing it until he basically mastered it, while for me - I guess as the younger sibling - it was hard to keep doing something when the older sibling was already really good at it.
Because honestly, the first comparison people make is always between family. And for people like me, if there’s someone better than me - and the gap is too big - I tend to give up pretty easily. That’s just how I was as a kid.
But something happened. When you learn kendo, there’s this thing where you blow out a candle with the sword - that’s part of the evaluation, like a monthly demo in front of your parents. My brother would go “shhhk!” and blow the flame out cleanly with his sword - he was great at it. All the students did it.
So then, it was my turn. I don’t know how accurate my memory is - there might be some exaggeration, so I ask for your understanding. Anyway, I swung the sword - and the candle flew off. It broke apart. Not all of them, but a few flew off. It was kind of like that scene Kim Gookjin did on Radio Star, if you’ve seen it - it flew dramatically. There are a few versions of this, depending on the martial art - in taekwondo you can blow it out with a punch, in kendo there’s a specific form - and if I remember correctly, I did it with a sword. I swung - tara-rak! - and the candles flew off. I even have this vague memory of one flying toward my hyung’s face and grazing it slightly. But the crazy thing is, even when the candle holder broke, if the wick is still lit, it doesn’t go out. So I remember not being able to put it out at all. Even when the candleholder breaks, if the wick stays, the flame stays. That’s when I learned something. So basically, I was the kid who hit the candleholder. That was my great achievement.
Anyway, that happened. And in taekwondo too - ah, I really should eat and head out now, but this is getting too fun - in taekwondo, there were sparring matches. I think it was some kind of tournament at our taekwondo school. It was a big event, I think we went to Kukkiwon? Somewhere like that. There are events where you demonstrate forms, and others for sparring. They’d divide us into groups of four and rank us 1st to 4th. Each group would get awards accordingly, and then 1st place winners would advance to finals. If you were in last place in your group, you’d get a participation award. 3rd and 4th got that, while 1st and 2nd went on. I was younger, so I went first. I remember winning a medal and being super excited. I didn’t really understand how it all worked, but I had a medal in hand and was proud. My hyung was getting ready for his turn, so I ran to him, like, “Hyung, I won a medal!”
And he hugged me, like gently wrapped my face - I remember that. But it turns out I had actually received a participation medal. But that medal looked like a bronze one - it was bronze-colored and on a ribbon. Still, I was happy. I thought of it as a bronze medal, so I wasn’t upset. Though honestly, I don’t even know what exactly I was happy about. Maybe I won one round and lost one? Or maybe I lost both - I’m not sure. But I had a medal, so I went and showed it off as a participant. My hyung hugged me, and that was it. From what I remember, he did really well and won a good prize that day.
We actually have a lot of stories like that. Of course, they might not all be 100% accurate. Some of you might think, “Isn’t he exaggerating a bit?” - and honestly, maybe I am. Some of it could be dramatized. It’s been a long time, so my memories are all kind of jumbled and re-written in parts. I hope you’ll understand.
There are a lot more stories - like funny ones from when I played soccer. Didn’t I tell you about my mom’s hidden athletic ability? There’s this story about me secretly playing soccer even though my mom was part of the school’s sports promotion committee. I secretly joined a soccer tournament, got a team uniform and hid it - but my mom turned out to be on the school’s Sports Promotion Committee. Then the coach put me in defense, but I played like a striker, and got subbed out. There’s also a story where I wanted to be a forward, but they made me a defender, and I started attacking anyway and got subbed out again. So yeah, I’ve got a lot of funny sports-related stories. If you ever feel down, like you’re having a rough or sad day, let me know - I’ll share some more to cheer you up.
Honestly, I was kind of a “Problem Kid” too. You know how Wooyoung is sometimes called a Problem Kid? I don’t give him a hard time about it - because I was one too, back in the day.

The Dilfjoong Rankings
This post ambushed me on Twitter today.
I'm sharing it here because YOU DESERVE NICE THINGS!
YES, YOU!!!
And I'm going to rate these dilfjoongs on the dilf-scale, and you will trust my rankings (or fight me in the comments!)
8/10 the turtleneck and glasses were giving dilf, but there's something too impish in his expression to make me go higher.
6/10 can one be a lesbian and a dilf? Of course, and Hongjoong surely tries here but I'm just not feeling the styling.
7/10 He had me in the first half, but then he turned around and I let out a cackle at the campiness of his blazer coat. This is like business cosplay by a broadway designer.
9/10 NOW WE'RE TALKING! YES, NO MAKE UP; YES, CASHMERE COLLARED SWEATER; YES SLEEVES ROLLED UP AND HANDS TUCKED IN POCKETS!
next up!
9/10 YES! ANOTHER WINNER! It's the short sleeves, the watch, the pants (THE PANTS!), the bag strap...he's in total dilf drag right now and the dilf-iest thing of all is his vaguely annoyed expression.
7/10 Most of these points are for the hand on the chin.
And forget that I was writing this after taking an edible and my first thought was to compare Hongjoong to Phoenix Wright .
ANYWAY...
5/10 Don't be fooled by the suit. This is not dilfjoong, this is babygirljoong.
10/10 I hadn't seen these images before and I actually gasped. The rumpled suit clothes are one thing (and they are a BIG thing, we'll discuss in another post) and it's not only that he looks like he's been pounding back the scotch after a long day at the office. It's that I know from his posture that he is in CAPTAIN mode, speaking for the members about their concept and music. IT'S HOT WHEN HE DOES THAT.
9/10 I love this genre of Hongjoong. The ridiculous watch and the bags under the eyes are really doing it for me.
8/10 I really wish I could rate this one higher, but the purple hair docks some points. However, let's not dismiss the dilf potential. That tie needs to be loosened just a hair. And I either need full bang coverage or total forehead exposure. Nothing in-between.
4/10 Nope. Another excellent example of corporate camp though.
9/10 This is what Hongjoong is going to look like in 20 years, mark my words.
6/10 Very good effort, but it's dilf-diluted
10/10 There is no denying Producer Hongjoong. He is the ur-dilf. He is the dilf that all other dilfs aspire to be. The more strung out, the better.
Thank you for reading my silly post and I wish you all a good night!

I've been wanting to talk about this video for a while, I want to start by reminding you that these are just my observations and trips, I am not affirming anything, even because I am just a fan and I have no real contact with them, but omg how I find this video so endearing because Mingi doesn't take ONE step back, he doesn't turn his face away 1 single milimeter. This entire part, from dance break to this interaction, lasts like 20 seconds. He doesn't know what's going to happen because in this part of choreography with Wooyoung this doesn't happen and Yunho was replacing Wooyoung and he doesn't know that Yunho planned it, Yunho himself says in a live that he didn't know he was going to do this, he was just "feeling" the song, and Mingi just go with him, without know if he's going to kiss him, bite him, slap him, he's just ready for whatever Yunho wants to do with him. His face maybe does it mimic a bit of what he might have seen in Yunho's eyes? (this is totally in my mind, you can call me crazy, its ok) Like "Are you going to bite me? I'm ready. Are you going to lick me? Kiss me? Do whatever you want." In pop live Yunho does after this, he says that he left finger marks and redpness on Mingi's chest and said he thought he was going to get bitten and that he finds it funny. And Yunho just makes a joke "Oh, I said I would go for him." He finds it funny.
It makes me speechless and endeared at how confident Mingi is and how much he gives himself to Yunho on stage (and if we remember other situations off stage, he has the same dedication, the same confidence that Yunho will do the best for both of them). They had already done something a little similar at the beginning of the group and while all the other members and the audience were shocked, they were absolutelly calm.
For me, this is the kind of surrender that I only saw in movies and books, and that's why it's so fascinating. Every part of Yungi's lore, all about their story, always makes me wonder how this can be real, what is it about Yunho that awakens this loyalty and trust into Mingi?
And they keep this "scene" while Wooyoung is recovering from his health problem. When Wooyoung comes back, Mingi tries to repeat with him sometimes but Wooyoung walks away in middle scene or look a little scared and you can see his disappointment, until they just give up on reproducing the scene and back to original choreography. Don't get me wrong, it's still very sexy, but you see Woo step back by the intensity
So it's kind of a two way street, maybe? Mingi trusts that Yunho will do what's best for both of them and Yunho knows that he won't react badly and will walk with him, so he can do improvise and feel on stage whatever he wants
If you want to watch full performance just click here
#ateez#my feed is just full of yungi now#honestly i hadnt noticed mingis charm that much until recently#I saw a post or two that made me think and since then ive been paying more attention to what mingi says/how he acts#and honestly hes just so cool#weird/unique yes; but cool#i think perhaps i never understood him well bc hes so radically different than me#but after looking again from a different angle#ive really come to truly appreciate him#his perspective and his ideals#minki#yunho#rbs
