You had known better than to try to venture into a more populated area with your preheat scent coming off in thick, random waves. “Should we look for him?”

“No, it’s probably best to just wait for him here, he’ll find his way back.” You both stepped to the side, out of the way of the flow of people.

You continue scanning the crowds for your alpha for the next few minutes, a little bit nervous once you notice how warm your cheeks are, and the way your beta keeps looking to the side to you. How unfortunate for you to lose track of Mirio just before this. Tamaki is suddenly pressed against your side again. You turn to ask him if it’s that bad when an unfamiliar voice speaks up.

“Excuse me, sweetheart,” you turn to see a rather unpleasant looking person approach you both. “Would that particularly delicious scent be coming off of you?”

You step back, closer to Tamaki as this person continues to come closer himself. He glances between you and your beta before smiling.

“Hah? You really telling me that a sweet smellin’ omega like you is with this weak little beta like that?” The guy barks out a laugh, cornering you and Tamaki a little tighter. Your beta’s arm wraps around you protectively and you can see the way his jaw clenches, tight and rigid.

“Leave us alone,” your beta snarls out, and you feel the chill the noise gives you through your entire body. You hadn’t heard him sound so aggressive before.

“Or what? You gonna fight me, scrawny?” The stranger laughs loudly like it’s the funniest thing he’d heard in his life. The ugly sound is ended quickly though, in a flash of blond hair, familiar blue eyes and a strong scent that immediately puts you and Tamaki at ease. It seemed to do the complete opposite for the obnoxious stranger, as you noticed he seemed to almost jump out of his skin when your alpha placed a large hand on his shoulder.

“Well well, and just what do you think gives you the right to harass my beta and my omega?” Mirio’s aggressive demeanor was only lightly masked by his usual pleasant and friendly tone. The annoying stranger picked up on it almost immediately, realizing that he would not be lasting long in the fight that he himself had picked.

“Nn- No, sir! I meant no disrespect to you I had just..” The stranger was obviously at a loss, and it made both you and Tamaki snicker, now having the upper hand against the absolute asshole.

“No, you meant no disrespect to me, of course, you don’t seem to be that dumb. But disrespecting my beta? Now that’s something only an extremely stupid person would do.” You could see the way Mirio’s hand tightened over the stranger’s shoulder.

“I’m so, so sorry,” the stranger whimpered out.

His mind goes nearly blank, only thinking of the intent way that he knows Mirio is watching you both. You get him to let go of his worry over it as press your lips to his, moving them against his before pulling back.

Tamaki stares up at you, dazed and flustered. You giggle at the spaced out look before turning to your alpha again, adorned with a smile that showed how pleased you were about it. The beta turned his head to meet Mirio’s gaze again. Mirio doesn’t hesitate in swooping in and capturing your Tamaki’s - very much your beta’s- lips in his own harsh kiss, and holding it for a while.
