Good morning booklovers! Hope you're all doing well. I am not so much active with book reviewing nowadays. But I am reading.đ Recently finished this book written by Sanjib Chattopadhyay, a Bengali literature. This book depicts the harsh truth and reality of Kolkata and it's people. The author made the book humorous, but I didn't get 80% of the humor and also the humors I didn't like that much. I couldn't agree with few mindsets he tried to describe about my city. Didn't enjoy my second read of 2019 at all.đ My rating : â/5 Qotd: Have you read the book? Did you like it? #BookReview đ Rating: âââ.75/5 Name : Strokes of Life Author : Anish Jha Publisher : Media Publishing and Content Strokes of life is a lifelong story of love, emotion, guilt and holding on of two people Raj and Vira. Raj and Vira both were office colleagues, who were unknown to each other in the beginning. But a sudden official trip to Switzerland, changed and revolved their life like a roller costar. The trip was the big switch to their life, where they found their love for each other. So, from there their lifelong journey gets started. They went across various obstacles to finally be together, marry each other. Raj, was very hard working towards his career, as he wanted to be a promising writer. Vira was also giving a good company with him in their path of life. But, life was not easy for them, they came across the biggest mishap in their life, when they wanted to have a baby of their own. And, thatâs where their journey separated. The novel tries to portray the harsh reality of relationships in the society, the arrogance, the lack of compromise which is leading to breakups and separations nowadays. I really liked the kind of scenario the author depicted. We can find many number of Raj and Vira around us, who are going through this kind of life. The writing style is lucid and the narration is really pretty. At some point of time, it turns out to be cheesy, but the storytelling was pretty good. The characterization was well developed. Only the presence of a bit more twists and turns could have made the storyline more intriguing. I recommend this to people, who wants to read the Romance Genre, as it illustrates a huge realistic scenario. "The difficulties of the dead leave along with them, those of the living are here to stay" Finally done with reading the first book of 2019, and as I said this year I am going to read only some of the best books of my TBR. This book has taken all my heart out. "Poonachi, or the story of a black goat", is the tale of a baby goat, about how she deals with life, her weaknesses, how she overcomes all her difficulties. This novel brings in front poverty, love for animals and everything altogether. The name of the human characters are not provided in the group, rather we can see names and descriptions of every animal present there, which makes the plot more beautifully decorated. It made me think a lot about how animals are leading their life, it's not easy, not at all, to lead the life of a goat. They also have a life, they also have emotions. The translation is so good, and the descriptions along with the plot is magnificent. Perumal Murugan is actually a genius story teller and this book deserves to get all the attention. All the stars and loves to this beautiful piece of art.â¤ď¸ (at Kolkata) https://www.instagram.com/p/BsN7JnRnM6T/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=sjkskvz1ue06

#BookReview ~ Rating : âââ.75/5 ~ Name : The new Dewtas Author : Suraj Kothiyal Publisher : inkstate ~ This book can be considered as to be in the Genre of Mythological fiction. The cover is very much beautiful and intriguing along with the title and blurb, that made me interested in reading the book. The story starts with the protagonist Neer, who is the head priest of Himalayas. He has a supernatural power of having future visions, that can help the people in his surroundings. Neer was a powerful man with a blue stone with him. Without is he seems to be weak and sick. He starts his journey to the islands of Bali, with the prince of Bali, Erlangga, and the commander of army of the prince, Kebo Chiwa. After a lot of hustle and bustle, they reached to the island of Bali. Bali, that suffers from cyclic agony of some evil powers and heavy rainfall. The island is in the verge of getting destroyed for all the constant ambush itâs facing. The story revolves around the journey of Neer along with prince Erlangga, about how they can solve the mystery of the island, how they can protect the island from the witch power, from evils like Sekala and Niskala, how the power of Neer rescues the island, with the help of Eka-Dasa-Rudra, who created an incandescent energy, Rudra. âď¸ The author tried to make the story very gripping till the end, with a intriguing plot. âď¸ The rituals and everything about Bali, that has been described throughout the story is really fascinating. âď¸ There were limited number of characters in the story avoiding extra characters, which make the story more easy to read. âď¸ In the midway, the story somewhere misses itâs potential, but the ending was commendable. âď¸ The character development could be better, as I found Neerâs character was missing the charm somehow. Conclusion : Overall mythological fiction lovers like me, can go for giving it a read, itâs short and interesting with a fascinating plot. #BookReview ~ Rating : âââ.5/5 ~ Name : You Begin Where I End Author : Sarang Jairaj @powerpuffwords Publisher : Srishti Publishers ~ The story has starts with the protagonist Nafisa, who gets ditched by her boyfriend who had a sick mentality of calling her âFatâ. Nafisa is also someone who considers herself to be a panda, who sometimes suffers from an inferiority complex. After this sudden heartbreak she joins a dating app and finds Amar there. They both spend time together and everything turns out to be well. In the meantime, Nafisa also starts using Quora and finds out Kiaan there, with whom she starts exchanging letters. Everything goes on well until a shocking incident happens in Nafisaâs life and thatâs the inevitable death of her mother, after what Nafisa finds out her mother Tamannahâs diary and finds out about the struggle in the ways of the life of her mother. In the novel we find out two love stories, one is Nafisaâs own, with two people in her life Amar and Kiaan and other is Tamannahâs. We find two generations here. We can find a mother daughter relationship, the relationship of a husband wife, the bonding among friends, which made the story well decorated. I loved the story telling of the author. The scribbles of Tamannahâs diary that the author put, is really satisfying. The thing that I missed in the plot, is the generation gap. I wish there was some gap between Nafisa and Tamannahâs life, because at some places it seems that there are no differences between the generations. The language is lucid. There are limited number of characters and the story is not dragged at all, which is really good, making it a short time sarcastic and dramatic read. My favorite character was Tamannah, I loved the way she dealt with her life, without making any mess out of it. Recommend this to all of you, if you want to read something light, humorous, you can pick this up. (at Kolkata) https://www.instagram.com/p/Br1i2ZzncBi/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=6z6v05enke9i

QOTD : What's your favorite thriller novel? Mine is : Gone Girl #BookReview Rating : âââ/5 Name : Death and Dishonor Author : Abhimanyu Saxena and Tanmoy Basak Publisher : Kalamos literary Services Death and Dishonor is the debut novel of the authors. This is a crime thriller, which says âRevenge is everythingâ. The story started with the police officer Arjun Rathore, who is leading a happy life with his wife Shikha. But after the menacing death of his wife, he lost his job for an unforeseen incident, which turned him to a drunkard. Later on, he got accused for murdering his childhood best friend Aditi, who was a journalist and who stumbled on some really harsh secrets about some high level politicians. And, the story revolves around the protagonists journey of revenge. I found the character of the protagonist Arjun very complicated. The story seemed to be perfect for a movie script. There are many twists and turns, which makes the plot more intriguing. The plot at many places can look confusing, but the use of language is lucid and authors tried to make it unpredictable at every pace. I recommend this to thriller lovers, it can be a good one time read for you. #BookReview ~ Rating : ââââ/5 ~ Name : Gwal Mudra Author : Khushwant Singh @eccentric_mystic Publisher : Kharag Waryaâs Publishing ~ This is the first book that I read by the author. So I didnât have an idea what and how the author writes. When I saw the cover of the book, I thought there will be stories of mythology, in which we will visit the teachings by Lord Krishna. But NO! The author took me through a totally different journey, which I could have never imagined. The author has practiced Jaati Smaran for fifteen long years and revisited his two past lives through meditation. And, in this book he has penned down his journey in both lives. As per him, in his first life he was born as Janak Pratap in Baldeo, Vrindaban who was very furious person and got married to Samta who was the daughter of the townâs one of the richest persons. So, his bravery had taken more furious turn when he got the powers of his father-in-law and lust, greed had occupied him in such a way, that he dealt with his life in the most drastic way and ended it miserably. We come to know how Karma serves you what you deserve. In his second life, he was born as a girl, who along with her friend was sold to a brothel in their childhood. Later on, she manages to devote herself to Lord Krishna, by becoming his disciple. We can see the teachings that she got from Lord Krishna, about life, love, lust, money, religion everything. There are different views about many things where you may not agree with the author, but different people have different perspective of thinking. The ideas of meditation, concentration that has been described in few chapters are really commendable. I will definitely try those things in my real life. This book has given me more detailed and developed idea about life. The writing is so profound, with detailed descriptions of the experiences and events, that makes the book more perfect. The characterization is pretty well developed. If you want to read something, which can make an impact on your life, which can make you learn something new, about yourself, life, love, about mythology, meditation, grab this book as soon as possible. #BookReview ~ Name : The diary on the fifth floor Author : Raisha Lalwani @raishalalwani Publisher : Rupa Publications @rupa_publications ~ Thank you @vinfluencers for the copy. ~ The story revolves around the Protagonist Savannah Khanna, who has decided to visit a renowned Psychiatrist Dr. Rana Berry, to cure the problems (mental health problems) that she is facing in her daily life. She hesitated for consulting a psychiatrist for her issues, so she wanted to lie to the doctor, but the doctor soon comes to know about the truth. Savannah is a 25 year old woman, who is fully disturbed with her life, the people in her life, the daily incidents that she is observing in her life. So she started writing a diary, where she scribbled down all her experiences, thoughts everything. The novel revolves around basically many short stories, that Savannah actually wrote from the incidents she experienced. Itâs a collection of some short stories written by Savannah in the diary form. Stories those are filled with incidents that describe lust, betrayal, superstitions, crime and many harsh truths of the society. Itâs about how the doctor tried to cure a pure disturbed soul like Savannah. The blurb as well as the cover is a bit misleading. The novel is dark, as it's on mental health, it becomes disturbing sometimes. The writing style is lucid enough for beginners. Some people can enjoy it, some can find it very much disturbing. It depends on what kind of a reader you are. I liked the novel. It's a one time read and some of the stories really effective enough, that describes the harsh reality of the current society. #BookReview âď¸ Thank you @_soulful_quote for the copy. âď¸ Name : My love is away from mortality Author :Vansh Arora Publisher : Kalamos Literary Services âď¸ This is the Debut novel of Vansh Arora, where the author made a plot connecting romance and mystery altogether. The cover is actually meaningful, where you can see smoke around the âLoveâ sign, which can grab your attention at the first place. The story starts with Manav, who is a very casual and careless kind of a guy, a football lover from heart, but has no interest in his studies, rather he loves sleeping more than anything else in this world. Aditi, the second protagonist in the other hand, is a pessimistic personality, who occupies herself with studies always, a perfect geek in nature, who also suffers from anxiety and complexity for her looks and structure. These two people met in their schools, and started depending on each other from where the story starts, and their everlasting friendship continues in such a way that they started developing feelings for each other. But, as we know life changes when we appear in college life, and relationships change when people go distant from each other. This is what happened with both of them. They started going away from each other when they appeared in a different life, in their college life. Though they always craved for each otherâs presence and succeeded in confessing their love for each other, but life takes a U turn for them and profound immortality starts influencing love. Letâs not give any spoiler alert. But the love story along with the haunted clips that the author describes in between, which becomes the climax in the end, is commendable. The writing style was good and storytelling was well enough. The author tried to put anger, faith, love, lust, evil all the things at a place. There are many good reviews about the book, but I didnât find the story to be appealing for me, because somehow I couldnât connect with neither the plot nor the climax. #BookReview â3.5/5â Name : *Some Text Missing* ( A tale of five eggs that didnât shatter ) Author : Joyal Lobo The cover is mesmerizing. It grabs your attention, as it describes five eggs with five different expressions, the story also has the same thing to tell. The story starts with an aspiring writer Jude, who has provided the draft of his book, which he wants to get published, in Excel publishing house. The story is the manuscript of Jude, which starts with five different characters, who were newly admitted students in an Engineering college, as below : Zuber : He is a Kashmiri soul, who has a very devastated past, from losing his mother, to losing his first love. Jasper : Jasper, a wanna be writer and an artistic mind, who just came to do engineeeing by mistake, and his previous relationship and engineeeing both becomss the most spooky memory for him. Nobey : Nobey is a very calm person from the outskirts of Meghalaya, a bibliophile in nature. His character is not equally developed like others in the story. Randeep : He is a Punjabi guy, and people often makes fun of him for his fluffy figure. This character is also not developed much like other characters. Arun : Arun is the most powerful character in the story. This character is very well developed. If somebody tells me, to find a protagonist in this story, it has to be Arun. Being from a family, with a drunkard father and a hard working mother, he has seen a lot of trouble in life. Engineeeing was something through which he wanted to prove himself in. From being a smoking and drinking addict and in all imperfect relationships, and then turning to be a person with perfect values and ethics, this character has been well developed in the story. On a note , this is a story of this five peopleâs journey in their engineeeing life, which has many ups and downs, and how they have become successful in their respective lives. The writing style is lucid, with simple words. Somewhere the story missed to have the twists and turns, but overall can be a good read for the beginners, basically students appearing in college and new to reading can enjoy this, as it depicts the whole âmasalaâ of the college life.
