I guess it's time for a bittersweet Post Nova Recoveryspar! (2024) You guys might have noticed: I love stories with adult characters being conforted by a childhood memory! In this case, I once drew Gneiss giving baby 'Spar a fish-shaped plushie (a sketch that I can't find lol) and I wanted to use it again! And now that they're sick again after coming back from Dark Bramble, they might need their buddy! Also yes, Slate and Feldspar used to share a cabin. Gossan or Hornfels wouldn't have survived living with any of them two, with the crazy projects and explosions... When Feldspar disappeared, Slate refused to touch anything related to Felds, and left everything upstairs (Feldspar's part of the cabin) to collect the dust. They tried to clean most of it when Feldspar got back. I really enjoyed drawing Slate with just a sweet face. I wanted to give them that "I really want to hug you" expression. They're just so happy to have their best bud back, and really worried about their health... and a bit guilty for thinking they were dead this whole time.

Feldspar Meets Hatchy! (2023)

Just a cute piece of lore with Feldspar, and a baby Hatchy in bonus! I like to imagine that Feldspar loves the hatchlings! They're not very present to spend time with them, but they at least want to be present when a new one hatches! (It has ties to my Sick Feldspar headcanon; they like to make sure the newborns are healthy and thriving) (Gossan is also very obsessed with babies, but they already had their time to baby-talk to Hatchy for hours. Felds is just late to the party) Also, in the headcanon side: I believe that baby Hearthians develop way quicker than human babies. They can crawl when only a few weeks old, and they hatch with a full set of teeth.

OUTER WILDS ECHOES OF THE EYE SPOILERS!! DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVEN'T FINISHED THE DLC

i finished outer wilds for the first time about a week ago, and have only just finished the dlc now. the original ending already broke me, but the ending with the prisoner just made me absolutely lose it.

having to extinguish the pictures of the hearthians on timber hearth, the children... quite literally watching their lives be snuffed out.

the prisoner's bed and grave sprouting flowers....

the prisoner not expecting you to let them join, having already accepted that this could be the end for them, they've already made peace with it.

they quite literally gave up their life for the brief hope, the slightest chance that someone, anyone, could hear the eye in the few seconds they allowed the signal to continue. they were banished for eternity, left in the dark literally and metaphorically for over 300,000 years, not knowing if their action even had any impact.

and they live on. thanks to you. their memory is preserved, it doesn't fade into obscurity and die with the universe. they are given a second chance after having everything ripped away from them.
