So true! Will’s love is one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen in fiction. It’s selfless and unconditional. The purest form of love. ❤️

The way Will’s love is depicted not as “I want to be with you romantically” but as “I want to just be around you for the rest of my life but not as much as I want you to be happy so if those two are contradictory, I’ll go. To grow old together as best friends would be enough for me as long as we can grow old together. But if you’d rather grow old with someone else, I will do everything in my power to make that happen. I would rather watch you grow old with someone else if it meant you would be happier than growing old with me.”

Mike's love was strong enough to break through to Will and give him the strength to try and sacrifice his own life. That was a plot point. That happened. Season 2 episode 8.
