June 20 2024 Sea Glass
This is another marker doodle, though without using micron pens this time: only markers for the colour and outlines. The black feels less intense, so I'm less of a fan of this style.
The colours here are another case: "What ones have I not used recently?"

June 17 Nautilus
With this "zentangle doodle," I was aiming for something sea-like, like rocks underwater or a nautilus shell. In the end, the orange and pink colours were too vibrant for it, but I still like how this came out. The cells alternate in a consistent order, and there are five colours and three patterns. You might have to look closely!
Alcohol-based markers, fine-liner pens, micron pens, and acrylic pens.

June 15 2024 In The Garden
I saw a few artists try this kind of doodle, sometimes in a drawing style called a "zentangle." I used earthy colours again, and in keeping with the theme of making everything look shiny, I added white highlights in white acrylic.
I like the organic look of this one.
Alcohol-based markers, micron pens, and acrylic pens.

June 10 2024: Flower Field
I saw something similar on Instagram and got inspired to attempt something of my own. I tried to make it feel like a pattern one could find on cloth or gift wrap and in spring-like colours that might be found on impatiens flowers.

June 08 2024: Citrus
I've been testing a new style, using a light and dark version of each colour and white acrylic pens to create a shine. The effect makes the pieces look bubbly, like gems or stained glass. Maybe I was hungry after creating this, but I could only see cut pieces of citrus fruit.
Markers, ink, acrylic.

June 06 2024: Candy Cubes
I was experimenting with some markers and limited colours. The colours remind me of candy mints, hence the name.

These are fun: they're starting to remind me of looking at plants under a microscope.

May 2024: Rainbow Bubbles
I got my hands on a compass! I tried something a little different with this project: using the same watercolours as "rainbow stream" since they were painted around the same time. I made more circular designs with this, to keep with the bubble theme.
Watercolour, marker, acrylic pens.

May 2024: Pond Water
I used three watercolour paints and watched how the colours interacted with each other with varying amounts of water. Once that dries, I draw in some large lines with a marker and, for finer details, a micron pen.
Much of it is intuitive, and there's really no way to mess up. It's like a stream of consciousness.
Watercolour, black prismacolor, archival ink.

May 15 2024: Turbulent Waters
Working with water is fun. Watercolour is perfect for "seeing what happens" and then going with the flow—pun intended. The second and third images are close-ups that will be used on Instagram.
Would anyone want a print of this? It does not necessarily have to be at full size; it could be cropped to fit postcards or smaller prints. Let me know if so! 9" x 12"

May 2024: Watercolour Experiments
Playing with some watercolour paints. The full page is 9" x 12", so the full image is cut into two. (My scanner isn't large enough to scan everything at once.)
