My mom thinks she’s helping. Telling me I’m valuable and deserving of love. But she also says that she misses you and that we should talk again soon and fix everything because this is “just a break”.
My mom thinks she’s helping, but suddenly I can’t breathe.
I feel like I’m drowning.
It’s cliché and overused, but I truly feel like I’m drowning. There aren’t any tears most of the time, at least not until I see a little something that reminds me of you. And then the dam is broken. Because why wasn’t I enough to be loved by you? To be cherished, to be loved. Why wasn’t I enough?
My throat is tight and I feel like bugs are crawling up and down my skin. I feel like I’m drowning.

I scraped my knee.
I fell in the middle of the street and I scraped my knee. I could feel the blood running down my leg and soaking my jeans, they didn’t rip, although my skin did. It burnt when I cleaned the wound and I couldn’t walk without limping for a few hours. I scraped my knee and I kinda liked it. I liked the fact that I had an excuse to be taken care of. I liked the fact that the burn distracted me from the possibility of a broken heart. I also liked the feeling (rough and bumpy), and the look (the deep burgundy color of dried blood) of my destroyed skin. The pain distracted me from the fact that my girlfriend hasn’t asked about my feelings, or called me “sweetheart”, or ravished me in a long time.
I scraped my knee and I kind of liked it. I’ve always dealt better with physical pain than with my emotions.

Tumblr media
This is a comment someone appended to a photo of two men apparently having sex in a very fancy room, but it’s also kind of an amazing two-line poem? “His Wife has filled his house with chintz” is a really elegant and beautiful counterbalancing of h, f, and s sounds, and “chintz” is a perfect word choice here—sonically pleasing and good at evoking nouveau riche tackiness. And then “to keep it real I fuck him on the floor” collapses that whole mood with short percussive sounds—but it’s still a perfect iambic pentameter line, robust and a lovely obscene contrast with the chintz in the first line. Well done, tumblr user jjbang8
