@tiaramania I was so hoping to see Princess Alice’s Meander Tiara. It would have been so perfect. I wish we saw this tiara in action more often these days!

If the designs of the BRF tiaras had been on point, which ones would you have like to have seen on s3 of The Crown?

I think the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara is the biggest missing piece on all three seasons of The Crown.  

Another nice addition to the new season would have been Princess Anne wearing Princess Alice’s Meander Tiara because I loved the Alice and Anne bonding scenes.  I’m not finished with the whole season yet but so far Erin Doherty who plays Anne has stolen every scene she’s in.  I wish they had given her better story lines and better tiaras.

Other than that I would have been happy with them just repeating the tiaras used in the first two seasons.

Favorite Aquamarine Tiara

I seriously agonized between my two favorite aquamarines. But after much consternation, I’ve landed on Lady Hesketh’s Aquamarine Tiara as my absolute favorite in this category.

The detail on this one is truly breathtaking. Am I the only one wishing we could see this tiara on Princess Beatrice? The acquamarines would look so lovely against her hair. And given that Princess Beatrice takes risks with her clothes and jewelry, I would love to see how she chose to style it.

The tiara was acquired by Cartier following the death of the Dowager Lady Hesketh.

Favorite Amethyst Tiara

The amethyst tiara that’s number one in my heart is the Tavistock Amethyst Tiara.

Originally created in 1830, the tiara underwent a redesign in 1870. The tiara is still owned today by the Bedford family, pictured here on Nicole Russel, the Duchess of Bedford circa 1970.

And even better, you can see it sparkling in motion in this gif from the opening of parliament in 1969. The Duchess of Bedford is in the second row on the far left.

I have a total pipe dream of seeing this tiara on Meghan Markle one day. I know it isn’t to be considering this tiaras is not owned by the BRF. But but but. She would absolutely STUN in it. That was my first thought when I saw Meghan in her purple dress and red coat earlier this year!

Royal Tiara Challenge 2019

I’m so excited to announce this year’s Royal Tiara Challenge.  It was started by Wonderfully Royal back in 2016 and she graciously allowed me to take it over. You can look back at 2016 here and 2017 here.  This year’s challenge will begin on February 1st and is a mix of old and new prompts.  Several people asked for the ‘a tiara you would like to see … wear’ prompts so I did those instead of the favorite from each country this year.  I tried to include as many royal women as I could but I’m sorry if I missed your favorite.  Everyone’s welcome to participate even if it’s only for part of it but please try to only choose one tiara for each day.   Tumblr’s search feature is terrible so make sure you use the tag.  #RoyalTiaraChallenge19

At least once a day I think about the fact that when the press did a whole story about William’s extravagantly expensive haircuts the official response from the Palace was “The Duke is very amused that anyone thinks he has enough hair to justify that kind of money!”
