#the old guard#joe#booker#fancomic#tog#sebastian stan#yusuf al kaysani#i so desperately need accidental thirst trap from the immortal husbands (ft. THE misery-loves-company duo)#when i said this story needed to be a series instead of a movie franchise#i meant 80% of it should've been scenes like this#petition for OP to be the last movie's scriptwriter

Understandable. Last month i spent days watching 'Death Stranding 2' gameplay, just to wait for Luca's character to show up. Why days, you asked? BECAUSE IT'S A 21-HOUR LONG YOUTUBE VIDEO. My screenshots album looked like this for a while:

(yeah I could've skipped to his part, but my fomo was a bit extreme, then i got invested 🤷♀️)
Adding him to my list of hyperfixations
Look out Marwan I will be watching your entire filmography
#luca marinelli#death stranding 2#neil vana#yeah there's also a screenshot of that post about androbarbie and booken #I don't think I'll ever do anything with those neil vada screenshots#but i took them anyway#because ✨free will✨

the thing is that childhood doesn't just end when you turn 18 or when you turn 21. it's going to end dozens of times over. your childhood pet will die. actors you loved in movies you watched as a kid will die. your grandparents will die, and then your parents will die. it's going to end dozens and dozens of times and all you can do is let it. all you can do is stand in the middle of the grocery store and stare at freezers full of microwave pizza because you've suddenly been seized by the memory of what it felt like to have a pizza party on the last day of school before summer break. which is another ending in and of itself
#i love the message#but I didn't need this opening Tumblr while chilling on a monday night 🥲#now I'll think about this for the rest of the night#but it's a beautiful way of thinking#it's not even sad

“no crew, no help, just pure hustle” cut to this poor woman bawling her eyes out. what the fuck is wrong with people? why is this being framed as a good or impressive feat? this person makes below poverty wages already. Burger King meanwhile takes in $27 billion in global revenue every single year. everyone involved in making this woman endure this should be tortured and force fed chicken fries until their heart gives out. fuck this country.

We've talked about the delayed loss of immortality in the first movie vs. the instant effect in the sequel, but what annoyed me even more is the oblivious reactions of the immortals to Booker's injury? It took 30 secs for them to come back to life after being shredded by bullets in the South Sudan scene. It took 3 secs for Joe's reattached thumb to be functional again in the hedge maze scene. Like, they're nonchalant when it comes to getting wounded because it heals too fast to care.
But somehow when Booker said he needed to take care of a slash wound, Nile was like "Okay old man~". Andy saw his still-bleeding wound and just asked if he'd done some dumb shit again (which, in fact, he did 💀). Then he started cleaning the wound and she only noticed his staring at her?? Andy did say "It's goddamn slow the first couple of times" but it's been 200 years for Booker and there's been no implications in both movies that the healing could be THAT slow. Then why none of them thought it was weird that an immortal with instant-healing power started cleaning and patching up a gash? I don't even think they have bandages and antiseptics at the safehouse to begin with, since in the first movie, Andy didn't even know what to buy to treat her wound. (Oh wait, they'd probably start storing them after Andy became mortal. Nvm)
With other details, I've tried to convince myself by reading fan theories, because yeah it's their world and I'll try to be accepting of whatever bullshit they'll give me, but don't Joey Tribbiannized the characters just for the convenience of your mediocre plot urghhhh

give your characters exes.
give them a variety of exes. give them relationships that shaped who they are but did not last. give them people they tried very hard to love but it didn't work out. give them situationships that taught them things. give them something deep that was real but could not endure. things that hurt. things that ended amicably. people with whom hot passion cooled to warm affection and became undying friendship.
no more first and only. give me the context of what made them know the next or one after was final and right.
