“What makes you so sure that they couldn’t have?” he asked curiously, chin resting on his hands as he looked over at his friend. Flower had never really witnessed magic of any sort, and before coming to New Fantasia he may have never believed in the possibility of dragons either. But there was no explaining how he came to be here, and the skunk had come to accept that some things defied logic in this world. “I’m sorry that he’s so busy. Have you tried to talk to him about spending more time together, perhaps?” he suggested, although Flower wasn’t sure he was the one to ask for advice when it came to parents, given that he grew up alone until he found Thumper and Bambi. “Would you rather do something else? If the money was also good?”
“Do you believe that dragons could have existed?” He replied with a question of his own. It seemed improbable because it was. Dragons were the thing of myths and fairytales, nothing more and nothing less. It wasn’t likely that the stories his father had told him as a child had any truth behind them. Men and dragons living together in harmony seemed even more unbelievable than the existence of the creatures. Hiccup shrugged when the subject of his father lingered longer than he wanted it to. “I try talking but he never listens. I’m used to it now.” He admitted with a sigh. It wasn’t something he enjoyed thinking about. “What do you mean? Would I rather do something other than leatherworking? No, I like it a lot.”

“Well yeah. It’s not it would take long or anything. I could put it out front of snow day. Attract a few customers and you get a model.” Jack nodded, already picturing it in his head. It sure would be fun. “Uhh….I 13th? I think we did?” Jack said wondering until something else caught his attention span. It was a semicircle these boys even survived day to day. “So who requested the saddle anyway?”
“What do you mean it wouldn’t take long? We would have to move all that ice out to the front of the store. Wait,” he paused. “Aren’t you supposed to make ice sculptures with like a large piece of ice, not a lot of little pieces of ice?” Hiccup cocked his head slightly to the side. It was possible that he was wrong since he didn’t know anything about ice sculptures of how they worked but he could have sworn they were only made from one giant piece and carved down. “Yeah, okay good.” He nodded, trying to recall the memory. “Some guy named Gobber or at least that’s the name he gave me.”

“I mean… Maybe?” She said with a laugh. “All I know is that I have magic healing hair and that’s supposedly impossible, so maybe dragons exist too!” Rapunzel hoped that dragons existed. She imagined them to be incredible creatures. When Hiccup said that the customer should bring their dragon in, she shook her head with a smile. He was always so funny to her. “I guess that’s a fair request.” She said. “Though I’m not sure you’d want a dragon in your workshop. I bet they’d make a huge mess.”
“Magic healing hair?” Hiccup questioned. It was easy to forget that. He knew that Rapunzel believed she had hair that could glow and heal people but having never seen it in action he wasn’t a believer, although he didn’t let her know that. “Oh right...magic healing hair...I almost forgot.” The male chuckled it off, trying to hide his awkwardness. Quickly the subject changed and a wave of relief fell over the leatherworker. “I don’t know about dragons though. They’re a little different than your hair.” The words came out and he realized just how ridiculous it would sound to someone that really thought they had magic hair. Hopefully, she would just take it as a joke. “Yeah, you’re probably right and my workshop is messy enough.”

The fandom may be dead, but the Big Four was and probably will forever be my favorite crossover. There was just such a good balance between the characters in terms of design and personality. Sure, the timelines never lined up completely in canon, but it was fun imagining all the adventures these four could get into together. I have no context for why they are discussing battle plans, but I’m sure there are plenty of fanfics this could fit into. The designs are from a SUPER old drawing I did back when the fandom was still active (with a few minor alterations). Gosh, I drew that 6 years ago… maybe I should do a side-by-side comparison. “I don’t know” Flower shrugged gently, the words drawn out in his usual shy nature as he turned to look over at the other. “You never know in this place, but a real dragon would be really scary, I think” he frowned. He may be standing before his friend right now well over 5 feet tall, but he would always feel like the little skunk that he truly was deep down inside. A huge fire breathing dragon sounded like something out of a nightmare to a furry critter so used to the peace of the corner of the forest. “I suppose”
“My dad used to tell me stories about dragons. He used to say that they lived among humans in the old days but I think he believes those stories too much. Dragons never existed. Sure, dinosaurs existed and dragons can be seen as similar to them but they aren’t the same. Dragons never existed and I wish I could say that to him but he probably wouldn’t listen anyway. He’s too busy.” Hiccup explained, going off on a tangent. It was pretty common for the man to do without meaning to. His mind just wandered onto topics and wouldn’t leave them alone until they were resolved in his head. “Money is good though.” The leatherworker said, rubbing the side of his nose with his middle finger, looking down.

Jack tapped his chin listening to his friend.” Hmm…did they give a picture of the animal and dimensions at least? I could make an ice sculpture and you can size it?” he offered out trying to help his friend. It saddened him to hear about the way he spoke about dragons. If only he knew. “We do need the money thing.” he agreed.
“No, they didn’t even give me a picture. They just said to think of a big blue dragon with a wingspan of thirty feet and to build something that would fit that. I had to do a lot of reptile research to even draw up the pattern. You want to make an ice sculpture with a thirty-foot wingspan?” Hiccup asked, the shock evident in his tone. His eyes widened at the idea. That would be one massive sculpture. “Yeah, I know. When do I owe you rent again? Did we already pay for this month?”

“Maybe they know something that we don’t. The world works in mysterious ways.” Rapunzel said, always the optimist. Having magic hair kept her open to many possibilities. She laughed a little at the frustration in Hiccup’s voice. She wasn’t laughing at him. Just giggling at his passion, she supposed. She was happy that he had come over while Gothel was out. She could always count on her friends to climb into her window when she needed them. “Your work is beautiful, Hiccup, who wouldn’t something like that? Dragons have always been fascinating creatures.”
“You think they know dragons exist somewhere and they want me to make a saddle for that dragon?” Hiccup asked in disbelief, the words sounding ridiculous to him. Sure he had heard the stories of old, that his father loved to tell when he was a child, about dragons and how they used to live side by side with men but that’s all it was: a story. “And anyway if that wanted something that actually fit properly they should bring the dragon in so I could get measurements because nobody wants to fall from that high.” He continued rambling on. “Thanks Punzie.” The young man beamed. Rapunzel always knew how to make him feel better.

“Yes, but dragons don’t exist and that’s my point. How can you make a saddle for something that doesn’t exist? It just doesn’t make sense. I know cosplay is a thing but why do they want a genuine leather saddle for that?” Hiccup questioned, pressing the base of his palm against the bridge of his nose, wiping the sleep out of his eyes. The night before hadn’t provided him with much sleep and after only two hours of being awake, he was ready to go back to bed. “Money is money I guess.” { @newfantasiastarters }
