Even if you (general) think humans eating fish should be entirely banned, fish is still an important component of things like wet cat food, which was all my cat would eat in the last few years of her life (and she hated the beef flavor, so purely terrestrial sources wouldn’t have worked). If there’s going to have to be fishing for that anyways, we should have legislation to make it as eco friendly as possible.

Besides, not everyone can be vegan. I have friends/family who are allergic/intollerant to various combinations of nuts, coconut, beans, mushrooms, and wheat, aka vegan sources of protein, which is a necessary nutrient. I get nauseated if I have more than a few bites of red meat, and I’m generally vegetarian with a vegan leaning by habit, but with how I can manage to take care of myself, I cannot restrict my types of food unless they make me sick, or I will end up not eating at all.

If someone says “hey, maybe we should be better about acquiring and preparing [food]” the proper response is not “but [food] is inherently immoral!” it is either staying on topic or staying silent.

And the fact that these morality arguments are happening on disability advocacy posts is just another layer of suspicious. Why comment there, rather than literally anywhere else, unless you’re also trying to moralize disability to make yourself feel better?

Vegan Tumblr: BUT WHAT ABOUT NOT EATING FISH? Actually, let's make the whole post about not eating fish. If you eat fish, you're evil. Stop eating fish.
